According to TVLine's Megan Masters, Justin Deeley who played the recurring guest-star role, Austin, last season is leaving the show. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some scoop on Deeley's departure from the show:
According to sources, the actor — who first joined 90210 last year as Austin, a California cowboy with a thing for AnnaLynne McCord’s Naomi — will be written out in the season premiere (airing Monday, Oct. 8 at 8/7c). However, a rep for the show maintains that the “door is still open for him to reappear in future episodes.”
The move makes sense considering Deeley didn’t have much to do in the wake of Austin and Naomi’s split (save for his character offering to help Adrianna with her fledgling singing career in May’s finale.)

My thoughts: I have to say that I'm really disappointed that Justin Deeley is leaving the show. Austin was one of my favorite recurring guest-star roles in season 4. While I'm really disappointed that Deeley will be leaving the show, I'm glad that he will be written off in the season 5 premiere and that it sounds like the writers will be giving the character Austin some closure. Most of the time they just have recurring guest-star characters simply vanish, never to be seen or mentioned again, which has always been one of my biggest complaints about the show.
