Modern Family: F-Bomb Controversy: "This Is Not Child Abuse!" Says Star Jesse Tyler Ferguson-E! Online

Here's an article by E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos and Tierney Bricker about tonight's episode of Modern Family. The Parents Television Council is complaining about Cameron and Mitchell's storyline in tonight's episode, which involves them dealing with the fact that Lily starts using the F-Word despite the fact that no one from The Parents Television Council has seen the episode yet. In the article the co-creator of Modern Family, Steve Levitan, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet speak in defense of the episode.

Here's an excerpt from the article expressing Steve Levitan's thoughts on the episode:

While creator Steve Levitan told reporters at the Television Critics Association that he's "proud and excited" of the new storyline, the Parents Television Council is not happy (without having seen the episode).

Here's Jesse Tyler Ferguson's comment regarding The Parents Television Council's complaints about tonight's episode:

A rep for ABC has no comment on the matter, but Ferguson tells us: "I can assure you she did not actually say the F-word on the show. We said the very innocent word fudge, but people are all up in arms about that. This is not child abuse!

"We're not making her cuss. What she does on her own time, we don't know but...," he adds with a chuckle.

Coming off Modern Family's Golden Globe win and stellar ratings so far this season, Ferguson says this kind of controversy is par for the course. "I think that with a show like ours, we're so grateful it's a hit, it's a sign of a show being well-loved and being a hit. When people find anything to nit-pick about, it's a good thing I think."

Here's Eric Stonestreet's comments on the controversy, which he expressed via Twitter:

"For fornication sake people! Again, how bout actually SEEING what you're against before u r so STRONGLY against it. How bout redirecting energies...2 reading 2 the elderly, picking up litter, feeding the hungry..So focused on the 'cussing' in tonight's Modern Family, everyone seems to have neglected Ty, Jesse, Ed's, and my full frontal scene."
