According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, TNT has renewed Falling Skies for a 10-episode fourth season. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on the show's renewal and includes a quote from Noah Wyle regarding the season 3 finale:
“As opposed to some of the other seasons where we’ve ended on a cliffhanger,” Wyle said, “this [finale] has more of a sense of closure, and completion.”
But apparently not too much closure and completion!
With Live+7 DVR playback factored in, Falling Skies this season is averaging 5.8 million weekly viewers and ranks as basic cable’s No. 1 scripted series with the 18-49 and 25-54 demos, for the summer-to-date.
The 10-episode Season 4 will premiere in summer 2014.
