Orange Is the New Black: Renewed for a Third Season-TVGuide

According to TVGuide's Tim Surette, Netflix has renewed Orange Is the New Black for a third season. This news comes before the release of the entire second season on June 6. It's been reported that Laura Prepon will be back as a series regular for the show's third season. Here's an excerpt from the article:

Word of the Season 3 order made the rounds via that ever-increasingly popular mode of breaking news: actors' social media accounts. Laura Prepon, who plays incarcerated lesbian drug runner Alex Vause, posted a picture (warning: NSFW language) of a white board with potential episode titles for the season to her Instagram account, with the caption "It's official!! Season 3!!"

According to a later tweet by Orange Is the New Black writer Lauren Morelli, the new season has already been in the works for some time. "Know how the FBI can't disclose what they're working on? The last month in the [Orange Is the New Black] writer's room has been like that with lower stakes," she wrote.

My thoughts: While I admit that I haven't watched Orange Is the New Black yet due to the fact that I don't use Netflix, I'm very excited about this news. I've always been a huge fan of the show Weeds, so I've been wanting to check this show out ever since they first started advertising the show's first season. I personally think that Jenji Kohan is a very talented writer, so I'm thrilled that the show has done so well. The more that I learn about the show, the more I've wanted to watch it.

I know that a lot of people have talking about how they wanted Laura Prepon to return for season two as a series regular, but what I was most excited to hear about the show is the fact that Kate Mulgrew is one of the stars of the show. I've been a huge fan of hers ever since she was on Star Trek: Voyager, so I can't wait to see her on Orange Is the New Black. I'm really looking forward to finally being able to watch the show once the first season is released on DVD on May 13th.
