Grey’s Anatomy Exclusive: FNL MVP Gaius Charles Joins Season 9 Cast as [Spoiler]-TVLine

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Gaius Charles has joined the cast of Grey's Anatomy in a recurring guest-star role for season 9. Here's an excerpt from the article:

The details regarding Charles’ character are still being worked out, but it stands to reason that he will be playing a young doctor at  Seattle Grace — a hospital reeling from at least two major staff departures.

To say Charles’ TV career is on fire at the moment is an understatement. After spending several years out of the spotlight to focus on college, the actor re-entered the TV scene with back-to-back guest stints on ABC’s short-lived Pan-Am and CBS juggernaut NCIS. Last month, he returned to the football field via a major arc on USA Network’s Necessary Roughness

Charles’ casting continues Grey’s boss Shonda Rhimes’ love affair with Friday Night Lights. Other FNL stars who have passed through Seattle Grace’s hallowed halls include  Kyle Chandler, Jesse Plemmons and Zach Gilford.

My thoughts: I'm not familiar with Gaius Charles as an actor, so I can't really comment on his acting right now, but as for what I think about the cast of Grey's Anatomy for season 9, I hope to god that Chyler Leigh and Kim Raver are the only actors who will be leaving the show for now. I hope the reason that the show is in the process of casting several recurring guest-star roles right now isn't because they are preparing for more cast members leaving the show and that these additions to the cast are only for storyline purposes. I don't think that I can handle having more of my favorite actors/characters leave the show for the time being.
