Grey’s Anatomy: Season 9 Premiere Episode Title Revealed-TVLine

Callie Mark Arizona Grey's Anatomy

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, the title for the season 9 premiere of Grey's Anatomy is "Going Going Gone." Here's an excerpt from the article where Michael Ausiello shares his thoughts on the possible meaning behind the title of the season premiere.

Given the news that Eric Dane will only be returning for two episodes this fall, conventional wisdom suggests the title points to the imminent departure of McSteamy.

However, it could also be a nod to the tragic death of Lexie and/or the departure of Teddy in May’s finale — but in both cases those characters aren’t “Going Going Gone.” They’re just gone.

Which brings us back to the question at the top of the story: Is another exit looming? And if so, could it be Jessica Capshaw (Arizona) — whose S9 status series creator Shonda Rhimes has been conspicuously mum about?

Of course, it’s entirely possible the title doesn’t pertain to any of these things. Maybe Seattle Grace’s softball team opens its new season and the title refers to a super-dramatic game-winning home run hit by the Chief? (Nah.)

My thoughts: First off, let me start off by saying that I think that the writers have definitely picked an interesting title for the season 9 premiere of Grey's Anatomy. If I had to guess what the meaning behind the title is, I would say that it's referring to the fact that Chyler Leigh and Kim Raver left the show in the season 8 finale and that Eric Dane is going to be leaving the show after appearing in two episodes of season 9.

Next, I hope to god that Jessica Capshaw isn't also going to be leaving the show at the start of season 9 too, because I love the relationship between Callie and Arizona. I'm already really upset that Chyler Leigh, Kim Raver and Eric Dane are all leaving the show, so I would hate to see Jessica Capshaw leave the cast of Grey's Anatomy at this point in time too.
