It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia-The Gang interacting with little kids: Priceless. (My thoughts on episode 7x03: Frank Reynolds’ Little Beauties)

I have to say that I absolutely loved this episode, and it’s definitely my favorite out of all the episodes of season seven that have aired so far. There were so many parts that made me laugh hysterically. Just the thought of the Gang having a kids’ beauty pageant is absolutely priceless given the way they act when they are just hanging out together or are interacting with other adults. They act very immaturely and inappropriately, so putting them in situations where they have to be around kids or teenagers is just asking for trouble. This episode once again reminded me of why Dee and Charlie are my top two favorite characters on the show. Although, I think all of the characters on the show are amazing.

As soon I as I heard about the plot of this episode, I couldn’t wait to see it and find out how the Gang would end up having a kids beauty pageant at Paddy’s Pub. It turns out that Frank agreed to have the pageant at the pub, not knowing that it was a kids’ beauty pageant and not a beauty pageant for adults like he was expecting. His freak-out that he had at the beginning of the episode right after he found out that it was kids’ beauty pageant was classic. I love how he fell on the floor, injuring himself when he was running around and freaking out then spent the rest of the episode looking like an absolute mess for the rest of the episode. I can’t believe Frank went to see a mortician and had them put makeup on his face so he wouldn’t look so disheveled when they had the pageant. It definitely didn’t make him look better. He looked creepy as hell with all that makeup on, but the fact that he looked so creepy and weird with the makeup on was what made the whole thing extremely funny.

I love how Frank spent the whole episode trying to come up with a way to assure people that they weren’t molesting or as he put it, “diddling”, any of the kids. His “Don’t diddle kids” song was so weird that it was hilarious. The whole scene with the guys rehearsing songs was hilarious though, not just the part with Frank’s song.

One of my favorite parts of this episode was definitely when Charlie was teaching the kids the choreography for the pageant. That was priceless. One of my other favorite aspects of this episode was Dee trying to form alliances with various girls who were competing in the pageant; meanwhile the guys decided to try and help the only boy who was competing in the pageant win the pageant. I can’t believe some of the things that Dee said to those girls when they said something that offended her. That was awesome!

Mac, Charlie and Dennis’ reactions to the boy competing in the pageant were absolutely priceless, especially when they were watching him practice his singing and dancing routine to the song Yankee Doodle for the talent portion and they realized that the boy genuinely enjoyed competing in pageants. If you ask me, it’s only a matter of time before that kid comes out of the closet, because he definitely came across as a kid who would end up realizing that he’s gay when he’s older.

The guy that came to Paddy’s saying that he was a member of an organization that was in charge of making sure that nothing inappropriate was going on at the pageant immediately raised a red flag with me. He seemed a little weird right away, not overtly so, but he definitely seemed a little “off” to me.

I have to say that I’m continuing to really enjoy fat Mac. I thought the part where he was panting as he was eating some food and the comments that the others made about him while he was eating were pretty funny.

The actual pageant itself was absolutely hilarious and was a non-stop laugh riot, if you ask me. The dance that the Gang did with the kids was priceless, especially how Mac’s fat stomach was sticking out of his shirt as he was dancing. My two favorite moments from the pageant were when Dee was singing that song about how moms suck with one of the little girls who was competing in the pageant, and my other favorite moment from the pageant was definitely the sex-fueled techno version of Yankee Doodle that the boy did wearing a patriotic hat, pants and a vest left open without a shirt underneath. To make his whole dance even funnier, they somehow managed to make it look like he had six pack abs. Seeing that made me practically die of laughter; plus, the audience’s awkward reactions to both of those performances were beyond priceless.

Frank continued to be nervous about getting in trouble and desperately try to assure people that they hadn’t been “diddling” any of the kids during the pageant. Cops ended up showing up at Paddy’s Pub, interrupting the pageant, which caused Frank to freak out thinking that they were coming for him. It turned out that the cops were coming to arrest the guy who had been claiming that he was there to make sure that nothing bad or illegal happened with the kids in the pageant. He apparently had been going to other beauty pageants telling other people the same thing, but he was actually a wanted sex offender that the cops had been trying to catch for a long time. I love how as soon as the cops arrested that guy, they no longer cared about the pageant anymore and randomly picked one of the girls in the pageant as the winner.

This episode was an excellent example of one of things that I’ve always loved about It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, which is how they frequently do episodes that are a satire on social issues, such as underage drinking, gay marriage, or in the case of this episode, kids’ beauty pageants. I always love it when they take a social or political issue and do a rather weird and crazy episode that explores that issue, because those episodes are always downright hilarious. This episode was definitely downright hilarious, if you ask me. I’ve read some posts on the IMDB board for It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia where people were saying that they didn’t really like this episode all that much, but I for one absolutely loved it. Frank, Dee and Charlie really stood out to me the most in this episode as having the funniest parts. Dee and Charlie’s interactions with the kids were definitely one of the main highlights of this episode for me, but Mac and Dennis also had some great moments in this episode as well. This episode just keeps getting funnier and funnier every time I watch it, and it’s definitely my favorite episode of the season so far.

All things considered, I give this episode a rating of an A+.
