It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia: Whatever you do, don’t shhh a member of the Gang! (My thoughts on episode 7x08: The ANTI-Social Network)

Once again I found myself absolutely loving this week’s episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Just when I thought that “Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games” was one of the best episodes ever of the series, they did this episode, which I loved even more. One of the things that I’ve always loved about the show is that it reminds me a lot of Seinfeld in some ways, and this episode really seemed like the kind of storyline that they would do on Seinfeld if it were still on the air. I thought it was hilarious how they all got extremely obsessed with finding the guy that shushed them when they were at a rival bar so they could shush him back. I love how the writers can take something so insignificant that a person can do and make a whole storyline for an episode out of it and have it be beyond hilarious. I’ve also always loved how the Gang can get so obsessed and hung up on something so mundane and stupid. Those are two of the things that I think make the show so brilliant.

Another one of the many things that I love about the show is how they can do an episode that’s a social commentary on something and have the episode be absolutely absurd at the same time. In this case, it was a commentary on how people aren’t always who they say they are on the Internet and that people need to be careful about what they tell people that they don’t know them. The scenes where Dee was on Facebook looking for the guy who shushed them was definitely one of the main highlights of the episode for me personally.

I thought that Charlie made a very good point about how people shouldn’t make snap judgments about people that they don’t know. That’s always been one of my biggest pet peeves in life. I also love that Charlie went ahead and took the Paddy’s Pub sign after the rest of The Gang said they didn’t think it was a good idea. That was classic Charlie.

As I was watching this episode, I couldn’t help but wonder if the reason why they made “Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games” a bottle episode was because they had so many scenes outside the bar in this episode. I’m sure that made this episode cost a lot more than most episodes usually do when they have most, if not all of the scenes of the episode shot on the Paddy’s Pub set. I have to say that I really liked seeing Dee and Mac, as well as Charlie and Dennis out of the bar interacting with people they don’t know.

One of my favorite scenes of the episode was definitely the one where Charlie and Dennis are at the police station talking to the police about the guy who shushed them. I thought the whole thing with them saying that he raped them came completely out of left field. It was extremely politically incorrect, and yet it was funny at the same time. The scenes with Charlie and Dennis at the rival bar looking for the guy who shushed them were pure gold too though.

I love how obsessed Mac got about seeing the pictures of the girl they talked to at that clothing store where she was naked, even after she admitted that she had lied to them about knowing the guy who shushed them. That made me laugh a lot. It was also so really fun getting to see Dee and Mac have a lot of one-on-one scenes in this episode since Kaitlin and Rob are married to each other in real life.

Frank’s “virus video” was absolutely brilliant. It was weird, but in a funny way. I loved The Gang’s reaction to it and how they got mad at him, because they thought it would make people think that they had gotten a computer virus from watching it.

Once again, I found myself absolutely loving Dennis in this episode. Glenn Howerton is on fire this season with his portrayal of Dennis. He really deserves an Emmy for his work on the show this season. He’s a big part of the reason why I loved the ending of the episode and the episode as a whole so much. The creepy smile that Glenn had on his face when he saw that the guy who had shushed them had come to the bar with some friends of his and told Charlie to lock the door was downright epic and classic Dennis.

All in all, I absolutely loved this episode. It had so many funny scenes, and I loved that it was a bit different compared to most episodes of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia due to the fact that most of the episode took place outside the bar. That being said, I give this episode an A+ and on a scale of one to ten, I give this episode a rating of a 20 out of 10.
