It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia: The Gang gets revenge, Glee style, Frank has a moment of rational thinking, and Schmitty screws Charlie over once again (My thoughts on episode 7x13: The High School Reunion, Pt. 2: The Gang's Revenge)

Let me begin this post by saying that I can’t believe that season seven is over already. I guess it’s true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun, because I absolutely loved season seven. I have to say that I thought that this episode was a great way to end what I think was a phenomenal season.

The episode pretty much started right where the previous episode ended. Mac, Charlie and Frank were all hanging from the toilet stalls in the men’s bathroom after the “cool kids” had given them wedgies at the end of the previous episode. Dee decided to that she wanted to team up with Mac, Charlie and Frank again now that all of her classmates have shunned her because they found out that she had told Rickety Cricket that she loved him years ago. Mac, Charlie and Frank were hesitant at first to let her rejoin “The Freight Train” after she turned her back on them in order to try and become one of the popular kids, but they ultimately decided to team up with her. However, before they set their plan for revenge in motion, they gave Dee a wedgy as a part of her initiation back into “The Freight Train”. The part of the episode where they were giving Dee a wedgy was beyond hilarious, especially since she threw her back out when the guys gave her a wedgy. Dee was forced to wear her old back brace that had earned her the nickname The Aluminum Monster in high school.

Judy Greer reprised her role as Ingrid “Fatty Magoo” Nelson in this episode, which was really fun to see, because I’m huge fan of hers’. I thought her interactions with The Gang in this episode were beyond hilarious. I love how Ingrid “Fatty Magoo” Nelson told Mac that they had hired security guards specifically to keep Psycho Pete from being able to get in the high school. That was funny. Another one of the things that I loved about the return of Ingrid “Fatty Magoo” Nelson is the fact that it led to Charlie once again mentioning that he views himself as a lawyer who specializes in bird law. That was awesome! :)

Once again Glenn Howerton completely blew me away with his performance in this episode. Dennis decided that he was going to get revenge on his nemesis from high school, Tim Murphy, by having sex with his wife. Dennis tried to use The D.E.N.N.I.S. System to seduce her, but when he told her in a very crude and hilarious way that he wanted to sleep with her to get back at Tim, she ended up telling him that she thought he was gay, because he was wearing makeup and a girdle, which caused him to blow up at her in a fit of rage and told her that he was “The Golden God”. I thought that whole scene was beyond hilarious.

After that, he went to get some things out of the trunk of his car and Dee, Charlie, Mac and Frank noticed some bizarre items in secret compartments inside the trunk of his car, which he said were for various fetishes that he has. Just the sight of the inside of his trunk had me rolling with laughter.

Once they were all back in the school, they ended up running into Tim Murphy, who told him that he had always seemed really weird in high school because he would say really weird things such as referring to himself as “The Golden God”. Over the years, the writers have frequently acted like Dennis was very popular in high school, but after watching the two part high school reunion episode, I’m really beginning to question if he truly was popular in high school. A part of me now wonders if Dennis simply believed that he was popular due to his strong sense of narcissism and he wasn’t actually popular in high school. Dennis told Tim that he wanted to get revenge on him for sleeping with his prom date in high school, but in a twist Tim told Dennis that he never slept with his prom date, Mac did. Dennis tried to beat Mac up, but Frank and Charlie broke up the fight. Frank proceeded to give this epic speech about not letting people get away with humiliating them. Dennis, Charlie, Mac and Dee’s reaction to Frank’s speech made the whole thing even better, saying that it was the most coherent thing that Frank has ever said. However, Frank quickly lost his train of thought, and after some debate, The Gang decided to do plan B, which was to do a dance routine in front of their former classmates.

I have to say that I absolutely loved the speech that Charlie gave his classmates about dancing before they did their dance routine. After Charlie’s speech, they showed them doing this great dance routine and all of their classmates seemed to really be enjoying it as they watched them. However, their great dance routine turned out to all be a fantasy they were imagining in their heads. I have to say that I thought that Kaitlin’s facial expressions throughout the whole fantasy dance were very awkward, but in a very funny way. In reality, their dance routine was basically them moving awkwardly and sweating like pigs while their classmates stared at them awkwardly. I thought that their classmates’ facial expressions as they watched their actual dance were all beyond priceless. What made the whole thing better was that as soon as they were done dancing, Frank promptly ran off to throw up in a trashcan. That was priceless. :)

Tim ended up inviting everyone except for The Gang over to his house for an after party. The Gang ended up leaving trying to figure out why their classmates didn’t like their dance routine. As they were leaving, they ran into The Waitress who was still drunk like she was in the previous episode. She told that she was going to have sex with the next guy who talks to her. Charlie’s face promptly lit up brighter than a Christmas tree hearing this, but of course something prevented Charlie from getting a chance to sleep with The Waitress. Schmitty literally jumped out of nowhere and greeted The Gang. The Waitress asks him if he wanted to sleep with her, and he said he would and they left together. The episode ended with Charlie being upset that Schmitty had once again screwed him over as The Gang left the high school to go back to the bar.

Before the season started, I had heard that Jason Sudeikis was going to be guest starring as Schmitty again in an episode this season, but I had forgotten all about that until I watched this episode. I love how Mac ended up being right about Schmitty not showing up until the end of evening just to go sleep with the grossest girl at the reunion, which ended up being The Waitress. That was priceless.

All in all, I have to say that I absolutely loved this episode, and I thought that it was a great way to end what was a phenomenal season. Personally, I would have loved to have had The Waitress be in the episode more than just the last scene of the episode, but that didn’t really bring my level of enjoyment of the episode down at all.

All that being said, I give this episode a rating of an A+. By the way, I think I’m going to do another thoughts post on my overall thoughts on season seven of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia now that the season is over.
