Here's some scoop on Finding Carter from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 9/18/15.

The trailer for Finding Carter made it look like something romantic is happening between Gabe and Taylor. Was that a fake-out? — Erin
Basically, no. It was not a fake-out. “It becomes complicated,” showrunner Emily Whitesell says. With the death of Gabe’s father, it seems his downward spiral could result in him looking at Taylor differently. “I think Gabe convinces himself that he loves her,” Whitesell says. But that doesn’t mean Taylor loves him back. After all, Max is still very much in the picture. “It’s interesting to watch her navigate her very deep friendship feelings for Gabe and become confused in a moment or two. We were really interested in exploring this idea of what the difference is between deeply loving someone and being in love with someone.” Let’s just hope Taylor’s moments of confusion don’t ruin anything.
