The question you should be asking yourself is whether Mitchell was actually culpable with the killings, or keeping one of his family members in check — especially considering his deathbed proclamation that they needed to tell the truth. “That was supposed to be ambiguous,” says EP Corinne Brinkerhoff, teasing that Madeline’s motivations for killing her husband are complicated. “She will unpack her side of the story and make you really rethink what it is you saw at the end of the pilot and what it meant.”
