I’ve got some huge casting news for you! I’ve learned exclusively that Ernie Hudson has booked a guest-starring role for an episode slated for sometime in 2018. He’ll play Darryl, a hardworking school principal for a school where students are deeply troubled by gang violence. He is terribly frustrated that he hasn’t been able to do anything to stop the violence, so he goes to extreme measures in hopes of making a difference. I hear he decides to confront the kids “in the language they understand best.” Make of that what you will.

Hart of Dixie Casts Ernie Hudson in Season 1 Episode-TVLine

When you need to cast Cress Williams‘ dad, who ya gonna call? Ernie Hudson!

The former Ghostbuster has nabbed a guest spot on The CW’s freshman charmer Hart of Dixie as the father of Williams’ Lavon Hayes, TVLine has learned exclusively.


Hudson’s character, also named Ernie, will pay a visit to Bluebell in an episode slated to air early next year. Unfortunately, pops comes bearing bad news for the Mayor.

A seasoned TV and film vet, Hudson’s more recent credits include Desperate Housewives and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
