NCIS: Casting related scoop on episode 10x14 "Canary" and scoop on the possibility of Jamie Lee Curtis returning from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on NCIS from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 1/24/13.

This is not really a scoop request (or maybe it is), but the press release for the NCIS episode “Canary” (Episode 10×14) seems to be lacking guest cast. –Daniel
You seem crafty, Daniel, so maybe you already dug this up. But if not, that guest cast includes Chuck alum/imminent Bones guest star Vik Sahay (playinga  computer hacker), Ethan Rains (General Hospital: Night Shift) and Geoffrey Wade (aka Don’s Mad Men dentist). Did I mention Vik Sahay?

When is Jamie Lee Curtis making her re-appearance as NCIS‘ Dr. Ryan? I thought she was perfect with Mark Harmon. –Nancy
“I actually speak to her all the time,” NCIS boss Gary Glasberg said when I ran your Q by him. “She is a huge fan of this show and of Mark Harmon, and she would love to come back. But right now, there’s just a lot of talking. Nothing to report at the moment.”

New Girl: More scoop on Jess' parents from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on New Girl from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat for Tuesday 11/6/12.

Nicole in Chicago: New Girl spoilers, por favor!
Ready to meet the parents? We've already told you that Jamie Lee Curtis is guest starring on the Thanksgiving episode as Jess' mom, but you should know that it's going to be a like-mother-like-daughter situation. "I'm a little energetic. I think she got her energetic gene from me," Curtis tells us. And then there's the fact that Jess is trying to push her 'rents back together. "She tries to Parent Trap her parents," Curtis laughs. If you want a preview of what that will entail, just watch this. Warning: It's the Lindsay Lohan edition.

New Girl: Scoop on Jess' parents and more on the Thanksgiving episode from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on New Girl from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat Daily for Monday 10/8/12.

Brit in Playa del Rey, Calif.: Hit me with some New Girl spoilers!
The Thanksgiving episode might be one of our all time favorites, and we haven't even seen it yet! This opinion is just based on what Max Greenfield told us about it. He would not stop raving about the guest stars in the episode, like Rob Reiner and Jamie Lee Curtis, who will be playing Jess' parents. "When [Jamie Lee Curtis] shows up to set, she really shows up. She's a force," he gushes. "And Rob Riggle is playing Big Schmidt, Schmidt's cousin from Minnesota. All sorts of s--t happens. I literally cannot keep a straight face. I've ruined so much footage, it's unbelievable. He's the funniest man alive." We are now dying to eat some turkey with the New Girl gang this year.

NCIS: Scoop on the possibility of Jamie Lee Curtis returning to the show from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on NCIS from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 10/1/12.

Loved your Q&A about NCIS last week, but was hoping you’d ask if Dr. Ryan was coming back. Loved her with Gibbs! XOXO — Marissa
I loved Dr. Ryan, too. Gibbs spent less time in the basement and more time above ground with the living when she’s on the show. (There’s a wood joke in there that ‘m not going near.) So I did ask executive producer Gary Glasberg about this. “The door is always open, as far as I’m concerned,” he says. “We so enjoyed [Jamie Lee Curtis] and what she brought to the show and that character. If the time is right, we’ll talk about it.”

New Girl: Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner to play Jess' parents-Inside TV | EW.com

According to Entertainment Weekly's Dan Snierson, Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner will be guest-starring in the season 2 Thanksgiving episode of New Girl as Jess' parents. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Curtis' and Reiner's appearance on the show.:

EW has learned that actress/author Jamie Lee Curtis and actor/director/producer Rob Reiner will assume the roles of her divorced parents, Joan and Bob, who cross paths again in the loft at Thanksgiving. Jess is not happy that they are not together, and uses the holiday to try to  romantically reunite them in what’s being described as a “Parent Trap.” (What could go wrong? See: last year’s dryer turkey and corpse special.)

My thoughts: I have to admit that I didn't really start watching New Girl until this summer, and I really regret not watching the show sooner. New Girl is a very funny show with a great writing and a great cast for the most part. Although, I have to admit that Winston is my least favorite character on the show. I don't hate him, it's just that the character doesn't really stand out to me nearly as much as all of the other characters stand out to me as being extremely funny.

That being said, I find Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner being cast as Jess' parents to be extremely random casting. To be completely honest, I didn't think that Jamie Lee Curtis was acting very much these days outside of the commercials that she's done for Activia yogurt. I just figured she was mostly doing other things now such as write books. I've really liked Jamie Lee Curtis in the movies that I've seen her in, so I'm not upset about this casting. I just find this casting to be extremely random and unexpected, especially Rob Reiner being cast as Jess' dad since he's an actor that I've almost never thought about. I'm definitely anxious to see them on the show since the episode that they will be guest-starring in sounds very interesting and has great potential to be absolutely hilarious.
