Here's some scoop on Marvel's The Punisher from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 9/14/17.



Should we expect anything we saw in The Defenders to connect with The Punisher? — Timmy
Other than Deborah Ann Woll recurring as Karen Page and the shared setting of New York City, don’t expect to see much of what you saw in the latest Marvel-Netflix series to come up in Frank Castle’s spinoff. “We are stripping down every supernatural element,” Jon Bernthal says. “This show is different. It looks different. Frank is a character rooted in the most basic human emotions… He’s a comic-book character, but he doesn’t fly, he doesn’t have X-ray vision. He’s an unbelievably skilled soldier who’s been very, very angry and very, very hurt.” In other words: The Punisher’s story will feature zero ninjas, zero members of the Hand, and definitely zero dragons.

The Defenders: Scoop on Sigourney Weaver's role on the show from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams

Here's some scoop on The Defenders from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/27/17.



We know Sigourney Weaver’s playing the “adversary” in The Defenders, and that she’s all about “self-preservation,” but come on, just tell us: Is she or is she not the Hand’s leader, the final boss for that group specifically? — Taylor
Sorry, you’ll have to wait until Aug. 18 to confirm exactly what her relationship is to the Hand, but EP Marco Ramirez did share a few more clues with my colleague Shirley Li. “In Daredevil and Iron Fist, the two shows with the most references to the Hand, [characters] always say ‘Oh, there are players beyond [those we’ve met] that are bigger than this,’ or ‘There are people that work beyond this who are pulling the strings,'” he points out. “The truth is she’s like the thing in the shadows who’s finally walking out.” And if that’s not enough, Ramirez has one more hint: “We chose [the name] ‘Alexandra’ because it sounded regal.” Now all you have to do is piece together the clues…
