You heard that Mistresses‘ Rochelle Aytes will be returning as Morgan’s love interest Savannah, right? “We want to play the very real relationship of two working adults who both save lives,” showrunner Erica Messer tells me. “She’s a doctor and he’s a superhero FBI agent.” On the professional side of things, Morgan will act as a support system for Garcia as she suffers from guilt over shooting that guy last season.

Ausiello: Mahalo, Mark! Maybe Mistresses? (Sorry, got a little alliteration-crazy there for a second.) Rochelle Aytes tells us that her righteous April is headed for the mother of all showdowns, so to speak, when daughter Lucy falls under the influence of a nasty rich-girl classmate at her exclusive private school. “You can expect April and this girl’s mother to clash,” Aytes tells us. “She’s buying my daughter Gucci bags, and now Lucy wants a cellphone, too.” The sudden onslaught of “rich people’s problems” — and the reality that, as a scholarship student, her mother can’t afford to send her on expensive trips — leads adorable Lucy to “start getting sassy and talking back,” Aytes previews. Not surprisingly, the actress adds with a chuckle, April’s response to the attitude change will be eerily similar to co-star Yunjin Kim’s Season 2 catchphrase that the ABC promo department has been playing for weeks now: “Can’t have that!”

Mistresses: April and Lucy related casting scoop on season 2 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Mistresses from this week's (Posted on 2/25/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any info on the upcoming second seasons of the summer soaps Devious Maids or Mistresses? –Dylan
Ausiello: Tuesday is the maid’s day off at AA, so you’re going to have to be content with some Mistresses intel — and it involves the (relatively) straight-laced April (Rochelle Aytes) getting caught up in drama both juvenile (via her daughter Lucy’s heinous new classmate) and adult (brace for some half-nekkid gentlemen!). To be more specific, the show is casting the recurring role of 11-year-old Peyton, described as “a mini-Kardashian” (which is another way of calling her “a condescending, entitled, eye-rolling rich-bitch-in-training who thinks that every word that comes from April’s mouth is absurd, stupid, immature or just plain hopeless”). Knowing how April shut down her presumed-dead ex-hubby and his skeezer girlfriend last year, let’s hope she gets to unleash her delightful verbal venom on the little hellion, yes?
