Question: As much as I’m loving Sherlock‘s third season so far, I’m bummed about the lack of Irene Adler. Any chance she’ll resurface in Season 4? —Brandon
Ausiello: “It’s not impossible, because she’s still
alive and out there,” responds exec producer Steven Moffat. “But I was
really, really pleased with [Season 2's Irene-centric] ‘A Scandal in
Belgravia,’ and that sense of longing between those two characters. The
question is, can you do it again  without making it less good?
Are sequels ever as good? Do you really make more money or do you debase
the coinage? If we had as good a story as ‘Scandal’ and somewhere else
to take them, we’d do it again. But, in the meantime, we’re thrilled
with that episode and wary of touching it again. There are many other
stories tell.” Gotta admire his quality control.

Have you ever imagined Sherlock standing up in front of a room full of people and talking about how much he loves his best friend John? Because that's totally happening in season three! Well, kind of. Sherlock will be John's best man in his wedding to Mary, and yes, he will have to give a toast. But that's not the only thing he has to worry about: someone at the reception wants  the happy couple to suffer, so Sherlock has to give a winning speech and solve a case at the same time. Who else thinks he's more worried about expressing his feelings for John than about catching a killer?

Martin Freeman says when the show returns in January, we will find that John has “moved on” from where we left him in the end of the second season, and, in fact, has a new love! “He’s got his own life with a lovely woman who he lives with and works with, and he’s let that other part of his life fall by the wayside a little bit so when eventually, there is obviously a reunited moment, it’s going to have hilarious consequences,” Freeman says.

But of course! Any excuse to talk about Sherlock. Cocreator and star Mark Gatiss revealed on his Twitter the title of the first episode of season four: "The Empty Hearse." Sounds like the episode will be based on the original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story The Adventure of the Empty House. And hopefully, having the word "hearse" in the title means that we will find out just how Sherlock faked his death.

We don't have any spoilers, but we do have a big, fat piece of amazing Sherlock news. Benedict Cumberbatch told RadioTimes that Sherlock season four is officially a go! "We've agreed to two more series but I could get into trouble for saying that. All I know at the moment is I'm doing these three and another three," he says in the interview. And Sherlock fans across the globe vomit in excitement. No? Just us?

It's real, it's happening, and we could not be more excited!

Sherlock: Scoop on season 2 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Sherlock from this week's (Posted on 4/10/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: You never mention Sherlock! Any scoop would make me super happy! —Hanna
Ausiello: I spent the weekend devouring all three episodes of Season 2 (which premieres stateside on May 6) and I’m still basking in the afterglow. The Steven Moffat-penned, Paul McGuigan-directed opener, titled “A Scandal in Belgravia,” is nothing short of a masterpiece. It picks up right where the Season 1 cliffhanger left off and marks the introduction of True Blood‘s Lara Pulver as Irene Adler, a dominatrix who may be hot for but is definitely bothered by the iconic sleuth. Their “relationship” takes so many twists and turns throughout the 90 minutes that you literally don’t know where they stand with each other until the jaw-dropping final scene. Their first encounter is also pretty memorable (hint: one of them is completely naked). Episodes 2 and 3 are also stellar, but the premiere is an absolute work of art. I can’t say enough good things about it. PBS and the BBC should consider giving it a limited, Oscar-qualifying run in theaters. You think I’m kidding! Is this the face of someone that’s kidding?!
