Star Trek: Discovery: Season 5 "Inside The Final Season" Preview (Paramount+)
Here's the "Inside The Final Season" preview for the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery. I definitively need to go back and watch all of Star Trek: Discovery one of these days. It's definitely not perfect, but I've still really enjoyed what I've seen of Star Trek: Discovery so far. 😀

Star Trek: Discovery: Official Season 5 Trailer (Final Season)
Here's the official trailer for the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery. I know that there are a lot of people out there who don't like Star Trek: Discovery, and while I definitely don't think that it's perfect, I have still really enjoyed Star Trek: Discovery, and I personally am sad that the show is ending this season. That being said, it does look like season 5 of Star Trek: Discovery is going to be really good. I just hope that it gets a better ending than Star Trek: Enterprise got for a series finale. 😬

Star Trek: Lower Decks: Season 4 Official Trailer (SDCC 2023)
Here's the official trailer for season four of Star Trek: Lower Decks. It looks like season 4 of Star Trek: Lower Decks is going to be absolutely downright awesome, if you ask me! 😀 Side-note: I watched episode 2x07 "Those Old Scientists" of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which is the crossover episode with Star Trek: Lower Decks, last night, and I absolutely loved it! Admittedly, I definitely was somewhat skeptical about how well the crossover was all going to work out, since Star Trek: Lower Decks is a cartoon TV series, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a live-action TV series, and I wasn't sure how well Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome would do playing live-action versions of their characters, Boimler and Mariner, but I ultimately thought that they both did a fantastic job. Plus, I felt like the writers did an excellent job of combining the two shows just in general for the episode. 😀

Star Trek: Discovery: Scoop on the final two episodes of season 1 from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams
Here's some scoop on Star Trek: Discovery from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 2/1/18.
Anything Star Trek: Discovery? — Cherry
Now back in the Prime universe, the final two episodes of the season will be a race against the clock to prevent Starfleet from being annihilated. “As the crew of Discovery deals with the fallout of Mirror Universe Lorca, they must end the war with the Klingons once and for all,” showrunners Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Halberts tease. “Burnham is going to have to strike unexpected alliances in a mission that requires the Discovery team to take the fight directly to the Klingons. Will there be redemption for Burnham’s mutiny against Georgiou or Tyler’s attacks on Culber and Burnham? As the first season wraps up, the stakes have never been higher for the U.S.S. Discovery and we’re excited to answer many of the questions that have been asked since the first episode, as well as tease what’s to come.”

Book Review: Dark Intelligence (Book #1 in the Transformation trilogy) by Neal Asher
While I usually like to
start off my reviews on a positive note, especially when I’m reviewing a book
that I liked, and for the record, I really loved Dark Intelligence for the most part; I feel like I need to begin
this review by discussing what’s definitely the biggest complaint that I have
about this book. The reason why I want to start off this review by discussing
the biggest complaint that I have about Dark
Intelligence is because I want to preface this review by saying that Dark Intelligence is the first book by
Neal Asher that I’ve ever read. I feel like I need to be upfront about that
right from the start of this review in case people who’re much more familiar
with Asher’s books read this review, and feel like I don’t know what I’m
talking about. If people read this review and feel that way, I definitely
apologize for that. I always try my best to get the details regarding a book straight
whenever I write a review for it. That being said, while I really loved this
book and I was definitely blown away by the overall quality of Asher’s writing;
the biggest problem that I think this book has is that it definitely lacks a
sense of accessibility to people like me, who’ve never read any of Asher’s books
before.
When I originally bought my
copy of Dark Intelligence, which was well over a year ago, I was initially
unaware of the fact that while it’s the first book in the Transformation trilogy, it’s also a part of the Polity universe
that the majority of Asher’s books take place in; and that it builds upon
events that take place in some of Asher’s earlier books. It was only after I
had already started reading the book that I really started to realize how tied
in and connected to Asher’s previous books Dark
Intelligence truly is. I definitely found that rather frustrating and
confusing since this is the first book by Neal Asher that I’ve ever read, and I
had been really excited to read it ever since I first saw both Dark Intelligence, and the second book
in the Transformation trilogy, War Factory, at Barnes & Noble.
While I think it’s great
that Asher has created an elaborate universe for his books to take place in, I
can definitely see some people viewing the fact that a lot of Neal Asher’s
books are set in his Polity universe, and the fact that his books clearly build
upon each other as a deterrent from deciding to check out his books. I think
that would be a real shame, because Asher is definitely a very talented writer.
That being said, I really feel like Asher could have done a better job of
writing Dark Intelligence in such a
way that makes it accessible to new readers who’re relatively, if not entirely,
unfamiliar with his books; while also expanding the mythology of the Polity
universe that he’s introduced and developed in his previous books for his long-time
fans.

A Rant About Star Trek: Discovery
No matter how much news I hear about the upcoming new Star Trek series, Star Trek: Discovery,
I’m still not all that excited about the show yet. The premise of the
show just sounds kind of “iffy” to me. Plus, I also really hate the fact
that it’s going to be airing on CBS’ subscription streaming service,
CBS All Access. I already have a Netflix account, a subscription to the
monthly Y.A. book box, OwlCrate, and I also have various other bills
that I have to pay every month.
I’m definitely not a rich guy, so I don’t really like the idea of having to pay for the CBS All Access streaming service every month simply to be able to watch just one show. Honestly, I probably won’t be all that interested in watching anything else on CBS All Access. Even though I’m not all that excited about the show yet, I’ll definitely check out Star Trek: Discovery when it premieres. I’m just really hoping that I’ll be able to get more excited about the show once the cast is announced and promos for the show start to be released. As a Star Trek fan, the idea of finally having a new Star Trek TV series on the air is something that I feel like I should be excited about, but I’m honestly not all that jazzed about the show yet. (Sighs heavily) Okay, rant over.

Defiance: Welcome back, Everybody! (My thoughts on episode 3x01 “The World We Seize” & episode 3x02 “The Last Unicorns”)
Right off the bat, I have to
say that I really enjoyed the two-hour season three premiere of Defiance.
However, as you probably noticed in the title of this blog post, while this
episode was aired as a two-hour season premiere, it was really just the first
two episodes of season three aired back-to-back.
The first episode picked up
seven months after the events of the season two finale, and I have to say that
I thought the visual and special effects at the beginning of the episode were
really impressive. Nolan and Irisa, who were still in the stasis pod that they
got into at the end of the season two finale, were removed from the pod by
members of the Omec, a new alien race that was introduced in the season
premiere, and they were left stranded in a snowy area outside of Defiance.
Apparently, the Omec had long since thought to have gone extinct. Personally, I
really like the Omec for the most part so far. I think that introducing a new
alien race was a great move on the writers’ part, since I’ve always felt that
the level diversity of the different alien races on the show was somewhat
limited for a science fiction show. That being said, I’d like to go ahead and
mention that Conrad Coates who plays T’evgin reminds me a lot of Jessie
Lawrence Ferguson and the character he played in the Star Trek: The Next
Generation episode “Code of Honor”, Lutan. Honestly, I initially wondered if it
was the same actor who had played the two roles, so I decided to look on IMDB
to see if I was correct. Obviously, I was wrong, but I just thought that I
would mention the fact that I had originally thought it was Conrad Coates who
played the two roles.
We were also introduced to a
new Castithan, a man named General Rahm Tak, who’s played by Lee Tergesen. I
have to say that based on just these two episodes alone, I absolutely love
General Rahm Tak. It’s pretty obvious that Lee Tergesen is really enjoying
playing the part so far. I’m really hoping that Tergesen will be sticking
around for a while.
Nolan seemed to be under the
impression that he and Irisa could just return to Defiance like nothing had
changed after being in the stasis pod for seven months and after everything
that happened last season, which seemed pretty delusional on his part. At least
Irisa was able to recognize that she probably wasn’t going to be very popular
with the other citizens of Defiance after everything that happened last season.
Berlin definitely wasn’t happy to see Irisa again, because she blames Irisa for
Tommy’s death. That being said, I love Berlin and I thought that Anna Hopkins
did a great job of playing the part last season, so I’m thrilled to see that
she’s back for season three as a series regular. Berlin wasn’t the only person
who gave Irisa a hard time though; she was also harassed by other people
throughout the two episodes.

The Blacklist: Liz is still reeling from her fight with Tom, I’m still reeling from the revelation that Liz hates pancakes, and Red is busy just being Red (My thoughts on episode 1x20 “The Kingmaker (No. 42)”)
I’ve really been enjoying
The Blacklist lately and it’s been a while since I wrote a review for the show,
so I figured that I would get back to reviewing the show. Personally, I
thoroughly enjoyed this episode for a lot of reasons, so here are my thoughts
on the episode itself.
For starters, I thought that
The Kingmaker was a very interesting and all around great character. I would
even go as far to say that out of all the “Blacklist name of the week”
characters that the show has had, The Kingmaker is definitely one of my top
favorites at the moment. If you ask me, Linus Roache played the role very well,
and for some reason Roache’s portrayal of The Kingmaker reminded me of the
character Mr. Birch on the Syfy channel series Defiance and the way that Steven
McCarthy portrayed him on that show.
As weird as it may sound, the
plot of this episode also kind of reminded me of Scandal, or to be more
specific, Scandal’s season three finale, since The Kingmaker was political
strategist who was apparently behind the rise of many powerful politicians over
the years. This being The Blacklist, The Kingmaker’s strategies were shady and
illegal, but that’s one of the reasons why I was reminded of Scandal as I was
watching this episode.
At the beginning of the
episode, The Kingmaker was in Prague disguised as a chauffeur who was driving a
limo for a politician named Emil Dusek. Right away The Kingmaker showed just
how shady he is by turning the heat in the limo very high, prompting Dusek to
drink some water that The Kingmaker had drugged with a roofie. Dusek ended up
waking up naked next to a dead male escort just as the Czech police came to
arrest him for murder while The Kingmaker was shown at the airport listening to
a news broadcast that was announcing Dusek’s resignation from the Czech
parliament, now dressed like a sinister banker.
Dusek being framed was also
bad news for Red since he’s apparently one of Red’s allies, so Red spent most
of the episode doing what at this time I feel he has been doing ever since the
episode “The Good Samaritan (No. 106), which would be going around to various
people that he’s associated with over the years to deal with the fact that
people he had one point in the past viewed as an ally at the very least have
been betraying him. Red did mention in this episode that in his mind, he doesn’t
have any friends though, so that’s why I choose to refer to them as his former
allies rather than refer to them as his friends. I found Red’s interactions
with Nico especially amusing and their interaction with each other featured
some classic dialogue from Red. This whole episode featured some great dialogue
from Red though.

The Mentalist: Scoop on episode 6x17 "Silver Wings of Time" and more from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Shall I dare ask for a Mentalist scoop? –Sal
You shall! In this Sunday’s episode, Jane and the FBI scramble to prove a death row inmate’s innocence, thus pitting Jane against no less than Star Trek: TNG‘s god-like Q . “[Guest star] John De Lancie plays a man whose wife’s killer is about to be executed, and he and Jane square off over that,” exec producer Tom Szentgyorgyi previews. “John gives a spectacular performance, and was a great sparring partner for [Simon] Baker.”
Please! Do you have anything for Mentalist fans on Jane’s reaction to Lisbon’s new boyfriend? –Yara
While I had Szentgyorgyi on the phone to preview May sweeps/the season finale, I was sure to inquire what Jane was thinking as he sat alone on the sofa, after seeing Teresa run off for late-night pancakes with her new paramour, Pike. “I think Jane was feeling curiously like a third wheel – something he doesn’t feel very often – and wondering why he felt that way,” the EP answered. “Pike is with us through the end of the season, and he will become a increasingly important figure in Lisbon’s life, so Jane is wondering what he’s feeling, because he’s been the most important man in Lisbon’s life — and suddenly he might not be.”

A question for Star Trek fans
Hi, Everybody!
I’m contemplating reviewing each season of one of the Star Trek TV series, but I can’t decide between reviewing each season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine or reviewing each season of Star Trek: Enterprise first. Those are the only Star Trek TV series that I own every season of on DVD, so it would be a choice between those two shows. Admittedly, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise are my personal favorite series when it comes to which of the various Star Trek TV series that I like the most.
I only own the season 6 DVD set of Star Trek: Voyager at the moment though. I would eventually like to buy the other six seasons of Star Trek: Voyager, so I might do the same thing with that series at some point in the future. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate people’s feedback on whether I should start by reviewing Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, or if you would be more interested in me reviewing Star Trek: Enterprise first. If you could please, leave your response to my inquiry in the comment section of this post that would be wonderful. Thanks! :)

Star Trek: Enterprise-I miss this show so much
I don’t know why, but I’ve really been getting back into Star Trek lately. Perhaps it’s partially due to Star Trek Into Darkness being released in theaters. Anyway, I’ve been watching a lot of Star Trek: Voyager episodes again for the first time in years, and I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing with Star Trek: Enterprise.
I know that there are a lot of people who have issues with Star Trek: Enterprise and how it messed with the continuity and history of the franchise, but I for one really liked it. It was really interesting to see what Starfleet was like in its early days before they had fairly advanced ships and technology and before they had all the rules and regulations that frequently came into play in the previous TV series, such as the Prime Directive.
I love pretty much all of the characters on the show with the possible exception of Travis Mayweather. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike the character Travis. It’s just that he has never really stood out to me like the rest of the characters on the show did.
It’s such a shame that the show was canceled when it was. Personally, I thought season 4 was pretty good. The final episode was far from great due to the fact that it focused a lot on Counselor Troi and Commander Riker from Star Trek: The Next Generation instead of the cast of Star Trek: Enterprise, but the series finale could have been a lot worse, if you ask me. I definitely think I’ll watch some episodes of Star Trek; Enterprise again in the near future.
