Will Sonya get a love interest on Season 2 of The Bridge? — Tony
While a traditional romance isn't in the cards for Sonya, she does form an unlikely bond with someone who has a very close connection to her sister's murder. As Sonya attempts to get closure, she embarks on a "weird, messed-up relationship" with said person, according to creator Elwood Reid.

The Bridge: Casting related scoop on season 2 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on The Bridge from this week's (Posted on 2/28/14) Matt's Inside Line column.

I really enjoyed The Bridge. Is it coming back? –Jesse
Yes, the FX drama was renewed back in September – and now we have a sense of the new faces who will be showing up. You;ll meet Jack Dobbs, the blue-collar brother of the guy who killed Sonya’s sister and thus shares a strange connection with the lawman. The show is also casting the recurring roles of a deceptively sinister Mennonite woman and thirtysomething Lucy Solana aka Adriana’s significant other (who is surprisingly charmed by Matthew Lillard’s Frye).

The Bridge: Scoop on the future of the show from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on The Bridge from this week's (Posted on 9/12/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

Any news on a renewal for FX’s The Bridge? And if they do get one, any idea what road the producers plan to take since they don’t have Broen Season 2 yet as a guide? –Saadia
While there’s no word yet on Season 2, EP Elwood Reid knows this much about any possible future: “We’re not going to have a ‘serial killer of the season’ every year.” As he explains, the current case Sonya and Marco are poised to crack winds up “radically transforming the lives of most of our characters. The killer, in a very odd way, ‘connects’ people through his actions, so in the second season, we’ll explore a variety of things.”

The Bridge: Scoop on plans for a possible second season from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on The Bridge from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 8/8/13.

I heard some talk that The Bridge producers have already talked about what happens in season 2 but haven’t seen anything about renewal. Can you help clear up? Thanks — jHal
You’re probably referring to all the talk of season 2 that took place during the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association press tour. The show has not officially been renewed, but EP Elwood Reid explained that even though they have not gotten the official greenlight for a second season, “When you’re a writer, you immediately try to see where the show could go. The scary thing as a writer is when you start writing something and you don’t know what the next episode is. I was a novelist and I can’t tell you how many times I started a book and I run out of gas around page 100. The books that end up turning into novels, you just know there’s enough gas in that tank to get you there. We felt that way with The Bridge. There’s a lot here that if we’re lucky enough to get the ratings for a second season, we can go for a while.”
