The Goldbergs: Barry and Beverly related scoop on the upcoming Star Wars tribute episode from TVGuide's Natalie Abrams

Here's some scoop on The Goldbergs from TVGuide's Natalie Abrams' Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 4/22/14.

Any Goldbergs scoop? — Jan
In the upcoming Star Wars episode, Barry has to face the wrath of Beverly when she finds out that he has secretly joined the wrestling team — and he won't quit. Obviously, Bev won't take that sitting down. "I own him in front of the whole school — everyone," Wendi McLendon-Covey teases. Might that entail a mother-son wrestling match? "It's not exactly wrestling, but it's completely traumatizing for him."

Modern Family: Wendi McLendon-Covey to Return-TVLine

Wendi McLendon-Covey Modern Family

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Wendi McLendon-Covey will be reprising the role of Cameron's nemesis, Pam, an upcoming episode of Modern Family. Unfortunately, Michaela Watkins won't be reprising her role as Pam's partner, Susan, in the episode. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on McLendon-Covey's return:

This time around, Cam and Claire recruit contractor Pam to assist them with their house renovation/flipping project. “I think Cam has some ideas about the restoration, and he’s fighting [about it] with Claire,” explains McLendon-Covey. “So they get Pam involved.

“We’ll see how my contracting skills are,” the actress adds with a laugh. “We’ll see how comfortable I look with a hammer in my hand!”

Also on deck for McLendon-Covey: A three-episode return to CBS’ Rules of Engagement, which kicks off its seventh season on Feb. 4.

My thoughts: While I'm definitely disappointed that Michaela Watkins won't be appearing in the episode with Wendi McLendon-Covey, I'm really excited about this news. I love Wendi in the movie Bridesmaids, and I loved her in the first episode of Modern Family that she appeared in. I thought she and Eric Stonestreet played off each other very well, so I'm really looking forward to watching Cameron and Pam interact with each other in Wendi's next episode. That being said, I'm excited to hear that Cameron and Claire's house renovation/flipping project storyline will go beyond the most recent episode of Modern Family, because I always enjoy watching the two of them interact with each other.

Modern Family: Wendi McLendon-Covey to Guest-Star in a Season 4 Episode

Wendi-McLendon-Covey.jpg

According to Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez, Wendi McLendon-Covey will be guest-starring in a season 4 episode of Modern Family. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on McLendon-Covey's role:

The Bridesmaids star has booked a guest spot on ABC’s Modern Family playing one-half of a lesbian couple whose son gets into a fight with Lily on the first day of kindergarten. SNL alum Michaela Watkins will play her partner. “I can’t wait. I go in and film it tomorrow and Wednesday and Thursday,” McLendon-Covey tells EW. “It’ll be pretty fun.”

The actress, who will appear in the third episode of the season, jokes that she’s looking forward to taking on a role that is completely different than the types of characters she’s played before — because she’s playing a loving mother. “I usually play someone who hates her kids — this time I love my child!”

My thoughts: I have to say that I'm really excited about this news for several reasons. For starters, Wendi McLendon-Covey is one of the many things that I love about the movie Bridesmaids. Wendi McLendon-Covey was beyond hilarious in that movie. The other reason why I'm really excited about this news is the fact that Michaela Watkins will be playing her character's partner. I loved Michaela Watkins on Saturday Night Live, and I think Lorne Michaels made a huge mistake when he fired Watkins. I've really missed seeing Michaela Watkins on Saturday Night Live, so it will be a real treat to see her on Modern Family along with Wendi McLendon-Covey.
