Here's some Matty related scoop on season 2 of Awkward from TVLine's Awkward slide show by TVLine's Vlada Gelman.
SEASON 2 TEASE | After losing Jenna to his pal, Matty will be feeling a little low. “He's not in a good place,” attests Beau Mirchoff. “On the outside, he's fine, throws a party and everything's great. But deep down, he doesn’t know how to deal with it. This is the first time he's been rejected.” Making matters worse is that he can't even confide in his best friend. “That's a big problem,” he continues. “The first few episodes of Season 2 [are about] Matty trying to make everything OK when he's not OK inside, and Jake starts to see, like, 'What's up with Matty? He's acting kind of different.'” Perhaps he's trying to decide how to get his girl back...? “It's definitely a decision Matty struggles with,” teases Mirchoff. “Part of him wants to fight for her, and then the other side just wants to curl up in a ball and let everything happen the way it's happening.”
MOST AWKWARD MOMENT | Nothing says uncomfortable like being a third wheel. “The stuff with Jenna and Jake – that's all awkward,” says Mirchoff. “There's one episode where I'm tagging along and follow them around.”
TEAM MATTY OR JAKE? | Prepare to be shocked because Mirchoff is not cheering for himself! “At this point, Jake is definitely the right choice for her. As Season 2 progresses and Matty changes and matures and is more honest with his feelings and upfront about things, maybe I'll be Team Matty.”
