Smash: Casts Daniel Sunjata in Season 2-TVLine

According to TVLine's Vlada Gelman,  Daniel Sunjata has been cast in a recurring guest-star role for season 2 of Smash. Here's an excerpt from the article:

The actor, who most recently appeared on Grey’s Anatomy but is best known as Rescue Me‘s Franco, will play a love interest for Debra Messing’s Julia. Fans will recall that Julia nearly ended her marriage last season by having an affair with one of Bombshell‘s stars. Although the marital relationship appeared to be intact at season’s end, Brian D’Arcy James, who plays Julia’s hubby Frank, is exiting the series.

Sunjata stars in White Collar creator Jeff Eastin’s pilot Graceland, which received a series pickup in June.

Smash returns to NBC — with new cast members Krysta Rodriguez (Gossip Girl) and Jeremy Jordan (Broadway’s Newsies) and guest star Jennifer Hudson — at midseason.

My thoughts: I've tried to get into watching Smash several times, and a part of me thinks that I should try one more time to truly get into watching the show. I loved Daniel Sunjata on Rescue Me and I loved him on Grey's Anatomy, so I kind of want to see him on Smash. However, now that Josh Safran is the showrunner for Smash, I'm extremely hesitant to give the show another chance. I already suffered through several seasons of Gossip Girl with Josh Safran serving as the show's executive producer, slowly running the show into the ground more and more. I don't really want to watch Smash if he's going to do the same thing with the show.
