‘ARROW’ BOSS: FINALE IS A ‘FEATURE FILM’
“Like River Song I’m afraid of giving away spoilers,” jokes Arrow exec producer Andrew Kreisberg. But here’s what he did say when EW spoke with him about the upcoming Arrow finale, which will bring to a head many of the threads we’ve been following this season, specifically, Merlyn and Oliver’s big beef.
“For us, episode 22, in a way, is the season finale and episode 23 is the feature film that gets released over the summer,” he says. “[Episode] 22 would be the finale on any other series and 23 would take it to a whole different level. It’s bigger, we spent more time on it, we had additional shooting days, we shot on old Watchmen sets, we spent a lot more money on it, so it feels bigger and epic and it almost feels like a big summer movie.”
And as fans might guess, the plot of this movie is Merlyn vs. Arrow, a feud Kreisberg says they didn’t want to sell short. “In the comic books, Merlyn is his greatest nemesis. He’s the Joker to Green Arrow’s Batman. So it felt natural and right that it should come down to the two of them. But it’s not just a fisticuffs. There are a lot of emotions tied up in their relationship.”
The season finale airs May 15.
