According to Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez, Scott Foley has been promoted to series regular status for season 3 of Scandal after joining the show as a recurring guest-star during the second half of season 2. Here's an excerpt from the article, which includes a statement from Scott Foley regarding his promotion:
“I’m thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people,” Foley said in a statement. “Shonda and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling.”
At the end of the ABC show’s second season, Foley’s character Jake was tossed into a torture pit (the same one that broke Gladiator Huck back in his CIA days), leaving us to wonder if and/or when he’d ever be released.

My thoughts: Let me start off by saying that I'm several episodes behind on watching season 2 of Scandal at the moment, so I haven't seen the season finale yet and I've only seen a few of the episodes that Scott Foley appeared in. That being said, I've really liked what I've seen of Scott Foley's character, Jake, so I'm really excited that he's going to be a series regular next season. I've been a big fan of his for quite a while now, and I especially loved him on Grey's Anatomy. I do think that Jake is kind of creepy though. It will definitely be interesting to see what Shonda Rhimes and the other writers' long-term plans for the character are, because based on what I've seen of Jake, I think he needs to be redeemed a little bit.
