According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, HBO has renewed Looking for a second season. The exact episode count for season 2 has yet to be decided. Additionally, Lauren Weedman (Doris), Raúl Castillo (Richie) and Russell Tovey (Kevin) have been promoted to series regular status for season 2. Here's an except from the article:
Additionally, three fan favorites who appeared in Season 1 as guest stars — Lauren Weedman (Dom’s hilariously acid-tongued BFF Doris), Raúl Castillo (Patrick’s BF Richie) and Russell Tovey (Patrick’s boss Kevin) — have been promoted to series regulars in Season 2. (Hmm… are we getting a full-fledged Richie-Patrick-Kevin triangle next season?) The trio join current series regulars Groff (Patrick), Frankie J. Alvarez (Agustín) and Murray Bartlett (Dom).
An exact episode count for Season 2, meanwhile, is still being determined (the eight-episode first season wraps on March 9).
Production will resume later this year in San Francisco.

My thoughts: For the record, I don't have HBO, so I haven't had a chance to watch Looking yet. I've heard a lot of good things about the show though, and now that it has been renewed I'm definitely going to buy the first season on DVD when it's released. Being bisexual myself, I think it's always great to see TV shows with LGBT characters do well. Now that Queer As Folk and The L Word have both been off the air for several years, I'm really excited that there's finally another TV show that focuses primarily on the LGBT community on TV. This is definitely good news. :)
