Their current "we can't be friends" situation won't exactly stick, but that doesn't mean they'll rekindle their relationship either. "Nothing about Elena and Damon will ever be firm, only because their relationship is so fiery and complicated," executive producer Caroline Dries says. "But their feelings will be expressed by the end of the season." (Translation: The two will share an intense, emotional scene in the finale.) But it will be Damon's big moment with another lady in Mystic Falls that will have people talking after the finale airs.
