'Two and a Half Men' EP Chuck Lorre: 'I offered to quit the show'-From Inside the Box-Zap2it

charlie-sheen-chuck-lorre.jpgIt's been quite the year for "Two and a Half Men" EP Chuck Lorre. And it turns out when the whole Charlie Sheen brouhaha was emerging, Lorre was willing to take the hit.

"I offered to quit the show last winter," Lorre tells TV Guide. "I said, 'Listen, if for some reason I'm now the Antichrist I'm happy to leave. It's not in my interest to stop the show, and I certainly don't want to put all these people out of work. Keep going. Get another guy. Don't stop on my account."

He adds that the relationship between himself and Sheen became so toxic, certainly aided by Sheen's wild barbs, that there was no room for reconciliation.

Lorre says he told Warner Bros and CBS, "I can't work with a guy who has decided that he hates my guts."

He then explains what factored into the ultimate decision regarding Lorre and Sheen's fate as well as the future of the highly-rated sitcom.

"[The studio and network] chose to make a moral decision as opposed to a financial one," Lorre says. "But people were really frightened that they were signing off on what could have had devastating consequences. This was not a game. This was drug addiction writ large. This was big-time cocaine and in his own words, an 'epic drug run' that could have ended with either his death or someone else's."

In the end, it appears they made the right decision. "Two and a Half Men" signed on Ashton Kutcher to play a new character, Walden Schmidt. The ratings have remained steady, if not slightly up, over Sheen's final year with the show. And Lorre no longer has employees calling him "a little maggot."

Perhaps that's winning?

Brooke Mueller's kids go to Charlie Sheen while she 'gets better'-Pop2it-Zap2it

brooke-mueller-charlie-sheen-divorce.jpgYou know times are tough when Charlie Sheen is the best option as a role model and caretaker.

Brooke Mueller was arrested on Saturday (Dec. 3) for cocaine possession and misdemeanor 3rd degree assault after fighting a woman as she came out of a bar. The officers entered a club to find her, where they found the drugs on her person.

Sheen heard the news and returned from a trip to Colombia, concerned about his 2-year-old twins, who were with a nanny while Mueller was out on the night in question. Mueller had custody of the kids at the time.

TMZ reports that the kids are headed back from Aspen now to be with Sheen, who will take care of them as soon as they are home, with some assistance from Mueller's concerned parents.

No word on Mueller's plan of action once she deals with her legal woes. This summer, she spent time in Mexico, testing out a drug called Ibogaine, which is supposed to cure addiction, but is illegal in the U.S.

Perhaps we now know why.

Charlie Sheen's Anger Management Headed to FX-TVLine

Charlie Sheen’s new comedy Anger Management has been picked up by FX, the network announced late Thursday.

The cabler has ordered 10 episodes of the sitcom, loosely based on the Joe Roth-produced 2003 feature starring Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler, to premiere in summer 2012. As previously reported, comedy vet Bruce Helford (George Lopez, The Drew Carey Show) will serve as showrunner.

“We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie’s acting talents — and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play,” said FX prez John Landgraf. “Two and a Half Men [reruns have] been an outstanding component of FX’s schedule for the past 14 months, and we have every confidence that Anger Management will soon be as well.”

Over the summer, Sheen said he chose to follow up his rocky run on Two and a Half Men with Anger Management because of both the “great concept” and the opportunity to have “real ownership in the series” and “a certain amount of creative control.”

There’s no word if Sheen’s contract included a morality clause. Our guess is it did.

It's Official: Warner Bros., Charlie Sheen, Chuck Lorre Reach Settlement-TVLine

The national nightmare is over: Warner Bros. Television and Charlie Sheen have reached a settlement in their nasty legal kerfuffle triggered by Sheen’s $100 million lawsuit against the studio and Two and a Half Men boss Chuck Lorre.

Here’s the official statement: “Warner Bros. Television, Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen have resolved their dispute to the parties’ mutual satisfaction. The pending lawsuit and arbitration will be dismissed as to all parties. The parties have agreed to maintain confidentiality over the terms of the settlement.”

Financial details were not disclosed, but various reports put Sheen’s haul at roughly $25 million (a figure that represents backend money owed to him as opposed to damages).

The deal — which comes exactly a week after Men returned to record ratings with new leading man Ashton Kutcher — presumably brings to a close one of the ugliest spats in Hollywood history. It also arrives as Sheen is looking to make a TV comeback with Anger Management, a half-hour comedy based on the 2003 Jack Nicholson-Adam Sandler flick.

Counterpunch! Charlie Sheen Stars In Comedy Central's Most-Watched Roast Ever-TVLine

No, it’s not 28.7 million viewers. But it’s something.

On the same night that his former stomping grounds, Two and a Half Men, scored its largest audience and demos ever, Charlie Sheen gave Comedy Central its most-watched roast in channel history.

Monday’s Roast of Charlie Sheen drew 6.4 million total viewers with its 10 o’clock airing, while scoring a 4.5 rating in the 18-49 demo. It also registered an 8.7 rating in the cabler’s targeted Men 18-34 demo. All of those tallies represent all-time highs for Comedy Central roasts.

Across multiple plays, more than 10 million people saw Sheen get his.

Kate Walsh to Roast Sheen (?!), X Factor Sneak Peek, Chuck Scoop, and More-TVLine

The remainder of roasters taking part in Comedy Central’s skewering of Charlie Sheen have been revealed — and one of these names is definitely not like the others.

Taking the stage to “jokingly” bash the infamous actor are comedians Jon Lovitz, Patrice O’Neal, and Amy Schumer, fan fave William Shatner and… Private Practice‘s Kate Walsh?! So strange, but oddly enough true.

Sheen’s roast shoots this Saturday, to air Monday, Sept. 19 at 10/9c — one hour after the particularly new season of Two and a Half Men debuts.

Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

• An all-new, eight-minute promo for Simon Cowell’s The X Factor will debut this Sunday, following Fox’s afternoon NFL broadcast. Fret not if you miss it — the same teaser will air later that evening during Family Guy.

• Speaking of The X Factor, Brit host Steve Jones is set to co-host Fox’s live Countdown to the Emmys special on Sunday, Sept. 18 with previously announced emcee Nancy O’Dell.

• Zachary Levi will step behind the Chuck camera for a third time in the NBC spy dramedy’s upcoming fifth and final season, and here’s the best part: He’s directing the episode guest-starring his pal Danny Pudi (Community).

The Hatfields and McCoys cast continues to grow: Jena Malone (Sucker Punch) has joined the TNT miniseries as Nancy McCoy, “Roseanna’s ruthless cousin who uses her feminine wiles to wreak revenge on the Hatflieds,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

Rescue Me‘s series-ender was red-hot in the ratings on Wednesday night, delivering the FX drama’s largest audience (2.33 million total viewers) since the Season 4 finale. In the coveted 18-49 demo, it marked a high since the Season 5 opener.

• Previous Rizzoli & Isles guest stars Jacqueline Bisset and Billy Burke will return for the TNT drama’s Season 2 finale this December, per The Hollywood Reporter.
