While speaking with Josh Dallas about this week’s David/Charming-heavy episode, Matt Mitovich picked his brain about Brothers & Sisters alum John Pyper-Ferguson’s character, who thus far has only been described as the widowed father to a young boy. “I can’t tell you anything,” Dallas hedged. “Just know that he’s an outsider.” Speaking of outsiders, Dallas was slightly more forthcoming with a status report on wayward driver Greg Mendell, played by Ethan Embry. “In this Sunday’s episode, you see Greg grilling Belle about what she actually saw that night at the car accident,” he said, musing: “Hmm, why does he want to know…?”

Ausiello: Officially, he’s playing a mysterious Storybrooke visitor. Unofficially, Embry fits the description of a character named Bennett that the show was recently casting. The mid-30s guy next door-type is sweet, charming, intelligent and funny — at least on the surface. Beneath the surface, he possesses a darkness, as well as a willingness to fight to the bitter end for his beliefs and (this is where things get interesting) to prove that his way of life is in the right. What does it all mean?!?!

Ausiello: I can confirm that Patrick Dempsey will make an appearance in “Beautiful Doom,” but when and in what context I’m not saying (hint: because I don’t know myself).

Question: Loved seeing Ethan Embry on Grey’s Anatomy as Arizona’s prosthetist. Will he be back? —Nina 
Ausiello: I was under the impression the role was recurring, but I was wrong. As of now he’s not slated to return. The good news: In a few months you can catch him on Once Upon a Time!
