And while that sounds merry, it’s really not, because the anchorman and his progeny aren’t exactly the closest. After all, Junior’s a “gross dirtbag who invented wine for dudes,” showrunner Tracey Wigfield teases. Seriously. wine. for. dudes. “Each bottle was kissed by a playmate,” Wigfield explains, “It was made in vats of electric guitars underneath a rollercoaster, and the flavors it came in were, like, black and grey.” Because red, rosé, and white are just too feminine, you know?

Expect to see Tina Fey leaning into her inner Jack Donaghy to play Diana in scenes where she takes advantage of her position at the network to make her employees (including Carol!) uncomfortable. And though the episode had been written long before this week’s news cycle surrounding Harvey Weinstein, much of what the staff says in it applies to any harassment case. But don’t worry if this all sounds too heavy for a comedy series: The show mines humor out of Katie’s realization of who her mentor is — and the final act delivers a kooky twist in the vein of 30 Rock.

You’re in for a musical treat in the second episode this season, courtesy of Jeff Richmond (a.k.a. Tina Fey’s husband and writer of classics like “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah” from 30 Rock and “Peeno Noir” on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), who composed a new original for the newsroom sitcom. When Fey’s Sheryl Sandberg-like new boss Diana St. Tropez starts changing things around MNN, Nicole Richie’s anchor Portia is none too pleased. “Diana ends up getting in a little bit of a squad feud with Portia,” creator Tracey Wigfield teases. “It results in Portia making a ‘Swish Swish’/’Bad Blood’-style video against this powerful businesswoman, using the people in the office.” The song Richmond came up with, Wigfield says, rivals those put out by Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. “I was like ‘Holy sh–, you should just be a billionaire writing songs for Katy Perry,'” she recalls of hearing it for the first time. “Like, ‘Why are you wasting time scoring our show?’”
