Haven: Music related scoop and scoop on the end of the series from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Haven from this week's (Posted on 10/5/15) Matt's Inside Line column.

Could you please tell me who sings the song for the Haven Season 5 commercial? –Dayla
That is “The Last Boat’s Leaving,” by Bachelorette. And if I may attempt a clumsy segue, I’d like to point out that Syfy’s Haven won’t be “leaving” viewers hanging when it wraps its five-season run (starting this Friday), seeing as the final episodes were very much crafted as an ending to the series.

Syfy has kept us in the dark about Haven Season 5B. Is there anything you can get your hands on? –Joel
‘Member that morsel of scoop I shared along with the first photo from 5B? Well, here is the complete teaser from showrunner Matt McGuinness, for you to parse and process: “The tsunami of troubles brought by Duke has Haven-ites locked down for their own safety. The town is a war-zone, with troubles shutting off entire neighborhoods. Fortunately, Audrey and Nathan are locked down together, which is nice for them. Even in this maelstrom, they work seamlessly to protect they town they love. But, as the season progresses, they must take some dangerous solo missions — especially hard as they seem to have grown closer than ever….”

When Haven returns, how is Duke going to handle knowing he’s unleashed all those troubles? –Aimee
As we await word on when Season 5 of the Syfy drama will resume, I hope I can tide you over with this: Presented with your question, executive producer Matt McGuinness answers, “Duke will struggle with the guilt of causing some serious pain to the town, and deal with it in a very Duke way: By being selfish, noble, clever, and brave — in that order.”

Haven‘s winter finale is upon us — how much wine will we need to get through it? –Dawn
How much have you got…? A lot goes down in Friday’s episode, given the “mother” of a bombshell that Charlotte dropped on Audrey. When all is said and done — and following the reveal of one of the coolest Troubles ever plus a highly entertaining exchange of words between Audrey and Mara – no fewer than two major characters will elect to make a tremendous sacrifice in the name of Haven’s greater good. And the very final scene? Creeeeepy.

Ausiello: I can confirm that the actor (AKA Nostradamus on Reign) will join the Syfy drama in a recurring role, kicking off in 2015. Not sure about the Sandman part, but it’s a holiday week and I’ve got stuff to do so, sure, he’s playing The Sandman.

Here's some scoop on Haven from this week's (Posted on 9/5/14) Matt's Inside Line column.

With less than a week to the Season 5 premiere, feel like sharing any Haven scoop? Anything on Jennifer’s fate? Dave’s fate? –Michelle
Jennifer’s fate is the hot topic as the season premiere plays out – different people need to find her for very different reasons. Things don’t look very good for Dave, either – though there’s a final scene with him that will make you go hmmm. Now, I present you with a game: See if you can ID who says quips of these premiere quotes:
A) “ That lighthouse just can’t catch a break.”
B) “You try operating a supernatural doorway to another dimension using a vampire novel and a positive attitude!”
C) “The handsome ones don’t have to be very smart, do they?”
D) “Be careful, she took down Dwight.” / “And I will never let him hear the end of it.”
E) “I’ll always love you, Parker.”

Will we see Colin Ferguson back on Haven? –lilslim
Outside of the “previously on” catch-up segment that opens up the Sept. 13 Season 5 premiere, no, you will not see William again – but make no mistake, his presence is very much felt through the first episodes.

Haven: Scoop on the possibility of season 5 being the final season of the show from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Haven from this week's (Posted on 7/1/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Is Season 5 going to be Haven’s last? —Geoffrey
Ausiello: “It very well could be,” Eric Balfour ventured when we saw him at the Saturn Awards. “Nobody at the network’s said that, but we are viewing it that way.” To the point that at least one of the producers “promised that he’s shooting two endings,” one of which will afford proper closure. As Balfour explains, “The writers are of the opinion that you don’t get the opportunity to see the finish line very often on a television series, so knowing that we have the ability to sort of plan for that – and we have [the length of] two seasons to do it, it’s not like it’s tomorrow — I actually am of the opinion that I hope we do it, because I would love to give the fans a real ending and honor the show that way.”

Haven: Laura Mennell Cast as Scientist in Season 5

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, Laura Mennell has been cast in a recurring guest-star role for the upcoming 26-episode fifth season of Haven, which is currently filming on location in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Mennell's role:

TVLine has learned exclusively that Laura Mennell, who played the “suggestive” Nina on Syfy’s Alphas, has joined Haven Season 5 in the recurring role of a brilliant (and, well, beautiful) epidemiologist from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who fears the titular town is on the verge of a deadly viral outbreak.

Mennell’s character is described as “a force to be reckoned with,” as Audrey (played by Emily Rose), Nathan  (Lucas Bryant) and Duke (Eric Balfour) quickly will discover. And while Dwight (Adam Copeland) will work overtime to keep hidden Haven’s secrets, the CDC whiz unknowingly uncovers a genetic marker found only in Troubled people. Could that mean a cure is around the corner…?!

Link to the full article:‘Haven’ Season 5 Casts Laura Mennell of ‘Alphas’ as Scientist | TVLine

My thoughts: I've never seen any of Laura Mennell's work, so I can't comment on her acting. That being said, the storyline that Mennell is going to be involved with next season sounds very interesting. For the record, I only started watching Haven shortly after the show was renewed for a fifth season, and I've only scene the first three seasons of the show at the moment. I'm waiting until season four comes out on DVD to watch that season. Based on what I've seen throughout the show's first three seasons, I kind of like the idea of some kind of genetic marker possibly playing a key role in ending the Troubles for good. That makes sense to me since it seems like when one person has a Trouble of some kind, there are other members of their family who also have Troubles.

Given the fact that I just started watching Haven, I personally hope that season five doesn't end up being the last season even though there will be 26 episodes in season five, which will be aired in two separate batches of 13 episodes as if it were two separate seasons. Unfortunately, I have a feeling the reason the Syfy channel ordered 26 episodes for season five was so they could get two seasons worth of episodes without having the show's production costs go up all that much before they decide to end the show.

I hope that I'll be proven wrong about season five being the last season of Haven though. One of the reasons why I love Haven so much is that it reminds me a lot of Grimm since they are both crime solving shows that involve elements of fantasy. Plus, the overall tone of both shows feel very similar to me in the sense that while they are both dramas, both Haven and Grimm also have a lighthearted and somewhat comedic feel to them as well. If you're a fan of the show Haven, and you've never watched Grimm before, I strongly recommend checking it out. I think that Haven fans would also really like Grimm.

Haven: Scoop on the possibility of Audrey and Nathan's rings being featured in season 5 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Haven from this week's (Posted on 6/12/14) Matt's Inside Line column.

Do you remember the rings on Haven? Nathan found his after his dad’s death and Audrey got hers from Vince. Will we find out something more about those in Season 5? –Natalia
I can assure you that yes, the rings will play a role in the show’s supersized new season.

Haven: Casting related scoop on The Troubles in season 5 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Haven from this week's (Posted on 5/7/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I know it’s probably early yet, but anything on the huge, final season of Haven? –Amy
Ausiello: Could the Syfy series possibly end with the titular town cured of all its troubles? That’s something to ponder as the show sets out to cast the recurring role of a military vet/doctor who comes to suspect that science might be able to snuff the supernatural.

Haven: Scoop on the season 4 finale (Episode 4x13 "The Lighthouse (Part 2)") from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Haven from this week's (Posted on 12/5/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

Thanks for the opportunity to ask about the Haven finale (airing Dec. 13). I know Jennifer is from the same world as Audrey and William and thus is one of the people needed to open the portal so they can send William through. Will we find out who the fourth person is? Also, how much is the end of the episode going to make us scream? I’m predicting some bad stuff for Nathan. –Andrea
Yes, you will find out who the fourth person is — but will he/she gladly go along with this scheme? Yes, the final moments will make you scream – in part because, yes, what happens could very well be described as “some bad stuff for Nathan.” Oh, and there’s also one, possibly two deaths.

Haven: Nathan and Audrey related scoop on season 4 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Haven from this week's (Posted on 8/29/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

Do you have any scoop on Haven? Will Nathan and Audrey be reunited early in the season? –Stephanie
Early might be stretching it. Granted, I’ve only seen the season premiere thus far, but there are obstacles a-plenty standing in the way of them finding each other. For one, Nathan is kinda persona non grata, seeing as his actions in the finale failed to do squat. (Jordan, for one, is very much not a fan of his.) Secondly, Audrey doesn’t believe she needs to be “found,” wherever she now is. In fact, she seems pretty content just kicking back and schmoozing Colin Ferguson’s charming mystery man.

Haven: Audrey related scoop on the season 4 premiere (Episode 4x01 "Fallout") from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Haven from this week's (Posted on 8/8/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

With all the craziness that went down in the season finale, are we going to be seeing a whole new Haven or will it still be Audrey’s story? –Aimee
As Season 4 opens on Sept. 13, the titular town will be “going through some serious growing pains,” EPs Matt McGuinness and Gabrielle Stanton tell the Inside Line. “Of course Audrey will be there — Haven and Audrey are inexorably tied — but it’s a ‘difficult’ union. The real questions are: Who is Audrey? Where did she come from? Who does she really love? And we’ll dealing with that big-time this season!”

Haven: Scoop on Laura Vandervoort's role and episode 3x12 "Reunion" from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Haven from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 12/13/12.

Haven | Smallville alum Laura Vandervoort kicks off her two-episode arc this Friday, starting with Season 3′s penultimate episode, and this much viewers have gleaned about her heretofore top-secret role: She is playing Arla, the wife of James Cogan (aka The Colorado Kid) — a neat trick since sooo many years have passed and she looks… well, like a twentysomething Laura Vandervoort. The actress describes Arla as someone who is “out for vengeance” yet is also “a true romantic who has been hurt.” The stone-cold revenge-seeker in her, though, promises to show fans “someone they haven’t seen me play before,” she raves. (I’ve seen this run’s final two hours, and Arla plays a pivotal role in some wiiiild stuff that goes down, as Audrey debates her fate/date with The Barn.)

Haven: Nathan and Audrey related scoop and more from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Haven from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 11/1/12.

Any chance that fans of Haven‘s Nathan/Audrey (Naudrey) will have something to look forward to anytime soon? All this angst and moments with other people *cough* Jordan *cough* is killing us. Aimee
Your patience, it seems, will be rewarded. “Audrey has been pushing Nathan away to protect him from her own fate,” EP Jim Dunn notes. “But very soon, Audrey will confront a tragedy that makes her realize just how deep her feelings for Nathan really are.” In other news, I have nailed down Laura Vandervoort’s Haven visit: The Smallville alum will appear in the final two episodes of the season, airing Friday, December 14 and Friday, December 21.
