Mad Men: Scoop on the season 6 premiere from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Mad Men from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat for Tuesday 3/19/13.

Daisy: I need something on Mad Men now—I can't wait until April 7 for the premiere!
Fortunately for you, we've seen the episode and can assure you it's worth the wait! Here are five things you can expect to see: a wedding, two deaths, Megan rocking several colorful bikinis, a dramatic physical transformation from Betty and one character dropping an F-bomb (is that even allowed on AMC?!). As for the finale's big question—did Don cheat on Megan?—let's just say that will no longer be a question by the end of the two-hour premiere.

Mad Men: Scoop on the future of Don and Megan's marriage in season 6 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Mad Men from this week's (Posted on 9/18/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: If you run into Mad Men boss Matt Weiner at the Emmys this weekend, ask him whether Jessica Pare will be returning next season. The finale certainly made it seem like the Don-Megan union was on its last legs. —Christine
Ausiello: The finale gave me the same feeling, but when TVLine talked with the Mad man at last weekend’s Creative Arts ceremony, he gave a characteristically cryptic reply that seemed to imply that the Drapers would stay together — at least, for now. “He loves her, and he gave her what she wanted,” he said. “I don’t know that the marriage is over.” After all, Mrs. Draper’s determination to act was clear from the start, even if her husband didn’t take it seriously at first. “If you go back to the beginning of the season … and hear her talking about wanting to be an actress, you realize this is where it ended up, how driven she was. Not that she used him, but that he gave this to her,” Weiner says. “No matter what, we’re seeing that it was not the fantasy that he had about their relationship.”

Mad Men's Matthew Weiner: Megan's Gone-TVLine

According to TVLine's Kimberly Roots, the creator of Mad Men, Matthew Weiner, is hinting at the possibility that Jessica Paré is leaving the show. Here's an excerpt from the article, which includes Mattew Weiner's comments on Jessica Paré's future on the show:

It may have, according to showrunner Matthew Weiner. Toward the very end of the finale, “We see her on the [Butler Shoes commercial] set and we realize that she’s gone,” says the series creator.

Weiner’s comments come in an AMC-produced behind-the-scenes look at the episode, in a segment that examines the way Megan’s barely there acting career gets a big boost from her hubby. Don “knows that if he gives Megan what she wants, she could possibly leave him,” Weiner says, adding that nevertheless, the screen test changes Draper’s mind about helping his ">wife land the commercial audition.

“I think it’s almost a story of sacrifice, that he sees her on that film and falls in love with her again and realizes that he has to do this,” Weiner says.

"It’s possible that Weiner solely spoke metaphorically, and that although a huge emotional gulf may grow between Mr. and Mrs. Draper next season, Jessica Paré’s Megan certainly will be present and on screen. But Megan was a very polarizing character that invoked the ire of Mad Men diehards who felt her scenes came at the sacrifice of screen time for other members of the ensemble.

My thoughts: I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Jessica Paré possibly leaving the show. On the one hand, I've always loved the dynamic between Don and Megan, I loved Megan's interactions with the kids, and I loved the character Megan in general. On the other hand, as the season continued I felt more and more like Megan was more interested in pursuing an acting career than she was interested in being Don's wife. Also, Don wasn't very supportive of Megan being an actress at times, so it's obvious that they both want different things in life to a certain extent and that they shouldn't stay married to each other.

I suppose they could always keep Megan around even if she isn't married to Don anymore, but that wouldn't make too much sense since they wouldn't really have anything connecting them to each other like kids. That's why it makes sense that Betty is still on the show even though she isn't married to Don anymore. From a personal standpoint, I'd love to see Megan stick around, but from a storytelling standpoint, I don't think it makes sense for Jessica Paré to remain on the show as a part of the cast.

Mad Men: Season 5 Preview, Jessica Paré-TVLine

Here's an article by TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich about the season 5 premiere of Mad Men. In the article, Jessica Paré shares her thoughts on the season premiere and gives some scoop on the rest of season 5. Here's an excerpt from the article:

And if the Season 5 opener was any indication, Mr. and Mrs. Draper’s newlywed phase is not without its hiccups. So what sort of obstacles will be thrown their way that might not be able to be solved with angry floor sex?

“Is there really any problem that can’t be solved that way?” Paré said with a laugh when presented with just that question.

Turning serious, Mad Men‘s relative newcomer points out that since this “is not a show about people that have everything they want and are just happy, obviously there will be some friction between [Don and Megan]. I think the seeds are … pretty well-sown in the first episode.”

Case in point: In the drama’s two-hour opener, Megan (Mistake No. 1!) surprised her husband with a 40th birthday party, at which she (Mistake No. 2!) serenaded him with a sexy rendition of a song, while his many “intimates” watched on with degrees of bemusement, astonishment or, yes, even arousal. (Hi, Harry.)

Megan saw the gesture as romantic; Don declared it an embarrassment.

“She’s definitely a lighter person,” Paré observes of her alter ego, who elsewhere in the premiere likened herself to a smiler adrift in SCDP’s sea of smirkers. “She has more light to her than most of the characters, while there’s a lot of sarcasm and darkness in [Don]. So we’ll definitely see more of that [sort of conflict], I’m sure.”

Mad Men: Megan related scoop from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Mad Men from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat Daily for Tuesday 3/27/12.

Liz: What's coming up for Megan on Mad Men? She was amazing in the premiere!
Wasn't she though?! We chatted with Jessica Paré aka Mrs. Draper and she tells us that Megan will be focused on pleasing Don at home and at the office. "She wants to be good at [her job]," Paré says. "She wants to please Peggy, she wants to please Don, obviously professionally as well as in other areas [laughs]...she is not without ambition for sure." Pare says we'll also continue to see the friendship between Megan and Peggy. "They're friends, and in fact Peggy has taken Megan under her wing in a certain way, not totally unlike the way Don took Peggy under his wing," she explains. "Peggy is someone Megan looks up to and admires and actually really likes."
