Question: Can you give some Grey’s Anatomy spoilers, specifically Arizona and Callie? —Barbara
Ausiello: Shonda Rhimes gave me some additional intel on the “exciting romances” Callie and Arizona will be embarking on in Season 12. For starters, their new squeezes will not be characters we’ve met before. Additionally, “They’re going to both be dating women,” Rhimes confirms, adding, “I do want to honor the fact that Callie is bisexual, and we’ve established that she’s dated guys. But in terms of where she’s going now, she’s going to be dating a woman.”

Question: Haven’t heard much about Grey’s lately. How is Shonda Rhimes planning to keep Season 12 fresh? —Isaac
Ausiello: Well, for starters, Maggie will be a little less homeless. “I can tell you straight up that Maggie has a home,” declares portrayer Kelly McCreary. “Remember how we never saw last season where Maggie lives? Now she lives with Amelia and Meredith in Ellis’ house, which is super cool. There will definitely be some conflict, but of the hilarious variety as opposed to the sisters-pulling-each-other’s-hair-out variety. You can expect some ‘clashes of the titans’ going on.” McCreary also confirms that Rhimes plans to “explore Maggie’s love life some more” in Season 12.

Well, she didn’t really give Richard a chance to explain his side of things on Thursday—and it sounds like she won’t provide him that opportunity anytime soon. “She’s too upset. She doesn’t trust him,” Kelly McCreary says, pointing out that Maggie still doesn’t know that Meredith has confirmed the truth that she’s her sister, which just adds fuel to the fire against staying in Seattle as her world comes crashing down. “There aren’t a lot of reasons for her to want to stay at this point,” she says. “There are a lot of reasons for her to go home.”

After her less-than-great first impression of Meredith, it's pretty clear that Maggie isn't jumping at the chance to incorporate more new relatives into her life. So don't look for Richard to spill the beans any time soon. But they will remain confidantes. "She and Richard will find that they have something in common early on in the next episode," Kelly McCreary hints. "It's a fun little moment. The audience will definitely pick up on some family resemblances."

If you thought that Maggie's first day on the job with her newly-discovered half-sister Meredith could not have gone any worse, you're not alone. "I think if Maggie was day dreaming about it on the flight over, I think she was imagining hugs and embraces and tears and questions about where each other has been their whole lives," Kelly McCreary tells us. "She was hoping for something much more warm and fuzzy than what happened. She's majorly disappointed." In fact, don't expect these sisters-from-another-mister to start slamming back tequila shots with each other anytime soon, because it's going to be a while until they can be in the same room without screaming at each other…and that's a major problem, since they have to work together on a case this week! Yikes.

Question: Jo and Alex are so happy right now, but that never seems to last long on Grey’s Anatomy! Anything coming up for them? —Sarah
Ausiello: As we all surmised, Meredith’s tendency to lean on the last fellow “original,” Alex, in the wake of her “person” Cristina’s exit, will raise Jo’s pretty little eyebrows. As Camilla Luddington explained to Matt Mitovich, “Jo’s never actually witnessed the depth of that relationship before, how with that gang there really were no boundaries, so she sees that and is taken aback. She’s jealous and she doesn’t know what to do.” In fact as the season unfolds, on a scale of 1 to 10, Luddington puts the state of the JoLex union at — eep! — just “a 5 or a 6.”

Question: Will Meredith know Maggie is her sister by the end of the Grey’s Anatomy season premiere? —Nikki
Ausiello: Sounds like the answer to that is nope. “The revelation of who Maggie is to Meredith won’t happen until she feels comfortable in the hospital,” reveals Kelly McCreary (AKA Maggie). “She came for the job. The family thing is sort of a side bar. She’s got her work cut out for her at [Grey Sloan]. So it’ll take as long as it takes for her to settle in.”
