Ausiello: “Never say never, but… not in the immediate run of episodes,” Adam Horowitz told us when we delivered your question. Co-creator Eddy Kitsis added, “We love Sean and we love that character — and Robin Hood is obviously still out there,” presumably engaged to Regina’s other half. So while Season 7 features “Evil Queen Prime” (as some dub the original), “that is not to say that Sean may not pop up at some point.”

Question: Is there any scoop you can share about Once Upon a Time‘s new Alice? —Rebecca
Ausiello: Fresh from screening the Season 7 premiere, Matt Mitovich reports that although English actress Rose Reynolds (Poldark) is the lesser known of the several new additions, she definitely “pops” and gives Alice a fun, mischievous streak. Just do not pigeonhole this Alice as being “from Wonderland”! (She gets testy.)

Now! The OUAT producers are keeping very mum on exactly how Robin Hood is returning to the show. “It’s definitely not just him in flashbacks, we can guarantee that,” EP Edward Kitsis says. EP Adam Horowitz concurs: “It’s multiple episodes, it’s not just in flashback, but it’s not necessarily what you’d expect,” he says. “How he integrates into the story, we want to keep a surprise and unexpected. It’s an important part of the main story once it happens.”

We know the trio will be traveling to Nazi Germany in episode 4 and encountering James Bond author Ian Fleming (Sean Maguire), but the hour won’t only be referencing 007 films. EP Shawn Ryan says they also drew inspiration from Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, specifically that scene with Brad Pitt stumbling over his rudimentary Italian. Lucy, despite knowing practically every historical detail, will face a similar obstacle. “She doesn’t speak German,” Ryan says. “Just because Lucy is a great historian doesn’t mean it’s easy to walk with Ian Fleming into this Nazi party… There are definitely some traces of Inglourious Basterds in this episode, and there may be an homage or two to it, without a doubt.”

As promised in Ask Ausiello, I did ask Maguire about this at the 100th-episode party, and he was (alas) expectedly spoiler-free on his status — though he did acknowledge that dangerous times are ahead for Robin and the other heroes. “We’re going to the Underworld, so I don’t expect much good stuff is going to happen! But as to where it’s going to lead [for Robin], I can’t say,” he hedged. “There are obstacles everywhere — a lot of bad people from the past are coming back and they are not too happy with our heroes. If Once Upon a Time was the Star Wars franchise, this would be Empire Strikes Back. It’s going to get dark, it’s going to be scary, and there will be surprises.”

Is Operation Light Swan still on when Once Upon a Time returns? –Allison
No, it appears Operation Light Swan has served its purpose, to be replaced by a new mission Henry dubs “Operation Firebird.”

As previously hinted (and despite how Season 4A ended), Sean Maguire will be back in some capacity this spring as Regina’s soul mate. “And for the uber-observant fans,” series cocreator Adam Horowitz hints, “we’re going to shed some light on just why he might have looked different and not had a tattoo in Season 2″ — that is, back when the role was was originally played by Tom Ellis. (Do I smell a Dr. Kelly Nieman crossover?)

Funny you should bring that up because when we chatted with OUAT co-creator Eddy Kitsis, we asked him that very question. Gird your loins, magic lovers, because hell hath no fury like an evil queen scorned! "We have built 66 episodes of growth for Regina and this is a very big setback," Kitsis revealed. "The question we want the audience to think about is, 'How does she handle it?' It is a very uncomfortable situation for everyone involved, it's very complicated. She's done a lot of growing and yet we know what her weaknesses are." Translation: Emma you had better run, girl!
