Here's some scoop on Stranger Things from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 10/26/17.

Stranger Things 2 is almost here. What more can you tease before it drops? — Hill
As everyone knows, Stranger Things is built on nostalgia, and this season continues that approach. But the sequel won’t be influenced solely by ’80s culture; in fact, if you watch carefully, you’ll find shades of the ’70s (namely, The Exorcist), the ’90s (Jurassic Park, mostly), and even this decade (think The Cabin in the Woods) in some key scenes’ storytelling DNA. That’s all I can say for now — just be sure to channel your inner Demogorgon and hunt those down when the season drops on Netflix.

Stranger Things: Scoop on upcoming ’80s pop culture references on the show and more on season 2 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Stranger Things from this week's (Posted on 6/16/17) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any scoop on what ’80s pop culture staples Stranger Things will be paying homage to in Season 2? —Ben
Ausiello: The Duffer Brothers plan to capitalize on Season 2 being set in Fall 1984. “The summer of ’84 was a great summer for movies,” EP Matt Duffer notes. “There was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Ghostbusters and Gremlins and The Karate Kid. The kids would have all seen those movies. They probably saw them multiple times, in fact, so they’re able to reference them.” And as confirmed by early Season 2 photos, the Scooby gang actually dress up as Ghostbusters for Halloween. BONUS SCOOP: look for the original Terminator pic to make a cameo. Reveals fellow EP Ross Duffer: “It’s playing at the local movie theater because [it came out] in October ’84.”

Question: How government conspiracy-heavy will Season 2 of Stranger Things be? —Nick
Ausiello: I don’t have a percentage for you, but EP Ross Duffer confirms that Season 2 will devote “more” time to that piece of the story. “We wanted to explore the idea of how they could keep something like this covered up, and what happens if you’re not able to keep a lid on this,” he teases. “That was something that was interesting to us and that we wanted to explore.”

Stranger Things: Scoop on Sean Astin’s role in season 2 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Stranger Things from this week's (Posted on 6/8/17) Matt's Inside Line column.

Thanks for the Stranger Things Season 2 intel this week. Do you have anything on Sean Astin’s character? —Jeremy
The Goonies vet will play a former high school chum of Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Sheriff Hopper’s (David Harbour) who now works as the manager of the local RadioShack. Series co-creator Ross Duffer says the role will show off “a different side” of the actor, before raving that Astin “killed it. He made the part so interesting. He made us write such a better character.” And don’t just take his word for it. Adds the EP: “The few people who have seen [Season 2] are just raving about him.”

Here's some scoop on Stranger Things from this week's (Posted on 8/31/16) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Stranger Things without Eleven?! Say it ain’t so! —Andrew
Ausiello: It ain’t so. Mark my words: The pint-sized, chrome-domed, Eggo-addicted super-heroine will be back in some form.
