Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 12/5/14.

Do you have anything on the final episodes of Newsroom? — Alyssa
There will be a time jump in Sunday’s episode—sadly, Will’s been in jail a lot longer than expected. In fact, not budging on this issue may turn out to be one of his biggest regrets after he misses out on a big moment back at ACN.

The Newsroom: Scoop on episode 3x05 "Oh Shenandoah" from TVGuide's Adam Bryant

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from TVGuide's Adam Bryant's Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 12/2/14.

The Newsroom has been great this season. Any spoilers? — Rob
Sunday's episode features yet another major shift in the Ballad of Jim and Maggie when the pair are sent overseas to cover the Edward Snowden case. But the real drama is happening back home, where ACN is being overhauled by its new corporate owner while Will sits in prison. Although a few staffers ultimately stick it to their new overlords, there will be serious (and surprisingly, life-threatening) consequences to those actions.

The Newsroom: Will related scoop and more on episode 3x03 "Main Justice" from TVGuide's Adam Bryant

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from TVGuide's Adam Bryant's Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 11/18/14.

I'm really loving The Newsroom this season. What can you tell me about next week's episode? — Amie
Although many of the "News Night" staffers react poorly to having the newsroom raided by the FBI, Will keeps his cool. In fact, we eventually learn that Will's nonchalance has everything to do with his own involvement in protecting Neal from the federal probe. Unfortunately for Will, he's severelyunderestimated the lengths the government is willing to go to in order to find this whistleblower. Elsewhere, Charlie hatches a scheme to help Leona save AWM from being sold — but the price of doing business may not be one Charlie is willing to pay.

The Newsroom: Scoop on the future of Will and Mac's relationship in season 3 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 11/5/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Do you have any scoop on The Newsroom? Anything would be good. —Erica
Ausiello: Will and Mac’s wedding seemed like a sure thing at the end of Season 2, didn’t it? But star Jeff Daniels plays very coy when TVLine asks him whether the audience will actually get to watch the newshounds say their vows in the show’s upcoming final run of episodes. “I do know there was a ring. We ended Season 2 with a ring, and we’re talking about bridesmaids in the first episode of Season 3, so… perhaps,” he says. “I know Will and Mac want to. There are some obstacles thrown up in our way. Whether we overcome them or not in the second half [of the season] is to be seen.

The Newsroom: Maggie and Jim related scoop on the season 3 premiere (Episode 3x01 "Boston") from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 10/29/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Can I get anything about Jim and Maggie of The Newsroom? A good scoop, maybe? It’s the last season, and they have to be together. Thank you. —Maria
Ausiello: Remember how Maggie was such a hot mess last season, you could practically warm your hands over her? That’s not quite the case at the beginning of Season 3, and there are several moments in the premiere where Jim notices. That said, Hallie is now a fixture in the ACN newsroom, so…

The Newsroom: Maggie and Neal related scoop on the season 3 premiere (Episode 3x01 "Boston") from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 10/24/14.

Do you have anything on the final season of The Newsroom? — Tina
It kicks off with a look at the Boston Marathon bombing. Though tragic, the incident provides Maggie a chance to step up in a very surprising way. However, it’s Neal who will steal the show in the premiere as he finds himself wrapped up in a conspiracy that could land him and the whole ACN team in a heap of trouble. Oh, and someone quits by episode’s end.

The Newsroom: Reese related spoiler on season 3 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

The Newsroom Season 3

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 6/18/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I want to know more about this new-and-improved Reese on the last season of The Newsroom. They’re not going to make him nice, are they? — Jonathan
Ausiello: I wouldn’t worry about that, exactly, based on what Chris Messina recently told TVLine. “I must come off as a dick right off the bat, and people warm up to me,” he joked, noting that many roles he’s played throughout his career “have started off as either hated or just not liked, and then you warm up to them or realize there’s another side, which is fun to play.” In the HBO drama’s yet-to-be-scheduled final season, “That happens with Reese,” he shared, but stopped short of saying that Leona Lansing’s son was going to turn into best buds with any of the News Night staff. “You see another side of him.”

The Newsroom: Reese related scoop on season 3 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 6/10/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Is there any chance that Chris Messina will have a bigger part this season on The Newsroom? Thanks! – Ali
Ausiello: Bigger? Unclear. Better, in the cosmic sense? Likely. Messina says that the usually prickly Reese “has a whole lot of change and a major difference in his philosophy” in the HBO drama’s final installments. “People will be excited about the last season and bummed that it’s ending, because I think it’ll be a really good one.”

The Newsroom: Relationship related casting scoop on season 3 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 5/7/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any scoop on the third and final season of The Newsroom? Will Maggie and Jim end up together, and will the Sloan-Don relationship have legs? –Laura
Ausiello: I’ve got some scoop that could affect both of those relationships, as well as the ribald work atmosphere at Atlantis Cable News. The show is casting Wyatt, ACN’s head of human resources (AKA someone in charge of dealing with interoffice relationships), and Alex, a female 20-something ACN staffer who files a complaint against two of the network’s producers. Now, a question for you to ponder: Might this be a chance for Sloan to finally stop getting called “girl” by Charlie and a way for series creator Aaron Sorkin to officially address claims that women on his HBO series are treated as inferior to their male counterparts?

The Newsroom: Casting related scoop on season 3 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 4/23/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I’m desperate for any scoop on The Newsroom. Is there anything you can tell us? –Anna
Ausiello: The HBO drama is casting an affable, thirtysomething law professor named Jack, who gets into an ethics discussion with one of the News Night producers on a train. The role could become recurring – perhaps this is a new guy for poor Maggie? One thing we know is pretty likely: Series creator Aaron Sorkin is already sorry for how Jack’s whole arc turns out.

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 9/12/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

Anything on this weekend’s Newsroom finale? Something on Will/Mac or even just confirmation of more sass from Sloan? –Steph
Our Kim Roots can confirm two things: There’s tons of sass from the alluring Ms. Sabbith, who gets to the bottom of her book mystery in a very satisfying way, and several huge moments between Will and Mac — at least one of which includes mention of the Tiffany’s ring Will bought last season.

The Newsroom: Scoop on episode 2x07 "Red Team III" from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 8/22/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

TVLine becomes my “go to” more and more, so thanks for being here. I am trying to figure out who was fired on The Newsroom, prompting the “wrongful termination” suit that is now happening on the show. Can you help? –Fanne
A few episodes back, we learned that Jim’s replacement Jerry Dantana was bringing the suit against ACN, but in this Sunday’s ep, we get much more detail on what led to the DC-based producer getting the boot. “Institutional failure” is a phrase tossed around quite often, and most of the characters spend some time parrying with Marcia Gay Harden’s Rebecca Halliday during the hour. In flashbacks, we find out how the Operation Genoa story (which, as we all have known since the star of the season, isn’t true) falls apart on a grand scale… and by the end of the episode, three characters offer their resignations to boss lady Leona.

When I first looked up details of this season of The Newsroom, I heard that there would be 12 episodes. But now I saw an article that said there would be only nine! What’s the real amount? –Ross
Sorry, I must say nein to that 12 rumor and confirm it is just nine, with the finale set for Sept. 15.

The Newsroom: Scoop on Neal's Occupy Wall Street from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from this week's (Posted on 7/23/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: On The Newsroom, will we be seeing any follow-up to the site hacking/death-threats-against-Will storyline from last season?  My guess is the loss of the board from last week is connected to it, but there’s a distinct lack of Terry Crews… so will we learn why? —Tom Charles
Ausiello: Possibly, but not in the next two episodes. The question you should be asking, though, is: Why should I care about Neal’s silly Occupy Wall Street storyline? And the answer to that one is: It ties in (in a surprising way) to this season’s overarching “Operation Genoa” storyline.

The Newsroom: Will and Maggie related scoop and more on season 2 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on The Newsroom from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 7/11/13.

Do you have any scoop on what The Newsroom will bring us when it returns? —Erica
We now go to TVLine’s Kim Roots, live on the screener-watching scene! “The Tea Party hasn’t forgotten about the ‘American Taliban’ comment Will made in last season’s finale, and ACN takes a few major hits because of it,” Roots reports. “But that’s nothing compared to the huge trouble the network – and News Night, in particular – are in as the season opens. Elsewhere: Maggie’s got a terrible new haircut (with an even more terrible story behind it), a NewsNight staffer gets arrested, Marcia Gay Harden is a lot of fun as a sharp-dressed attorney, Jim spends a lot of time on a bus with Grace Gummer (Smash) and we finally find out exactly what Will said in the rest of his stoned voicemail to Mackenzie.” Thanks, Kim!
