According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Stephanie March will be guest-starring in an upcoming episode of Happy Endings as Alex and Jane's older sister, who's tentatively named Brooke. Here's an excerpt from the article:
I’m told March’s arrival will shift the Kerkovich family dynamics in a major way, mostly because Brooke can out-Jane Jane.
The gig marks a rare small-screen comedy detour for March, who is mostly known for her dramatic roles. (As several TVLine readers pointed out below, she appeared in the first season of 30 Rock as a “love interest” for Liz.)
Happy Endings, which is currently on an unplanned hiatus, relocates to Fridays beginning March 29.
March’s episode will likely air in late April/early May.

My thoughts: I've never even heard of Stephanie March, so I can't comment on March's acting, but I find this news very surprising, mainly because unless I somehow missed it, I don't remember Alex and Jane ever mentioning that they had another sister before. As much as I love Happy Endings, I have to say that the idea of introducing another sibling of Alex and Jane's at this point in the series seems like a pretty stupid move on the writers' part since I'm almost certain they've never mentioned them having another sister prior to this news.
I just feel like the writers must be doing this because they were possibly having trouble coming up with any other good ideas for the show as they were planning the end of season three. Season three has been amazing so far and I truly believe that Happy Endings is one of the most underrated shows on TV right now, but I'm just not too crazy about this idea. I'll try to keep an open mind about Stephenie March's appearance on Happy Endings until after I actually see the episode, but if the writers really wanted Alex and Jane to have an older sister that we've never seen before, I just think they should have established that fact on the show a long time ago.
