According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, season 2 of Looking will consist of 10 episodes, up from the show's first season episode order, which had 8 episodes. Here's an excerpt from the article:
Despite tepid ratings, HBO renewed Looking for a second season back in February. At the same time, the show promoted three fan favorites — Lauren Weedman (Dom’s hilariously acid-tongued BFF Doris), Raúl Castillo (Patrick’s BF Richie) and Russell Tovey (Patrick’s boss Kevin) — to series regular.
Season 2 is slated to premiere in early 2015.

My thoughts: For the record, I don't have HBO, so I haven't had a chance to watch Looking yet, but I'm definitely planning to buy the DVD set of the first season when it comes out so I can watch it. That being said, I'm really glad that HBO has ordered ten episodes for the show's second season rather than just ordering eight episodes again like they did for the first season. Personally, I don't think eight episodes is enough episodes for any TV show to deliver a great season without having the storylines seem too rushed. I think it would have been great if HBO had ordered twelve or thirteen episodes for the second season of Looking, but it looks like ten episodes has become the typical number of episodes that HBO orders for each season of their shows, such as True Blood and Girls these days. Since that's what HBO has been doing with True Blood and Girls, it makes sense that they would order the same number of episodes for the second season of Looking.
