Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Scoop on the possibility of Ward returning in season 5 from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams
Here's some scoop on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 6/9/17.
Tell me we haven’t seen the last of Ward on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He was my favorite thing about season 4. — Spencer
EP Jed Whedon says they considered bringing others besides Aida back, but due to a litany of reasons — “scheduling, or personal issues, or other shows that take our people away,” Whedon says — it just didn’t work out. Plus: Anyone who came back in that way probably wouldn’t have been long for this world. “Aida rebuilt her body out of dark stuff from a dark, terrible universe, so she wasn’t exactly human,” EP Jeff Bell explains. “There was a Darkhold filter through which she came, so it seemed that anyone who came back that way was not, in fact, really themselves, but some corrupted version of themselves.”

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Ward related scoop on the second half of season 2 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello
Here's some scoop on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from this week's (Posted on 1/27/15) Ask Ausiello column.
Question: I feel I know almost nothing about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for when it comes back in March. Got any scoop (that’s not cryptic)? –Andy B.
Ausiello: Dude. It’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Cryptic is what they do. That said, Brett Dalton perhaps only rated 7 on a scale of 10 when teasing for us Ward’s next move, having taken his licks (and a few bullets) in service of HYDRA and Whitehall. “He’s hitched his cart to a horse before — HYDRA— and it hasn’t really turned out so well,” the actor notes. “So, now he’s like, unhitching the cart and hopping on his own horse and going his own way.” And maybe just maybe, some day, that could lead him kinda sorta back into S.H.I.E.L.D.’s good-ish graces…? “I mean, he has a sense of right and wrong, he has a sense of duty and obligation, and I think he’s also a sympathetic character,” Dalton contends. “Though he can be heartless, it’s always in the service of something, an intention that is good. So I do feel good about his future. The writers could have given Ward a quick redemption arc, and that would have been the end of it, but they’ve left him raw, unpredictable… a complete wild card.”

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Scoop on the future of the relationship between Skye and Ward in the second half of season 2 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich
Here's some scoop on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from this week's (Posted on 1/15/15) Matt's Inside Line column.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans needs some SkyeWard hope after a certain shot(s) heard round the world in the winter finale. Got anything on their future? –Brooke
It would seem that any last shred of affection ‘tween the two took its hits as well. As Brett Dalton tells me, “Ward had a hell of a time in the cage by himself for six months, he had some suicidal tendencies, and once he comes to the end of wrestling with all of his demons, he makes a promise – to reunite Skye with her dad. And that went on for 10 episodes. But her shooting me three times kind of answers the question of, ‘Are you into this? Is this gonna work?’ It was a big statement for her to make. Things can never be the same.” That said, Dalton hinted at a “new chapter” ahead for his character.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Ward related scoop on season 2 from TVGuide's Natalie Abrams
Here's some scoop on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from TVGuide's Natalie Abrams' Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 7/29/14.
Anything on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., specifically how Ward might factor into the first couple of episodes? —Mary, via Twitter
Don't worry, Ward will still play a big role in Season 2 — as will Hydra. "He spent his whole life being a follower and being told what to do," executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen tells me. "Now he's in our custody and alone, so what does that mean for him? Season 2 is Ward continuing to discover what he wants."

Here's some scoop on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from this week's (Posted on 7/18/14) Matt's Inside Line column.
Can you give us a hint on how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Ward will find himself working alongside the people he betrayed? –Rachel
“Alongside” is perhaps an optimistic way of viewing things! As exec producer Maurissa Tancharoen reminds, “He did very bad things” toward the close of Season 1. That said, “He’s in our custody now, and he’s a great villain to have around.” And he WILL be around. “Ward is definitely in the mix” as Season 2 opens, says EP Jed Whedon. “Brett [Dalton] has done a great job, and we love who Ward has become.”

Do you have anything juicy on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s season finale? –Andy
That absolutely depends on how you define “juicy.” Bill Paxton told us that in addition to getting insight into Garrett’s “weird, fatherly relationship” with Ward, he will “of course” resurface in the May 13 season finale.

Shannon: I'm super excited that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to deal with what happened in Thor 2! What can you tell me about that episode? We're glad you asked, because we just got the scoop from Chloe Bennet herself: "It is the aftermath of Thor, and we kind of go to clean up the mess that these great-looking gods so easily came down to make, and we find an Asgardian relic, and that relic, when you touch it, it makes you have this internal and external rage, and it emotionally and physically kind of, for lack of a better word, effs you up. … It's a big episode for Ward. I can't wait for people to learn more about his backstory. And ladies can expect to see Brett Donovan with no shirt on, so if you didn't have a reason to watch it, you now do."
