Parenthood: Scoop on Sarah's love life from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos
Here's some scoop on Parenthood from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 10/11/13.

Josh: Please tell me Parenthood won't force Sarah and Hank together. I'm not a fan.
Even though Ray Romano will be around a lot this season, there will be someone new in Sarah's life who will catch her eye, if you know what we mean. And we think you do. You do, right? We mean she'll like him. And he lives in close proximity to her, so chances are high those two crazy kids will be seeing a lot of each other for some good old-fashioned flirting. Hank who?

Reneebrown84: Parenthood please????
Depending on your personal preference, this news should either make you go yay or nay: Though Ray Romano's Hank is back in town, he doesn't share any screen time with Sarah in tonight's premiere. In fact, she doesn't even know he's returned. But you can expect to see her bro Adam share a tense moment or two with Hank after he learns Max has been hanging out at his studio. Protective older brother FTW! (Also: Come back to us Mark Cyr!)

Parenthood: Matt Lauria Returning as Ryan in Season 5-TVLine
According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Matt Lauria has signed a deal to reprise the role of Ryan in Parenthood's fifth season. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Lauria's return:
Lauria’s specific episode count is not known, but word is the Friday Night Lights alum is currently on board for roughly half of Season 5′s 22 episodes.
Last month at the ATX Festival, Lauria expressed optimism that he’d be back as Ryan, telling TVLine’s Meg Masters, “We don’t know what the details are going to be, but [exec producer] Jason [Katims] recently asked me, ‘Are you up for it?’ and I told him, ‘I’m up for it!’ And since then, there have been some conversations.”
For his part, Katims told fans at PaleyFest earlier this year, “I absolutely loved the dynamic between [Amber and Ryan] and I would love to continue that storyline.”

My thoughts: I'm definitely excited that Matt Lauria will be returning for season 5 of Parenthood, and I'm especially excited about the fact that it sounds like he will be appearing in a large chunk of the fifth season. I really like Ryan, and I think he has a very interesting backstory that I think a lot of people can identify with. That being said, I'd like to make a bit of a side-note and mention that I'm really glad that they are also bringing Ray Ramano back next season.
Hank is perhaps my favorite out of all the love interests that Sarah has had throughout the show's run at this point, and I'm honestly starting to get a little tired of watching the revolving door of love interests for Sarah, which have unfortunately always been a big part of her storylines on the show. Don't get me wrong, I really like Jason Ritter and I did like the character Mark, but he always came across as someone who was better suited to not really be anything more than a guy that Sarah could simply have a casual fling with rather than be someone that she has a serious relationship with. I just always felt like the age difference between Sarah and Mark caused a lot of problems in their relationship, especially when it came to Amber and Drew. That being said, I really am excited for Parenthood's fifth season to start.

Parenthood: Scoop on Ray Romano's future on the show from TVLine's Michael Ausiello
Here's some scoop on Parenthood from this week's (Posted on 1/3/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: How about some Parenthood spoilers? I promise I will find you and protect you in the event of a zombie apocalypse. I’ve been watching Walking Dead, so I know how to kill them. —Shannon
Ausiello: How about the anti-”Dair” brigade — promise to protect me from them, too? One could argue that they’re more lethal than zombies (and only slightly better looking). Deal? Cool. Should NBC’s weekly tearjerker be back for a fifth season — and come on, it will be — exec producer Jason Katims wants Ray Romano to be a part of it. “I would love for him to be around,” he tells us. “He is fantastic and his character is fantastic, so I would love that. It’s too early to know, because so many things have to happen: [NBC] has to say they want [a fifth season], plus Ray is not a series regular on the show so we don’t know what his availability and interest are going to be.” Katims’ top priority is to “figure out what the best story is and then from there figure out whether the actors are going to be available.”

Parenthood: Sarah, Mark, Hank, Amber and Ryan related scoop from TVLine's Michael Ausiello
Here's some scoop on Parenthood from this week's (Posted on 10/16/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I’m loving Ray Romano’s character Hank on Parenthood. It feels like they finally found a great match for Sarah. Any news on what will happen in the wake of their kiss? —Caia
Ausiello: In the short term, their smooch may be good news for Mark of all people. “I think it made her resolve a little stronger to try to keep her life on the track that she planned and hoped for, and finally looked like she was about to achieve,” muses Lauren Graham. And in the long-term? “We still don’t know what’s going to happen — nor does [series creator Jason Katims],” she maintains. “[He] kind of adjusts as things go along and picks up on the threads that are interesting to him, more than they maybe do on most shows…. So the line I’m trying to play is confusion, and it’s justifiably confusing what’s happening.”
Question: I love this season of Parenthood! It seemed like in the last episode Matt Lauria’s character Ryan had a special connection with Amber. Are we going to see more of that?!—Christine
Ausiello: Oh, yes. That special connection is about to morph into a full-blown romance. Lauria, meanwhile, tells us he’s on board for at least 10 episodes — an arc it sounds like he’d be happy to see extended ever further. “They gave me this amazing gift of playing this part that’s taken me to new depths as an artist and has made me a much more compassionate human being,” the Friday Night Lights vet raves. “I’m on board.”

Question: I love, love, love Ray Romano on Parenthood and have been scouring the Internet looking for scoop on when his “multi-episode arc” will wrap up. Can I expect to see him through most of this season? —Amanda
Ausiello: Hank will be around for most of the season, much to the dismay of poor Mark. And even though Sarah’s personal and professional partners have yet to come face to face, Jason Ritter says the situation nonetheless remains very awkward. “We’re trying to suss each other out,” he explains. “He can’t quite figure out why she’s with me, and I can’t quite figure out what their thing is.” Despite the Hank complication, Sarah and Mark are about to take a big step forward. “There’s talk of moving in together,” previews Ritter, “and what that means for her son, Drew. Living with your teacher is probably not the coolest thing for a kid who’s already self-conscious at school about his mom dating a teacher. So Mark tries to win over Drew over, who’s a little standoffish. But I’m working on him. I’ll crack him.”

Parenthood: Sarah related scoop on season 4 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello
Here's some scoop on Parenthood from this week's (Posted on 7/24/12) Ask Ausiello column.
Question: Please tell me Ray Romano isn’t going to come between my favorite Parenthood couple, Sarah and Mark. —Amber
Ausiello: Well, he’s definitely going to cause a little friction. “Ray’s character is the opposite of Mark,” reveals exec producer Jason Katims. “Hank is acerbic and has a cynical attitude about life, and he develops a connection with Sarah. In a weird way, he’s kind of more right for her than somebody like Mark. He’s in a more similar stage of life as she is, so we wanted to watch as that dynamic develops — and not in a way that’s very soapy. We wanted to make it feel as real as possible. As she’s moving forward with Mark, an unanticipated connection begins to form with Hank.” Bonus scoop: Sarah and Hank meet when she gets a job working at his small commercial photography studio.

Jason Ritter on the Emmys and Season 4 of Parenthood-TVLine
Here's an interview that Jason Ritter did with TVLine's Megan Masters. In the interview, Ritter talks about how his reaction to receiving a best Guest Actor in a Drama Series nomination for his work on Parenthood. Ritter also talks about Sarah and Mark's relationship in season 4 and how the arrival of Ray Romano's character will affect their relationship. Here's an excerpt from the article where Jason Ritter talks about his reaction to finding out about his Emmy nomination:
TVLINE | Congratulations! Take us through your nominations morning.
There have been times where I’ve opted not to wake up and check [the nominations], but I’ve always known when it was on. And for some reason this year it just totally slipped my mind. So, I went from, “Who is calling me at six in the morning? That is unacceptable!” to “Oh my gosh, someone’s texting me again and again — something horrible has happened!’ to this total surprise. I still can’t quite believe it.
TVLINE | Parenthood is a show full of great actors — including yourself — and you were singled out. That has to feel unbelievable.
That does feel crazy, because I feel like a visitor to the awesome planet that is Parenthood. [Laughs] Even from the very first second I started working on that show a couple of years ago, it just felt so wonderful. There are so many incredible actors on that show — all the way from the very young kids to Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson. I’ve always felt like I’m trying to keep up and not draw attention to myself as the guy who should clearly not be on the show with all those people.
TVLINE | Did you hear from your Parenthood family?
Yeah, I heard from [series creator] Jason Katims, and cast-wise I heard from Lauren [Graham] and Mae [Whitman] and Sarah [Ramos], Peter [Krause]… It’s such a supportive group of people. There’s no ego; everyone is just so happy for me and for the show. I love all those people quite a lot, so it’s nice.

My thoughts: I'm so happy that Jason Ritter received an Emmy nomination for his work on Parenthood. Parenthood is such a wonderful show, and I hate that the show has constantly been overlooked by so many people. While I wish the show had received a best drama nomination and that maybe some of the series regulars could have received Emmy nominations, I'm just glad that the show is finally being recognized for something.

Parenthood: Ray Romano Joins Season 4-TVLine
According to TVLine's Megan Master's, Ray Romano will be joining the cast of Parenthood in a recurring guest-star role who will be involved with Sarah's storyline for season 4. Here's an excerpt from the original article, which gives some details on Romano's role:
The Men of a Certain Age alum has booked a multi-episode arc in Parenthood‘s upcoming fourth season, playing a photographer who takes an interest in Lauren Graham’s perpetually conflicted leading lady.
As TVLine previously reported, Jason Ritter is set to return to the NBC drama as Sarah’s maybe-fiancé, so expect the latter’s friendship with Romano’s photog to complicate things.
Romano makes his Parenthood debut in the Season 4 premiere, which bows Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 10/9c.

My thoughts: I have to say that I'm pretty excited about this casting news. I've been a big fan of Ray Romano ever since he was on Everybody Loves Raymond, and I thought he was great Men of a Certain Age. As much as I like Mark and I enjoy watching the interractions between Sarah and Mark, I'd like to see Sarah date men who are closer to her in age, especially since Amber and Drew have had their fair share of issues with her dating a younger guy, plus he's a teacher at the high school that Amber went to when she was in high school and Drew goes to that high school now too.
One thing that I'd like to see the writers focus on more is Sarah getting her life together and less on her extremely complicated love life. After all, Sarah and her kids moved in with Zeek and Camille because she felt she needed to get her kids away from her ex-husband, Seth, due to the fact that he had problems with addiction and she was broke, but instead the writers have focused mainly on Sarah's very complicated love life. I loved the whole storyline with Sarah writing and producing a play in season 2. I really wish the writers had continued the idea of Sarah becoming a successful playwright. Although since Megan Masters made point of mentioning Romano's character being of photographer. Maybe the writers are planning on having Sarah pursue a career in photography in season 4. If that's the case, that could be a very interesting storyline.

TVLine Items: NCIS Brings Out Its Dead, Shawn Ryan's ABC Pilot, Lucci Not Desperate, and More - TVLine
The 200th episode of NCIS, set to air in early 2012, will feature the return of some familiar (if, gulp, dead) faces.
The new season of NCIS premieres Sept. 20 at 8/7c on CBS.
Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…
• ABC is (yet again) denying reports that Susan Lucci is moving to Wisteria Lane. Although the New York Post claims Lucci met with Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, a network rep told E! Online there’s “no truth” to the story. Speaking of La Lucci, check out TV Guide Magazine‘s first look at her and returning guest star Carol Burnett on All My Children.
• Shaun Majumder (Detroit 1-8-7) has joined NBC’s The Firm in the role of Andrew Palmer. The news comes on the heels of Tricia Helfer landing a recurring role as a senior partner on the midseason series.
• Not one to let grass grow under his feet — and maybe sensing that Celebrity Apprentice‘s death knell is near — Donald Trump reportedly has two new shows in works. Per the New York Post, the mogul has teamed up with Bret Michaels for Something To Believe In, a new reality show in which the rocker would travel the country to help people face adversity. Additionally, Trump is developing a fictional drama based on the wealthy and eccentric sorts of New Yorkers who reside in Trump Tower, reports the Post.
• The Shield creator Shawn Ryan and feature writer Karl Gajdusek (Unknown) have landed an in-demand pilot at ABC. Titled Last Resort and set in the near future, it centers on a U.S. military submarine that disregards an order to fire its nuclear missiles, and as a result its crew is hunted, forcing them to flee to a NATO outpost and set up a society as “the world’s smallest nuclear nation,” Deadline reports.
• Game of Thrones cannot be contained. The HBO series has expanded production into Croatia (providing the setting for where Daenerys’ attempts to create an army) and Iceland (to be used as the backdrop for “beyond the wall” scenes with Jon Snow), EW.com reports.
