Of all the exciting things coming up on Arrow, nothing makes me more pumped than the upcoming guest spot from Fringe alum Seth Gabel, who will play an adapted version of supervillain Count Vertigo.

In the episode, airing later this month, Gabel plays a street thug who is spreading a drug called Vertigo all over the streets of Starling City. Naturally, Oliver (Stephen Amell) won’t let him get away with that for long. “[The character] really wants to be one of the most powerful people in Starling City, so to have the opportunity to take on the Arrow and prove himself to himself and the rest of the city is everything he wanted and more,” Gabel says.

But as Gabel prepares for his debut in the Arrow-verse, some are wondering if the actor, who also stars in Allegiance (out on DVD Jan. 15), will make one final visit to the land of Fringe before the show finishes its run Jan. 18. So I had to ask: Is a return in the cards? “I’m not able to say anything either way about it,” he says. “I’m sworn to secrecy on either front.”

With only a few episodes left, I’m going to tread lightly and say that “The Boy Must Live” (airing Jan. 11) is entirely packed with info on The Plan, features a touching Walter-September moment where they chat about the white tulip (sobs forever), and ends with a great scream-at-your-TV moment that will ensure your attendance to the series finale.

Arrow: James Callis to Guest-Star in an Upcoming Episode

According to TVGuide's Natalie Abrams, James Callis of Battlestar Galactica fame will be guest-starring in an upcoming episode of Arrow as The Dodger. The episode is scheduled to air sometime next year. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some more details on Callis' role:

Callis will play The Dodger, an elusive international jewel thief who imposes his plans on the innocent, forcing them to carry out his crimes under duress. When the Sherwood Ruby goes missing in Starling City, the ensuing investigation leads Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Diggle (David Ramsey) straight to The Dodger, but apprehending him won't be as easy as they may have thought.

No word yet if Callis' Dodger is the same villain-turned-Arrow ally as in the DC Comics.

My thoughts: I've only watched the first episode of Arrow at this point, but I have a season pass for the show on iTunes, so I'm planning on doing a marathon of all the episodes that have aired so far in the next few days. I instantly got hooked on Arrow just by watching the first episode alone. The first episode was very well written and very well done as a whole. The show has a great cast of series regulars, and the people in charge of casting for the show have done great job of casting the guest-star roles so far as well.

I'm already really excited about the fact that Seth Gabel will be guest-starring in upcoming episodes of Vertigo, and James Callis was always one of my favorite actors on Battlestar Galactica, so I couldn't be any more excited about James Callis guest-starring on the show if I tried to be. I've never read any of the comic books that have featured the Green Arrow, but I still think this is a fantastic show, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched the show yet. In case any fans of the show Revenge happen to read this post, I would definitely recommend that they check it out since one of the elements of the show is Oliver Queen setting out to get revenge on people who have wronged his family due to a promise that he made to his father as he was dying.

Here's some scoop on Arrow from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 12/6/12.

Arrow | While working the red carpet at Fringe‘s 100th Episode party, I had the chance to ask Lincoln Lee Seth Gabel about his upcoming run of villainy on Arrow. As the CW hit’s incarnation of the DC baddie Vertigo, he’s playing The Count, a “street thug drug kingpin” whose No. 1 product is dubbed Vertigo. If taken orally, the drug makes the user feel as if “walking on air,” Gabel shared. But if injected… that’s when bad things happen – drawing the interest of one hooded vigilante. “It’s the most fun I’ve ever had,” said Gabel, who described his alter ego’s look as “very street,in a flamboyant, theatrical, grounded way,” with spiky hair, fingerless gloves and “a lot of black.” Does Oliver have his work cut out for him? Sure sounds like it. “I basically rule the street, so he’s got a long way to go up the chain to get to me,” Gabel warns.

Ausiello: The CW hit’s spin on the DC Comics character Count Vertigo — here, a drug dealer peddling a super-fix dubbed “Vertigo” — is sounding even bigger and badder than we first imagined. As played by Fringe‘s Seth Gabel, the series’ first bona fide supervillain “is going to present Oliver with a new problem, because it’s the first time his actions have possibly caused things to get worse,” EP Andrew Kreisberg tells us. “He will have turned this somewhat minor drug dealer into a real force of destruction.” As for the man behind the menace, Kreisberg says Gabel is no less than “phenomenal in the part. The dailies are just blowing us away.”

Fringe: Season 5--Seth Gabel Leaving-TVLine

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Seth Gabel won't be returning to the show as a series regular for the fifth and final season. Although, it sounds like Gabel might possibly return for an episode or two before Fringe ends.

My thoughts: I have to say that I find the news that Seth  Gabel won't be returning for the final season very disappointing. I loved the character Lincoln in both universes, and I've been a huge fan of Seth Gabel's ever since he was on Dirty Sexy Money.

Fringe: Seth Gabel Reveals the Lincolns' Feelings for Both Olivias-TVLine

They say love knows no boundaries, and on Fox’s multi-universe-traversing Fringe (Fridays at 9/8c), it truly doesn’t.

For one, Peter and Olivia pined for each other across time and space as he shacked up with Alt Olivia while the real FBI agent he loves was shackled up Over There. But that’s not the only romance that’s populated the universes. Alt Lincoln last season confessed some pretty heavy emotions for red-headed, badass Olivia, and his Over Here alter-ego may be developing some feelings for our Olivia as well, Seth Gabel hinted during a Vancouver set visit arranged by Warner Bros. TV.

“Lincoln seems somehow bound to [our] Olivia in some way,” he says, adding that Alt Lincoln is also “very intrigued by her because he doesn’t know much about her. She’s obviously another version of the woman he likes or loves, so he’s titillated.”

Whether that connection between our Olivia and Lincoln develops into “a brotherly relationship or a love relationship remains to be seen,” notes Gabel. “But there’s definitely love there.”




Over in the other universe, the dynamic between Alt Lincoln and Alt Olivia is more clearly – and frustratingly – defined as unrequited. Although the two have “really great chemistry,” Gabel notes, Alt Olivia doesn’t respond to her partner in the way he so desperately desires. “She sees it very much as a brother/sister relationship, so she’s very open and welcoming to [him],” explains Gabel. “She’s happy to have someone to play with, and I just want her to love me.”

Given that Alt Lincoln is crushing hard on his pal, but can’t have her, could he start dating the blonde doppelganger he’s so “titillated” by instead? “I think, logistically, it’s really difficult,” Gabel admits, noting with a laugh that the crossover “bridge” security would make it quite a process. “It’s a real long distance relationship. But I think it’s possible.”

Another potential obstacle to such a long-distance romance: Peter, whose imminent return Gabel describes as “dramatic.” But don’t expect any fights to break out between the two guys. On our side, “Lincoln and Peter seem to get along,” he says. In fact, Gabel labels their relationship as “whatever the definition of bromance is without using that word.”

“I don’t think there’s a competitive nature there,” he continues. “I’m hoping because there are alts of each person and only one Peter that Lincoln and Peter can be ultimately happy in some way.”

There’s one other relationship Gabel would like to see, though he failed to specify his meaning — the Olivias? the Lincs? — when he offered it up unsolicited. “I want the T-shirt for this season to be, ‘It’s not incest if it’s in a different universe,’” he shared with a laugh.
