Grey's Anatomy: Amelia, April and Jackson related scoop from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos
Here's some scoop on Grey's Anatomy from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 11/25/14.
Leah: I can't wait until January for more Grey's Anatomy! Got scoop to time me over until then?
You're not the only one who thinks the winter hiatus is too long. "I'm a fan of the show too so I'm just so excited to see it return!" Caterina Scorsone, who plays our new favorite neurosurgeon Amelia Shepherd, told us. "I can't wait to see how all the particular stories unfold. But I am—well, I don't want to say excited, because that's not the right word—I'm drawn into Kepner and Avery's baby story in part because it resonates so deeply in Amelia's backstory. She had a really difficult journey with her baby. It will be incredibly interesting to see how their story plays out."

Grey's Anatomy: Scoop on the possibility of Amelia being able to save Dr. Hermann's life from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams
Here's some scoop on Grey's Anatomy from Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams' The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 11/21/14.
Can Amelia really save Dr. Hermann on Grey’s Anatomy? — Joy
There’s certainly a chance, especially when Amelia gets obsessed with the tumor. “Amelia almost starts to form a bit of a relationship with it,” Caterina Scorsone says. “She’s so awed by the mystery of this impending doom. It becomes personal for her. She’s lost so many people in her own life that saving lives has become really the central focus of her energy.” How will Hermann feel? “Ultimately she’s on a mission to save babies,” Scorsone says. “She eventually puts that ahead of her skepticism about the surgery.”

Grey's Anatomy: Amelia and Derek related scoop on the season 11 mid-season finale (Episode 11x08 "Risk") from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich
Here's some scoop on Grey's Anatomy from this week's (Posted on 11/17/14) Matt's Inside Line column.
Anything on Grey’s Anatomy’s final two fall episodes? —Jennifer
Amelia doesn’t exactly follow through on her threat to move out of Casa de Mer/Der in the wake of her brother’s near-betrayal. As Caterina Scorsone teased to Michael Ausiello, “She’s still lingering in the house a little bit” in this Thursday’s episode. “She knows he’s sorry, and she knows that he’s really struggling. One of the things Amelia’s demons have given her is a deep well of compassion.” Having said that, the fact that Derek waffled on whether to go to bat for his kid sis “fundamentally changes the way Amelia sees him, and the way she sees the dynamic of their relationship. She can forgive but she won’t forget.”

Please tell me we’ll get more scenes between Amelia and Owen on Grey’s Anatomy! — Ophelia
It sounds like we’ll get the first spark between Amelia and Owen next week when they have a “nice moment of understanding” after Amelia wants to address her sobriety more directly with Owen in the wake of what happened during Thursday s episode. “She expects him to be hard on her about what went down, but he knows what it’s like to live with demons,” Caterina Scorsone says. “He is surprisingly sensitive to what she’s been through and what she’s going through. That takes her back a little bit.” So, what’s the ‘shipper name?

Grey's Anatomy: Scoop on the possibility of Owen and Amelia becoming a couple from TVGuide's Adam Bryant
Here's some scoop on Grey's Anatomy from TVGuide's Adam Bryant's Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 11/11/14.
Thanks for the Grey's Anatomy scoop on Amelia. Any romance coming up for her? — Marcia
"There have been some seeds planted," Caterina Scorsone says. (She's talking about Owen, right?) But their potential romance will be a slow burn. "Because Amelia's been through so much and gone through so much heartbreak, I think they're just going to be very careful with how and when they set up the romantic stuff," she says. "Amelia just got out of an engagement. And if it was with Owen... he would need lots of time to heal from his recent relationship. Whatever happens, they're going to approach it with a lot of sensitivity."

Grey’s Anatomy: Caterina Scorsone Promoted to Series Regular for Season 11
According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Caterina Scorsone who reprised the role of Amelia Shepard from Private Practice, at the end of Grey's Anatomy's 10th season has been promoted to series regular status for the show's upcoming 11th season. Here's an excerpt from the article:
Back in April, Scorsone told TVLine that she remained hopeful that Shonda Rhimes would keep Derek’s kid sister around next season. “There are so many complicated aspects to where this story could go in the future,” she shared. “I would absolutely be game to play in this world as long as she wanted me there.”
Scorsone’s promotion follows the spring departures of Grey’s cast members Sandra Oh (Cristina), Gaius Charles (Shane) and Tessa Ferrer (Leah).

My thoughts: Personally, I always loved the character Amelia Shepard and I thought that Caterina Scorsone did an amazing job of playing the character on Private Practice, so I'm very excited to hear that she'll be sticking around on Grey's Anatomy next season. While I think that Grey's Anatomy already has a fairly large cast, I think this is a good move the producers' part given the fact that Sandra Oh, Gaius Charles and Tessa Ferrer have all left the show. I like that they are bringing in a new series regular character that's already been established on the show in the past in a smaller capacity and has a connection to several of the already existing characters on the show rather than bringing in an all new character that may or may not have a connection to the other characters on the show.
It always bugs me when long-running shows add all new characters that have little if any connection to the already existing characters just for the sake of filling the void left by departing cast members or simply as an attempt on the writers' part to freshen things up on a show that's been on the air for a long time like Grey's Anatomy has been. If producers of long-running TV shows want to add cast members to a show for any variety of reasons, I think the best thing to do in most situations is to bring back previous cast members or make past or present recurring guest-stars series regulars like the show is doing with Caterina Scorsone. All things considered, I'm very happy about this news, and I can't wait to see what the writers decide to do with Amelia storyline wise now that she'll be sticking around as a series regular for Grey's Anatomy's 11th season.

Will Amelia stick around next season on Grey's Anatomy? — Tara
There's no official word on what the cast will look like next year, but it's safe to say Amelia will find it more difficult to leave Seattle this time around. "She's really realizing the value of having her family around," Caterina Scorsone tells me. "She's definitely thinking about the pros and cons of living so far away in Los Angeles." One major pro? Having a new sister! Look for Amelia and Meredith to do some major bonding while Derek is out of town.
