Community: Scoop on the possibility of a movie being made from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

http://assets-s3.usmagazine.com/uploads/assets/articles/84431-community-season-6-premieres-on-yahoo-nsfw-language-and-more-changes/1426553890_community-cast-shot-zoom.jpg

Here's some scoop on Community from this week's (Posted on 10/22/15) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any update on a Community movie? I don’t wanna let Greendale go! —Nelson
Ausiello:
“Yes, we’ve finally secured the $250 million we need for principal shooting, and we still need to find $100 million more. It’ll make Pirates of the Caribbean look like Sideways, that’s how big it is,” Joel McHale jokes when we ask him that very question. All joking aside, McHale notes that Community creator Dan Harmon “needs to write the script, but he’s one of the busiest people in Hollywood.” McHale also says he would be open to doing more episodes of the series, but a Season 7 seems highly unlikely in light of reports that Yahoo lost a staggering $42 million on the show. Fun fact: Paintball equipment? Not cheap!

Community: Scoop on the future of the show from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

http://cbsnews1.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2015/01/13/95ef060d-ff06-42d1-9320-f5b67752f51d/thumbnail/620x350/4bd7b9482a78f05b11a71a2eb1ec3f1d/communitycastphoto.jpg

Here's some scoop on Community from this week's (Posted on 6/4/15) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Oh great and powerful, I wouldn’t bug you, but there are no web series on your renewal scorecard. Selfishly, the only one I care about is Community. Any news on a Season 7? —Doug
Ausiello: Firstly, you seemingly weren’t looking at our Cable Renewal Scorecard (where we tuck away all the non-broadcast goodies). But at this point, a movie seems far more likely than a seventh season. With much of the cast already committed to new shows — Gillian Jacobs/Netflix’s Love, Ken Jeong/ABC’s Dr. Ken, Paget Brewster/Fox’s Grandfathered, etc; — “It would be easier to make the movie than another season,” acknowledges Jacobs. What’s more, this week’s Season 6 finale truly felt like a series finale, on screen and (per Jacobs) off. “In previous years, I’ve always been in denial, like, ‘No, we’re coming back!’ [But] this year, our contracts are up. The future is very uncertain. And, for once, it’s not because of network disdain or lack of interest. We’ve just done it for six years and there’s a very different feeling.”

Community: Scoop on the possibility of Hulu picking the show up for a sixth season from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Community from this week's (Posted on 6/10/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any word on how talks are going regarding Hulu picking up Community? Please tell me we haven’t seen the last of Annie’s Boobs. —Tom
Ausiello: I would if I could but I can’t. Unfortunately, I hear it’s looking unlikely that Hulu will come to the show’s rescue, although talks are continuing. Danny Pudi, meanwhile, tells us, “I’m not holding on to any hope. If it happens, great! If it doesn’t, I feel great about what we were able to accomplish.”

Here are five awesome finale teases: 1. A massive "Sh!" battle. 2. This gem: "What does this look like? An hour-long episode of The Office?!" 3. Major Goonies vibes. 4. A sweet Jeff and Annie moment (and major jealousy on Annie's behalf after hearing of his plans to marry Britta).  5. A super meta-reference to the show's possible season six pickup.

Here's some scoop on Community from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 4/2/14.

Will: Community is on fire this year, but I miss Troy! Please tell me Donald Glover will at least return for the finale or something?
Funny you should ask, because we asked Dan Harmon the same question (while wearing a Troy and Abed in the Morning T-shirt, obviously). "No, I'll spoil that so you don't sit there and wait for it," the creator spills. "Donald does not come back in season five. He comes back in season six! That's my hope."

Here's some scoop on Community from TVGuide's Natalie Abrams' Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 1/28/14.

So are Abed and Annie, but they need a new roommate, stat! "There's an episode where Annie and Abed ... get into a competition to see who gets to choose who will move in with them," Alison Brie says. Could their new roommate be Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, who guest-stars in the same episode?

Question: Any scoop on who Paget Brewster is playing in this Thursday’s Community? —Theresa
Ausiello: The Criminal Minds vet guest stars as “an angry IT lady whose office is the [Greendale] basement — and she doesn’t have a parking spot,” Brewster tells us. “Jonathan Banks and Alison Brie (as Hickey and Annie) come to me to finagle a favor, and it becomes this ‘quid pro quo’ situation where I then try to get something out of them.”

Community: Scoop on episode 5x04 from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Community from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 1/13/14.

Beth: I'm so excited to have Community back in my life, but I can't believe Pierce died! What's next for the  Greendale gang?
Another hilarious, fantastic, secret-revealing bottle episode, for one. Episode four, titled "Cooperative Polygraphy" finds the study group (including Teacher Jeff) confined to the study room for some polygraph tests, overseen by Justified's Walton Goggins. Why? Oh, it just has to do with someone's will. There is also sperm involved, because of course there is.

Community: Jeff related scoop and more on the season 5 premiere (Episode 5x01 "Repilot") from TVGuide's Adam Bryant and Natalie Abrams

Here's some scoop on Community from TVGuide's Adam Bryant and Natalie Abrams' Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 12/17/13.

What can you tell me about the new season of Community? — Hunter
ADAM:
As you may have guessed from some of the promos, Jeff's time away from Greendale has turned him back into the jerk we met at the beginning of the series. He might be suing the community college in the season premiere, but by the end of the episode, his time with the study group will once again warm his heart. And even though Chevy Chase has left the cast, Pierce's presence is still very much felt — especially when the show reveals just how permanent his exit from the show truly is.

Community: Jeff and Annie related scoop on episode 5x02 "Introduction to Teaching" and episode 5x03 "Basic Intergluteal Numismatics" and more on season 5 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Community from this week's (Posted on 12/17/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Do you have any good Jeff/Annie spoilers for the upcoming season of Community? —Alex
Ausiello: Nothing that involves heavy petting (or even light petting), and that seems to be by design. “Overall, it’s been a less romance-heavy season,” Gillian Jacobs tells us. “It’s more about each of us having adventures together or in pairs, but not as much romance.” That said, in Episode 2, Annie takes measures to be “closer” to (or keep an eye on?) Jeff, while Episode 3 reveals that, in certain situations, she calls Jeff her “uncle.”

Community: Scoop on episode 5x02 "Introduction to Teaching" and Annie related scoop on season 5 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Community from this week's (Posted on 12/13/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

With Pierce gone (thank god) and Troy leaving (miss you, Donald Glover), will Community‘s Greendale Seven become the Greendale Five? Or will they try to fill out the group with new characters? –ShaLinda
I can’t yet vouch for any Troy “replacement” plan, but by the end of Season 5′s second episode, someone else is sitting in Pierce’s seat at the study group table, and it’s a very awesome choice.

What’s our favorite overachiever Annie Edison up to this season on Community? –Jennifer
For one, she’s keeping a watchful eye on Mr. Winger as he enters this new stage of his Greendale existence. Alison Brie also will get to play with guest star Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) when Annie and Professor Hickey get wrapped up in planning an event for the college.

Community: Scoop on Walton Goggins' role in episode 5x04 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Community from this week's (Posted on 12/3/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Anything Community-related? —Orla
Ausiello: The private investigator Walton Goggins is playing in the Jan. 16 outing — the comedy’s latest bottle episode — couldn’t be less like his Justified alter ego Boyd Crowder, says Joel McHale. “Totally, completely different,” he insists. “It’s like the difference between Jeff Daniels in The Newsroom and Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber.” Furthermore, “There’s something he does — and it’s not the actual moment but something he does throughout the beginning [of the episode] — that is brilliant.” Trying to remember the last time WG did something that wasn’t brilliant. A little help here, please. Can’t you see I’m struggling?!

Community: Shirley related scoop on episode 5x05, casting related scoop and scoop on Donald Glover's departure from the show from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Community from this week's (Posted on 9/24/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: With Jeff’s daddy issues settled and Pierce gone, where will Community go for biological family dramedy now? —Robert
Ausiello: Back to Shirley’s brood. Two of her sons will return in this season’s fifth episode, only they’ll be older (early teens) and, per casting intel, with “lovely singing voices.” The benched NBC comedy is also on the lookout for an actor to play a student reporter, who is seen grilling a faculty member during a time of crisis. BTW, I think this is Donald Glover’s final episode, so the “crisis” part has me a smidge worried. They wouldn’t kill off Troy, would they?

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 9 episode to mock Emmy snubs

Always-Sunny-802.jpg

According to Entertainment Weekly's James Hibberd, the writers of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will be doing an episode in the show's upcoming ninth season where the show will mock the fact that the Emmy voters have constantly snubbed the show for Emmy awards throughout its run. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some scoop on the episode as well as several season 9 episodes:

But the cast is going to tackle the issue in an episode this fall titled “The Gang Desperately Tries to Win an Award.” The setup: They realize all the other local bars win awards and so they visit the competition to see what they’re doing “right.” Then they change Paddy’s Pub to try and fit the formula. Naturally, the makeover doesn’t go very well.

When the subject was brought up while the gang was on a press tour panel in Beverly Hills on Friday, there was naturally some riffing about this:

“I didn’t even realize the nominations came out until a couple days later,” said co-star Kaitlin Olson. “I was like, ‘oh, it’s a shame again this year.’”
“Gary Oldman hasn’t won an Academy Award,” said co-star Glenn Howerton. “We’re the Gary Oldman of shows.”

“There’s traffic and then you have to put the suit on…” co-star Danny DeVito said.

“You have to do makeup and stuff…” Olson added.

More seriously, creator Rob McElhenney thought that the show’s trajectory may be a reason for being overlooked, too. “We were off the radar for so long, by the time we’re [more visible] in the fifth season, the Emmy voter is thinking, ‘That’s not the new show, it’s the old show,’” he said. “Honestly, we haven’t made a concerted effort to [try to win].”

Other episodes next season include an Flowers for Algernon-inspired episode penned by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss where Charlie takes a drug that makes him smarter, a Thanksgiving-themed episode where the gang invites all their enemies to dinner, they’re also doing another Lethal Weapon parody, plus Gale the Snail (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and Bill Ponderosa (Lance Barber) are coming back.

***Special Note***

Starting with the show's upcoming ninth season, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will air on the FX network's new comedy focused spin-off channel FXX.

***Special Note***

My thoughts: Personally, I think this sounds like a great idea for an episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. As much as I love Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory, which are two shows that are constantly being nominated and winning  Emmys, I for one love It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia a trillion times more. It's definitely the best and funniest comedy TV series that I've ever seen in my entire life, and I've watched a lot of TV in my lifetime, so that's really saying something. I've always felt like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia was far more deserving of winning a lot of awards than Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory have ever been. I would definitely say that's especially true when it comes to Modern Family's fourth season. As much as I love Modern Family, I'm actually hoping that it doesn't win another Emmy award for best comedy TV series this year, because I don't think that season four was good enough to deserve winning an Emmy for the season.

One of the countless things that I love about It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is how they've constantly tackled a variety of social and political issues in an extremely absurd and funny way. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is probably the only comedy TV series that's consistently been able to make me laugh hysterically simply by thinking about it. That being said, I think it's a shame that some of what I think are the funniest comedies on TV right now are the ones that don't get the greatest ratings. I would say that's definitely the case when it comes to Parks and Recreation, Happy Endings and to some extent Community. Finally, if you're not already watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I strongly urge you to check it out immediately, especially if you are a fan of the show Seinfeld. A critic once described the show as being "Seinfeld on crack", and if I had to describe It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia in just one sentence, that's definitely the perfect way to describe the show. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia truly is the funniest TV show that I've ever seen in my entire life.

Community: Scoop on episode 4x11 "Basic Human Anatomy" from Zap2it's Carina Adly MacKenzie

Here's some scoop on Community from Carina Adly MacKenzie's Monday Kickstart column for the week of 4/22/13.

"Community": This Thursday marks an homage to the body-swapping film genre. In addition to multiple swaps, the episode also brings us a murder-mystery club, Pierce's surprising banner-making talent, and some serious Leonard action. Also, did you know that Greendale Community College bylaws allow three wishes to any student scolded by the Dean?

Community: Dean Pelton related scoop from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Community from this week's (Posted on 4/16/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: You’ve stopped giving us any Community scoop! Why? —Kavya
Ausiello: Because I haven’t had anything to give… until now. In an upcoming episode, Dean P will unveil his most shocking outfit to date. “His shirt comes off,” co-showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port tell TVLine’s Meg Masters. “Sometimes the best costume is no costume.” In possibly related news, the EPs hint that Dean and Jeff will make a “big, um, commitment” in an upcoming episode, adding, “There’s more Jeff/Dean for sure… Big steps.”
