Revenge: Casts Justin Hartley as Victoria's Long-Lost Son! | E! Online

According to E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos, Justin Hartley has been cast as Victoria's long-lost son, Patrick, for a multi-episode arc and his first appearance will be in the season 3 premiere of Revenge. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some more details on the role of Patrick:

Revenge's season two finale ended with a smashing cliffhanger—Patrick appeared at the Graysons' doorstep, and though we never saw his face, the very sight of him shocked Victoria enough to make her drop her glass, shattering it on the floor. Patrick's return will assuredly send shockwaves through the Hamptons in the new season.

Justin Hartley was a fan favorite on Smallville, playing Oliver Queen (Arrow) in the final seasons as a series regular. The 36-year-old actor also played the title role of Aquaman in a failed pilot for the CW, and last appeared on television in the canceled series Emily Owens M.D.

Though fans don't yet know much about Patrick, we know Victoria gave birth to him at age 16 and then gave him away to a nun when he was only 6 months old so that she could attend art school in Paris. (Priorities, people! Beauty before babies!) When Patrick started looking for Victoria later on, she paid him $5 million to disappear. Guess that didn't work?

My thoughts: I've been a huge fan of Justin Hartley ever since he joined the cast of the now canceled soap opera, Passions, and I also liked him on Smallvile, so I'm really excited that he has been cast as Victoria's long-lost son. Although, I have to admit that I fell behind on watching Revenge an episode or two past the halfway point of season two. I'm definitely going to get caught up on watching season 2 in the near future though.

As for season 3, I'm really excited for next season, especially now that they've killed off Declan. I never liked Declan as a character, and I've especially never been a fan of Connor Paolo as an actor. I always thought that his acting wasn't very good when he was on Gossip Girl, and his acting on Revenge was always mediocre at best in my opinion. Justin Hartley being cast as Patrick is definitely the best and most exciting news that I've heard about Revenge's third season at the moment.

Revenge: Ashley Madekwe Leaving—Won’t Appear in Season 3-TVLine

According to TVLine's Vlada Gelman, Ashley Madekwe's series regular option wasn't picked up for Revenge's third season, and she won't be making any appearances on the show next season. Here's an excerpt from the article:

As first reported by our sister site Deadline, the actress’ option was not picked up due to “storyline reasons.”

Madekwe’s ouster is the latest in a string of Revenge shakeups, including the death of Connor Paolo’s polarizing Declan in the Season 2 finale and the shocking departure of creator Mike Kelley. As previously reported, executive producer Sunil Nayar will take over as showrunner next season.

My thoughts: I always kind of liked the character Ashley, so a part of me is sad to see her go. That being said, she always seemed like a rather extraneous character to me. I always felt like her main purpose on the show was to introduce Emily to Victoria at the beginning of the series. Once she did that, it felt like Ashley was just kind of "there" and it seemed like the writers never knew exactly what to do with the character. I can't help but wonder if one of the reasons the writers made Ashley Conrad's assistant for his political campaign was to give Ashley Madekwe something to do. Besides that, they never gave her that much of a storyline.

It's possible that not bringing Ashley Madekwe back is also partly because for budgetary reasons. After all, Revenge's ratings really declined quite a bit last season. Perhaps ABC renewed Revenge with one of the conditions of the show's renewal being that they would make budget cuts. I, along with a lot of other people that I've encountered online were never really a fan of Connor Paolo as an actor, or Declan as a character, so that could be why the producers felt like they should kill Declan off the show. Although, at least killing Declan off the show will definitely help move the story forward, so that might have been the only reason why the producers killed him off the show, but I digress.

All that being said, I really will miss Ashley Madekwe, and I hope that she will be able to find work on another show where she will be better utilized as an actress.

Revenge: Great news, everybody! Emily is finally breaking out her red Sharpie again! (My thoughts on episode 2x10 “Power”)

After watching the show venture away from the main premise of Revenge, which is Emily carrying out her plan for revenge against the people who ruined both her and her father’s lives, in the first nine episodes of season two, this episode was definitely a major return to form as the writers finally did a takedown of the week episode for the first time this season. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved season two so far, and an episode doesn’t have to be a takedown of the week episode in order for me to be able to enjoy the show, because I always enjoy watching Revenge. However, if I’m being honest I’ve always loved the takedown of the week episodes the most, because I feel like they always really give Emily VanCamp the chance to shine as an actress, and they are simply always a lot of fun to watch.

Aside from the fact that this was a take down of the week episode, one of the other main reasons why I thoroughly enjoyed this episode is that it felt very reminiscent of what the show was like before the writers introduced the Americon Initiative last season. This episode did a great job of demonstrating what made me fall in love with Revenge in the first place. Plus, I feel like this episode also featured some very interesting plot developments, several of which were previewed in this post that I had previously commented on:Spoilers on Victoria and The Initiative.

I think it’s safe to say that one of main complaints that a lot of viewers have had about season two is the whole thing with the Americon Initiative. While I haven’t hated that element of season two, it’s definitely the main thing that I view as being responsible for the show getting off track and straying away from Emily’s quest for revenge. Plus, I feel like it unnecessarily complicated the plot of the show to a certain degree rather than help the show evolve in a good way by making Revenge feel like it was a massive widespread conspiracy driven show. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not somebody who’s incapable of handling stories with complicated plots. One of all-time my favorite TV shows is Lost. It’s just that the show was relatively simple when it began as Emily embarked on her quest for revenge. Plus, I liked the show best when Emily and Victoria’s adversarial relationship was a vital and central element of the show. When the Americon Initiative was introduced, Emily and Victoria basically ceased to interact with each other or try to keep tabs on what the other was doing and instead they became consumed with dealing with the Americon Initiative for their own separate reasons.

In this episode Emily and Victoria forged a new found alliance, but of course Emily is continuing along with her plan for revenge. This was definitely most interesting plot development in this episode and in season two in general so far for me personally. Part of their alliance involved Emily setting out to reconnect with Daniel and work towards a reconciling with him. However, in order to do that Emily and Aiden had to stage a very heated argument in front of Daniel where they seemingly breakup, but Emily later told Nolan that it was all an act and a part of her plan for revenge. 

Revenge Star on Finding Out Who Dies: "I Threw a Chair Through a Window!"-E! Online

Here's an article by E! Online's Tierney Bricker with some scoop on episode 15, which is the episode that they will be revealing who Daniel's killer is, that comes directly fron Connor Paolo (Declan) and Christa B. Allen (Charlotte). Here's an excerpt from the article:

"We all read it for the first time in a read-through sitting around a table," Paolo tells us. "And when I found out I picked up a chair and threw it through a window. We were excited."

So yeah, it's safe to say our excitement for episode 15, aptly titled "Chaos," just went up a few levels, if that was even possible.

When the hit ABC series returns Feb. 8, summer is coming to an end, Hamptonites, and things are about to get very, very dark! "From what I've heard," Allen teases, "once we start to getting into winter things get very cold and very dark in more than one way. We've kind of had the position during summer of these parties and you can kind of be distracted from all the craziness that's happening, but I think once the winter hits it's going to get even more real because you don't have all that celebration and fun."

Paolo adds, "The show has been on a downhill from the beginning. It started dangerous and now it's like real, real, real dangerous."

Speaking of dangerous, let's get back to that whole someone dying thing, shall we? "I think some of us saw it coming," Allen says of the reveal, while Paolo adds, "I guess if you do want to sit down and play Sherlock Holmes with it you can, but I think it's more fun to just let it take you wherever."

While they're not spilling any details about the upcoming death (they'd like to keep their jobs, thank you very much!), the duo teased that not all is revealed in the episode, like the identity of the murderer. "We allude to who did it, but we don't confirm," Allen says. Paolo says viewers will "have at least three of four Clue suspects. It could be Colonel Mustard or Mr. Plum or the green one. From the way the script is written, it hints that it could've gone a couple different ways."

Now that we know Charlotte is Emily's (Emily VanCamp) half-sibling, will she be getting in on some of the revenge? "Only so many people can be involved in this scheme without it being crazy," Paolo explains. "You can't have six people all trying to bring down the Graysons. I want to see them find their own line of things."

Gossip Girl: Season 5 Episode 100: Who's Invited to Blair's Wedding and Who Isn't-TVLine

Now that the secret’s out about Blair’s royal wedding to Prince Louis taking place during Gossip Girl‘s 100th episode, it’s time to turn our attention to what is arguably the most important element of the big event: The coveted guest list! Executive producer Josh Safran gave TVLine the scoop on some of the familiar faces that will — and more intriguingly won’t — be making the trek to Manhattan for the nups.


IN | Georgina. TVLine already reported that the wicked witch of the Upper East Side will be back for the wedding of the year, but we can’t imagine Blair actually inviting her. Maybe she disguises herself as an altar girl? Or maybe she cashes in on Charlie’s secret to get an inside pass?

OUT | Jenny. Taylor Momsen’s troubled alter ego is in London playing designing woman, and Safran confirms that she won’t be crossing the pond for the festivities. Blair would probably prefer to keep an ocean between herself and her rogue minion anyway.

IN | Georgina’s hubby, Philip. Scheming Georgina’s other half (played by Nick Cornish) will be back, so perhaps we’ll finally learn how he was able to rein in the feisty brunette and reduce her to marital boredom.

OUT | Vanessa. Last seen stealing Dan’s book, which included a, um, revealing chapter about Blair, it’s no surprise Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) will not be heading back. “Not that Blair would ever allow Vanessa at the wedding,” adds Safran with a laugh.

IN | Blair’s father, Harold (John Shea). He’ll make the trip from France to see his little girl get hitched. However, his partner, Roman, will not be accompanying him. But Safran assures us that “their relationship is in tact.”

OUT | Eric. Serena’s kid brother is away at school. But more importantly, his portrayer, Connor Paolo, is otherwise engaged on ABC’s Revenge.

CSI: NY Scoop: Justin Bruening, Robbie Amell Cop Killer Guest Spots-TVLine

All My Children alum Justin Bruening has landed yet another fall TV guest spot, this time on CSI: NY — and he’s not the only one bound for the CBS procedural.


TVLine has learned exclusively that Robbie Amell (Robin’s puppy-like lover on How I Met Your Mother, and little bro to Vampire Diaries alum Stephen Amell) will appear opposite Bruening in the Oct. 21 installment of the series.

Justin Bruening Returns to All My Children

Bruening will play Hank, a recent parolee who becomes a suspect in a murder investigation, much to the dismay of his basketball star younger brother (Amell).

WeLoveSoaps.net broke the news of Bruening’s casting.

Prior to landing their respective CSI: NY guest spots, both actors lined up gigs on two of the new TV season’s buzziest freshman series. As TVLine first reported, Bruening will attempt to woo Sarah Michelle Gellar on The CW’s Ringer, while Amell will be a recurring player on ABC’s Revenge, fighting over a rich girl with Gossip Girl alum Connor Paolo.

Season 8 of CSI: NY launches Friday, Sept. 23.
