Covert Affairs: McQuaid related scoop and more on the end of season 5 from TVGuide's Adam Bryant

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from TVGuide's Adam Bryant's Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 11/18/14.

Is McQuaid's wife really dead on Covert Affairs? What if she's alive and working with Belenko? — Justin
That would be something, right? Alas, creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord promise that McQuaid's late wife, whom he casually mentioned in the summer finale, is just part of his backstory. "The stakes of these [remaining episodes] are so high and focused on Auggie that we're not really finding time for other things, so that's not something that will come up," Ord says. "But never say never in the future."

Question: It seems like Covert Affairs just wants to give us little nuggets of information about Annie’s health issues. Can you give us anything more than that? —Jenna
Ausiello: Not much more, but executive producer Chris Ord tells us that Annie’s heart condition “will still be a big part of what she needs to deal with going forward” this season. EP Matt Corman, meanwhile, hints that said health issue will “take on new complexities.”

Oded Fehr’s Eyal resurfaces in Episode 11 (titled “Trigger Cut” and airing Nov. 6), when Annie heads on a reconnaissance mission in Istanbul, while McQuaid’s health hangs in the balance. In that same midseason opener, Arthur takes the reins at McQuaid Security and Calder recruits a surprising new asset.

White Collar: USA Network Announces Season 6 Premiere Date

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, USA Network has announced that the season premiere of the sixth and final season of White Collar will air on Thursday, November 6 at 9 P.M./8 P.M. Central. White Collar's season premiere will lead into the season 5 mid-season premiere of Covert Affairs. Here's an excerpt from the article, which includes a statement from the president of USA Network, Chris McCumber and the creator of White Collar, Jeff Eastin.

“From its inception, White Collar captured a massive and loyal following, in large part due to the incredible on-screen chemistry between Matt [Bomer] and Tim [DeKay], who deserve credit for one of the most brilliantly performed ‘bromances’ in all of television,” USA Network president Chris McCumber said in a statement. “The series also benefited from smart writing and an extraordinarily talented supporting cast, who helped it become a fan favorite crime drama for five straight years. This season will not disappoint, with an exciting and shocking ending that fans will never forget.”

Adds series creator Jeff Eastin: “Saying goodbye to White Collar — and Neal and Peter — after six successful seasons is incredibly difficult, but I couldn’t be prouder of what our entire team has accomplished over the last six years. I’m grateful to FTVS and USA for giving the show a great home, and I can’t wait for fans to see the twists, surprises and phenomenal performances our final season has in store for them.”

My thoughts: I'm so glad that USA Network has finally announced the premiere date for the final season of White Collar. Hopefully, this means that a release date for the season 5 DVD set will be announced in the near future, because I've been very anxious for them to announce a release date for it. Unfortunately, I never got around to watching the show's fifth season when it was airing on TV, so I'm going to have to get caught up by watching season 5 on DVD. As much as I love White Collar, there's a part of me that feels like it's time for the show to end, so I'm not too incredibly sad that season 6 will be the show's final season. Plus, I get the feeling that Matt Bomer is ready to move on to other things since he's been involved in so many other projects besides White Collar in the past few years. Given the fact that so many TV shows are prematurely canceled these days, and I know that season 5 ended with a cliffhanger, I'm just glad that show is fortunate enough to have been renewed for a sixth and final season where it will hopefully have a proper ending to the series.

Covert Affairs: Scoop on Amy Jo Johnson's debut in episode 5x02 "False Skorpion" from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from this week's (Posted on 6/24/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Every season of Covert Affairs, Auggie has found himself in handcuffs at least once. Any hints as to what kind of trouble he’ll get into this season? —Rhiannon
Ausiello: Female trouble — sans handcuffs (I think). In next Tuesday’s episode, Felicity‘s Amy Jo Johnson makes her debut as Hayley, an investigator with the National Counter-Terrorism Center who takes a shine to Auggie. But first and foremost, “Hayley comes into the show in a spy story-related capacity,” previews executive producer Chris Ord. “So [that] will collide and make their relationship something more than just romantic.”

Covert Affairs scoop, please! — Christine
Season 5 picks up four months later, but Annie has not been back at the DPD during that whole time. When she finally does return to work in the premiere, she'll tell Auggie and Calder where she was, but not what she was doing. (Gotta love a woman of mystery!) Also, be on the lookout for an old face from Season 3 to resurface.

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from TVGuide's Natalie Abrams' Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 6/10/14.

Got any Covert Affairs scoop? — Rachel
Annie isn't the only person who has history with Max Martini's character, Nathan Mueller, a former op who also went off the grid. Turns out, Auggie worked with him back in the day, and when Nate resurfaces, Auggie calls on another old contact to find out why Nate went rogue in the first place. The reason is the last thing he expects.

Ausiello: “No promotions so far this year,” Christopher Gorham answered when we chatted him up at Upfronts, “and I’d be surprised if we see any more of that, because really, Auggie loves what he does, and nothing else really fits.”

Covert Affairs: Scoop on season 5 from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 6/3/14.

Vance: Covert Affairs doesn't get enough love. I can't believe more people aren't talking about it after the big season it came off of.
People are talking, maybe you need new friends? One person who is for sure talking about it is Hill Harper who is both a fan and a cast member. And some lines are going to get blurred. "The show's really evolved, I think. I just joined it last year, but I watched all the seasons leading up. It used to be about [Annie] being new, her in the CIA, using her charm to figure it out and all that stuff," he told us. "Now it's changed to something else…I'm her boss, we don't necessarily get along. I have a kind of hardline approach to it. My character thinks there are bad people in the world and there are good people in the world and you should eliminate the bad. Her character thinks you can turn bad people good. It's an inherent conflict. I'm excited about the show. It's getting deeper and deeper."

Covert Affairs: Annie and Calder related scoop and more on season 5 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from this week's (Posted on 5/27/14) Matt's Inside Line column.

On Covert Affairs, how has Annie going dark and now trying to come in from the cold changed the relationship between her and Auggie? –Shelby
All told, “It’s a bit of a reset” when Annie resurfaces after months off the grid, Christopher Gorham reveals. “Coming off of what happened to her, she kind of ‘needs a minute’…. Her big challenge this year is that she wants to keep her work life separate from her personal life. Auggie understands that and gives her the space she needs – but at the end of the day, he may end up giving her more space than she bargained for!”

We saw Calder go from potential bad guy to hero last season on Covert Affairs. What can we expect from “the Sheriff” this year? –Shelby
You can expect struggles on the personal and professional fronts. “We may see him mess up in his personal life,” Hil Harper hints. “He starts having sex, that’s for sure – but maybe sex with the wrong person!” Meanwhile at the CIA, Calder is still the interim boss, “but Joan wants her job back, so there’s a bit of a thing there that we’ve got to figure that out,” Harper previews. P.S. Speaking of Joan, know that Kari Matchett’s real-life tot will be playing Joan and Arthur’s new bundle of joy.

Covert Affairs: Arthur related scoop on season 5 from TVGuide's Natalie Abrams

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from TVGuide's Natalie Abrams' Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 4/29/14.

Any Covert Affairs scoop? — Carl
There's a new figure in Arthur and Joan's lives — and we're not talking about baby MacKenzie! Arthur will get a gig working for Ryan McQuaid (new regular Nic Bishop), a Navy SEAL-turned-private contractor billionaire, and his right-hand woman Caitlyn Cooper (Entourage's Perrey Reeves) will be quite, uh, welcoming toward Arthur. I mean, who wouldn't invite your new colleague to discuss mission strategies over wine?

Covert Affairs: Casting related scoop on season 5 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from this week's (Posted on 3/11/14) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Do you know anything else about the new character McQuaid on Covert Affairs yet? Like who has been cast to play him? Or are there any other Season 5 spoilers you can share? –Rachael
Ausiello: Annie’s new romantic interest has not quite been cast — and in fact, Covert is also now looking to fill the role of the private military contractor’s No. 1, Caitlyn, a confident woman in her late 30s/early 40s who just may have designs of one sort (or another) on Arthur.
