Roseanne: Guest-star related scoop and more on the revival from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Roseanne from this week's (Posted on 11/17/17) Ask Ausiello column.



Question: Any spoilers for the Roseanne reboot? —Lisa
Ausiello: Guess who’s returning? No, it’s not Johnny Galecki’s David. (Sigh… ) It’s Chuck! You know, Chuck — Dan’s poker buddy/BFF played by Grey’s Anatomy vet James Pickens Jr. (see vintage pic, right) in a total of 19 episodes over the course of the classic comedy’s original nine-season run. Sources confirm that he will appear in two of the revival’s nine episodes. BONUS SCOOP: The series’ original go-to director, Emmy winner Gail Mancuso, will helm one of the new episodes, and that makes this Roseanne fanboy/nerd deliriously happy.

Grey's Anatomy: Richard related scoop on the season 10 premiere (Episode 10x01 "Seal Our Fate") from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Grey's Anatomy from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 8/16/13.

Vinnie: Still reeling over Cristina leaving Grey's. I'm soooo bummed. Is there any good Grey's Anatomy news you can give me?
How about the fact that Dr. Richard Webber will survive the electrocution situation that went down in the season finale?! How do we know? Shonda Rhimes herself accidentally tweeted out a photo of the first table read of the season, and the actor who plays Weber, James Pickens Jr., was present and accounted for. Before you run to her Twitter to confirm this, Rhimes already realized her mistake and deleted the photo. But you know that when it comes to the Internet, nothing is ever really deleted. Of course, he could be at the table read for flashback scenes or a death scene, so nothing can be said for certain about that photo. Except for we will find out the fate of the former chief's fate in the season-ten premiere.

Grey's Anatomy: Stars Sign New Two-Year Deals-TVLine

According to TVLine's Megan Masters, Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson have all signed new two-year contracts with the show. Here's a quote from Shonda Rhimes that was included in the article, which gives some scoop on how the cast's previously uncertain futures with the show affected her plans for the season:



Showrunner Shonda Rhimes told TVLine in January that she was resolved to designing a fitting finale to Grey’s current eighth season, despite not knowing which members of the original cast would and would not return next fall.

“[It] was the most complex puzzle I’ve had to put together — ever,” she shared. ”We have all these moveable pieces of who’s coming back and who’s not, and finally I just decided to focus on what was going to be best creatively [and] make it work regardless of what is happening [off screen].”

ABC has yet to formally order a ninth season of Grey’s; the network reveals its 2012-13 TV schedule next Tuesday.

My thoughts: I'm beyond thrilled that Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson have all signed new contracts with the show since I love all of their characters. However, I have to admit that since I've never really liked the character Christina, a big part of me was hoping that Sandra Oh wasn't going to sign a new contract and that she would be leaving the show. Don't get me wrong, I like Sandra Oh as an actress in the other things that I've seen her in, it's just that I've never really liked the character Christina.
