90210: Casts Ryan Lochte in a Season 5 Episode-TVLine

http://cdn01.cdn.justjared.com/wp-content/uploads/headlines/2012/07/ryan-lochte-american-flag-grill-at-london-olympics.jpg

According to TVLine's Megan Masters, Ryan Lochte will be guest-starring in a season 5 episode of 90210. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Lochte's appearance on the show:

Playing himself, the aquatic superstar will turn up as a guest at a resort where the recently-reunited Naomi and Max are staying in an attempt to strengthen their relationship.

Lochte — who made his debut as a thesp last week in two Funny or Die videos — has been vocal about his desire to take on Hollywood after his strong showing at the 2012 London Games. However, his interests initially seemed to be of the reality variety, with the swimmer naming both Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelor as dream projects.

90210 returns to The CW on Monday, Oct. 8 at 8/7c, with Lochte’s installment airing Oct. 29.

My thoughts: Personally, I'm not exactly sure what to make of this casting news. For the most part, it just screams "stupid ratings stunt" and I don't think having Ryan Lochte guest-star in an episode is going to do anything to boost 90210's ratings for season 5. Lochte's role in Naomi and Max's storyline for the episode sounds rather stupid to me. It will probably end up being just like the season 3 premiere when they had Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian guest-star as themselves. Having the Kardashians guest-star as themselves didn't do anything to help the ratings, and it was the same thing when they've had other reality TV stars guest-star on the show.

I love 90210, but the producers are idiots if they think having reality TV stars guest-star on the show is going to attract more viewers. They've always been very lousy when it comes to who they pick for stunt casting. If the producers really want to resort to stunt casting from time to time, then they should put some serious thought into their casting process and cast popular actors instead of reality TV stars.

Drop Dead Diva: Scoop on episode 4x11 and episode 4x12 "Pick's & Pakes" from TVLine

Here's some casting scoop on episode 4x11 and episode 4x12 "Pick's & Pakes" of Drop Dead Diva from TVLine's Megan Masters.

• Tyler Jacob Moore — who this season recurred on both Showtime’s Shameless and ABC’s ill-fated GCB — will guest-star in an upcoming episode of Drop Dead Diva, TVLine has learned exclusively. The actor will appear in the Lifetime dramedy’s Aug. 12 outing as a Princeton-educated man who is arrested for donating sperm to his friend — a good deed that violates a 2005 federal law that made it illegal for gay men to donate.

In other DDD news, Kim Kardashian’s con-artist character will return for Season 4′s penultimate installment, per The Hollywood Reporter. Nancy Grace will play herself in the same hour, while Cameron Mathison (All My Children) and Ashley Jones (The Bold and the Beautiful) will also guest-star.

Drop Dead Diva: Scoop on Kim Kardashian's guest arc from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Drop Dead Diva from this week's (Posted on 6/5/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any chance you might be able to dig up some Drop Dead Diva scoop? —Samantha
Ausiello: Kim Kardashian won’t be stirring up trouble for Fred and Stacy when the angel eventually returns. (And he will return.) EP Josh Berman assures us that rumors that the reality starlet would be playing a love interest for the heavenly fellow was just that — a rumor. “That’s not how we chose to write the character,” he explains. “She would not have been the actor that we would have used to come between [them].”

Drop Dead Diva: Season 4 Preview Josh Berman-TVLine

Here's an interview that that the creator of Drop Dead Diva, Josh Berman, did with TVLine's Vlada Gelman, which gives a preview of season 4. In the interview, Berman talks about Jane's love life in season 4, Ben Feldman's future with the show, Fred and Stacy's relationship, and he also talks about Kim Kardashian guest-arc. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some scoop on Jane's love life in season 4:

TVLINE | Romantically speaking, Jane was left in an interesting place in last season’s finale. Where is her love life headed?
As much as was going on in the end of that episode, that’s how much is going to be going on in the beginning of Season 4. We start with Jane in Italy with Owen, and we see what their vacation has been like. And then we also go back to Grayson, who’s been pining over Jane.

TVLINE | So there’s a bit of a role reversal between Grayson and Jane.
Totally. For three seasons, Jane has been pining over Grayson, and now Grayson has some real feelings for Jane. The question that we ask of these characters — and I think the viewers are going to ask as well — is, does Grayson fall in love with Jane because she’s Jane or because he thinks she’s Deb? That’s a real important distinction that we’re going to explore in Season 4.

TVLINE | Stacy told Grayson, “Jane is Deb.” What is he making of that sentence? And how close will he get to figuring things out?
He’s taking that pretty literally. We play that out over the fist couple of episodes. I don’t want to give away too much. But the first three episodes, he gets closer and closer. The cliffhanger of the season opener is just as good as our season finale cliffhanger.

TVLINE | Lex Medlin, who plays Owen, is a series regular now. What does that mean for his relationship with Jane?
Their relationship has some real twists and turns. We’re going to learn some things about Owen that I don’t think anyone saw coming. That’s going to throw Jane for a loop. It’s funny, because on the set, people are divided between Team Owen and Team Grayson. I’ll be curious to see if the fans are more Team Owen or Team Grayson. There’ll be some real resolution there [with the love triangle]. It’ll be a very satisfying season.

TVLINE | When I talked to Brooke Elliott, she teased a proposal.
I can promise you that in the first half of Season 4, there will be a very big proposal. There’s a romantic proposal in the first six episodes. It’s a game-changer for the show.

Kim Kardashian Cast on ABC's Last Man Standing-TVLine

Kim Kardashian is keeping company with a new Man.

The ubiquitous, newly single celebutante has booked a guest stint on ABC’s Last Man Standing, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.

Naturally, Kardashian will be playing herself.

According to a Last Man insider, the plot finds Mandy — a.k.a. the reality-obsessed middle daughter of Tim Allen’s Mike — losing her you-know-what when she runs into her idol.

The episode, which is slated to air in February, marks Kardashian’s second sitcom appearance, having previously also played herself (in a daydream of Marshall’s) on How I Met Your Mother. She also has guest-starred on CSI: NY.

Want to Know What Kim Kardashian Smells Like? Just Ask Rob Lowe! - E! Online

Rob Lowe, Park and Recreation

When Kim Kardashian's wedding (you heard of it?) descended on the Santa Barbara area over the weekend, one resident was decidedly unimpressed: Rob Lowe, who tweeted that it looked like a scene out of Apocalypse Now.

"It's your fault!" Rob playfully jabbed when we met up with him at the Valspar Hands for Habitat charity event. "You ruined my neighborhood!"

Whoops. Our bad.

You fellow Parks and Recreation fans know Rob is all kinds of funny, which is why we love his response when asked what this napalm-less version of Apocalypse smelled like:

"Kim's perfume."

He wants us to know that yes, "there were about as many helicopters in my neighborhood as there was in Apocalypse Now." His sons also got a chance to run into Justin Bieber: "My kids saw the Biebs. They were really happy to see the Biebs. And I was like, I like that. It made everyone's day in sleepy little Santa Barbara."

Making Rob's day, no year, is the fact that Parks and Recreation has been nominated for an Outstanding Comedy Emmy, and he nods in agreement when we say P&R has eclipsed The Office and 30 Rock as the funniest show on television.

"Humbly, I think we deserve [the Emmy nomination]. I think it's the funniest show on TV. I really really do. We are four episodes into the new year. I'm sad to say my character is even more insane than he was last year. [Laughs.] I think people are going to dig it."

Rob also admits he wasn't quite sure how the fans would take to him as a new addition to the cast. "[Adam Scott and I] were worried about that because Parks and Rec has always had true, loyal die-hard fans. And any time you bring people in you never know how they are going to react. I think the writers did a really good job of it, creating a character that is unique—unlike any other character on television. And then to have me be able to play that was special I think for everybody, especially for me."

For the record, Rob also doesn't smell half-bad. Then again, maybe it was the lingering scent of Eau de Biebs-dashian.
