Here's some scoop on Nurse Jackie from this week's (Posted on 1/23/15) Matt's Inside Line column.

Do you have anything about Nurse Jackie‘s final season? Anything at all? –Stephanie
Be careful what you wish for, because showrunner Clyde Phillips is not a “happy endings” kind of guy. “No, I’m a believer in authentic endings,” he says, “and I think that the end of this season is as authentic as it can possibly be and will be really satisfying to the viewers.” Showtime boss David Nevins meanwhile describes the series finale as “a really appropriate ending. It’s funny, it’s frustrating, it’s emotional — all the things that Jackie is. There are a lot of complicated feelings at the end. I will say that I cried.”

Shania: Obviously I was bummed to hear about Dr. Coop leaving Nurse Jackie, but will he at least be around this season?
Yes, there will be no shortage of Dr. Cooper. And we finally get to watch our good ol' Coop grow the hell up! You'll see what we mean soon enough.

Nurse Jackie: Jackie related scoop on season 6 from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Nurse Jackie from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 4/11/14.

Alyssa: Nurse Jackie starts soon, so you'd better spill!
This season might as well be called: The S--t Has Hit the Fan. Get ready for a slow burn as basically everything Jackie has worked for falls to pieces. Usually you are on Jackie's side, but this year, you'll find yourself swearing at her again and again for making really, really stupid decisions. You thought no one would be spared her wrath? Think again. And of course, she's up to her old tricks to hide her drug habit, with the most masterful one involving a dying nun. Yeah, you read that right.

Nurse Jackie: Scoop on Coop's love life in season 6 from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Nurse Jackie from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 11/20/13.

Porsha: Because you guys are my only source for Nurse Jackie spoilers: what's going on with Coop, aka the best character on the show?
Whoa! Bold statement. Although we do agree that Peter Facinelli is freakin' fantastic and deserves much more recognition. But we digress. Coop will be rocking it in the love department by getting serious with a certain lady that works at the hospital. And by "rocking it", we mean eventually she'll agree to be exclusive with him. But the road to that is a long and winding one, probably with lots of boob-grabbing along the way.

Nurse Jackie: Scoop on Jackie's relapse and attempt to get sober again in season 6 from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Nurse Jackie from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 11/4/13.

Joanna: Loving all the Nurse Jackie spoilers you guys are posting. Got any more?
So far it's been nothing but back to popping pills for Jackie in the new season, but we just stumbled upon a bit of info that reveals that our favorite nurse will once again try and turn her life around. Jackie, realizing her life is going great and is sick of messing things up over her drug habit, will try the sober thing again, and this time she's calling for reinforcements. That means having heart-to-hearts with ex-boyfriend Eddie, which hopefully doesn't turn into something more since we think Jackie and Frank are perfect together!

Nurse Jackie: Grace related scoop on season 6 from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Nurse Jackie from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 10/25/13.

Wesley: I need more Nurse Jackie info. Is Grace still going to be the worst?
Yes, she will still be just the worst in the new season. In fact, she should be best friends with Dana "The Worst" Brody on Homeland. The reason Grace continues to be—say it with us, the worst, is because she is having trouble dealing with the way her family is changing. How is it changing? Well, we can't reveal that quite yet but safe to say it's a doozy. So Grace will continue to act out. Yes, her mom is a drug addict and her family fell apart due to that and infidelity but that doesn't give her reason to be so angsty. Wait, maybe it does…

Yaz: My lovely ladies who always give the best Nurse Jackie scoop, I need more!
We prefer to be called stunning instead of lovely, but we'll let it slide this time. This season on Nurse Jackie, someone is getting engaged! No, we're not telling you who it is, but we can you tell that this person has a close connection with Jackie. OK, that's pretty much everyone on the show, so how about we eliminate one person? It's not Thor, although we do wish that big lug finds love soon!

Yes, sweet Frank is still around and dating Jackie, but if you think he knows about her relapse, you're out of your mind. But maybe a new addition to their family will help her get sober again?! No, not a baby. This new addition is fluffier than a baby.

Actually, yes. Jackie is still going to support groups, but that's not what will help her. She'll meet someone just like her—you know, no-BS, tells it like it is, etc., and this woman might be just the person she needs to pull her out of her drug spiral. Here's hoping.

Er, do you want us to tell you she's sober or do you want us to tell you the truth? Because the truth is that the little pill Jackie took before her one-year sober party at NA will not be the last. In fact, it's safe to say she's back in full using swing when the show returns for season six. New Girl: It’s Cece’s wedding day, but will she get married? (My thoughts on episode 2x25 “Elaine’s Big Day”)

It’s hard to believe that this was the season finale, mainly because I feel like the season really flew by, but I say that in a good way. Now that season two has ended, I can definitely say that I love season two even more than I loved season one, which is something that I’ve been thinking for quite a while now. This episode was the perfect way to end what I think was an absolutely amazing season.

If the previous episode didn’t make me absolutely hate Jess’ dad, Bob, this episode definitely did. Thankfully, he was barely in it. At the beginning of the episode Jess, Nick, Schmidt and Winston were getting ready to go to Cece’s wedding, and Jess wanted her dad to take a picture of them. Bob very quickly tried to kick Nick out of the picture by telling him to move further and further out of the camera frame until he left the apartment. This quickly led to Jess, Nick, Schmidt and Winston fighting with each other before everybody but Jess stormed off. Once everybody else had left, Bob took a picture of Jess, and I have to say that I love the way Zooey Deschanel posed and smiled for the picture. I thought it was cute, and it definitely made me chuckle.

That being said, even if Bob doesn’t really like Nick all that much, I don’t think that gives him the right to be as rude to Nick as he was in both that scene and the previous episode. After all, he’s not just staying in Jess’ apartment, Nick, Schmidt and Winston live there too, so I think he should at least act polite towards each of them since he’s a guest in their home. Besides, it wasn’t just this episode that he acted rude to the guys. I also thought he was being pretty rude to Winston in the previous episode, calling him “Wilson” and making him feel guilty about eating the birthday cake that he had bought for himself. If I were Nick, Winston or Schmidt, I would definitely have told Bob to take a hike if he was going to act as rude as he was being.

This episode once again reinforced my belief that both the writers and Lamorne Morris have really found their grove the character Winston after having him come across as being rather forgettable in season one. If you ask me, this episode was probably Lamorne’s best performance yet on the show. After Schmidt accidentally walked in on Cece getting ready for the wedding when he was trying to find the men’s restroom, he came to the conclusion that Cece wanted to get out of her wedding to Shivrang. He was repeatedly insisting the Cece had told him this with her eyes. This prompted him to team up with Winston to play a series of pranks designed to sabotage Cece’s wedding. Naturally, since it has already been well established that Winston is terrible at playing pranks, this led to a series of disasters.

New Girl Season 3 Scoop: Boss Talks Nick and Jess' Relationship, a Possible Time Jump and...a Trip to Mexico?! | E! Online

New Girl

Here's an interview that executive producer Brett Baer did with E! Online's Tierney Bricker about the season 2 finale of New Girl. In the interview, Baer talks about how the writers chose to approach writing the relationship between Jess and Nick throughout the season. Baer also talks why the writers decided to have Cece call off her wedding to Shivrang, as well as the decision to have the season finale cliffhanger revolve around the Cece-Schmidt-Elizabeth love triangle and the possibility of Merritt Wever returning for season 3. He also hints at a possible time jump for season 3. Here's an excerpt from the interview:

Why did you guys ulimately decide to have Cece call off the wedding?
I think for us the most exciting thing that we had in the Schmidt-Cece realm toward the end of the season was the addition of Elizabeth into Schmidt's life. We loved how that was dimensionalizing Schmidt—and there's nothing funnier than watching Max Greenfield scramble out of a corner like he's trapped like an animal. So we knew getting him into a situation where he was going to be up against it and having this incredibly tough choice to make. We love the notion of him having to be put on the spot at the end of the season and leaving the cliffhanger of the season on Schmidt instead of Nick and Jess.

We thought the audience would expect Nick and Jess to be in a more cliffhanger-y kind of place, but in a weird way for Nick and Jess it was more satisfying and opened up more possibility that'd we'd actually had them ride off into the sunset together going ‘Now what?' So for Schmidt and Cece, and what we loved about Merritt joining the show was she was bringing out this new color in his character and spinning him in a way that I think audiences are really responding to, and it seemed interesting to put the Cece relationship on his back and say, ‘OK, you have two very legitimate choices here, two people you care a lot about, now what do you do?' And have this guy stand up at some point in the third season and make a decision or try and figure out how to rectify this.

We have to say we really love Merritt Wever as Elizabeth, but she's a regular on Nurse Jackie, which has yet to be picked up for another season. Will she definitely be returning in season three?
She's such a gifted actress. The honest to God's truth is even today we're sending e-mails around. The fact is we think she's terrific and she's been an amazing addition to the show. We love her and I think audiences are enjoying what she's doing on the show. She's such a great addition and in any world where we can make that happen, that's what we want. Obviously there's a little bit of a scheduling issue. We're not sure what's happening with Nurse Jackie right now or what her responsibilities are going to be there, but in any world in which we can bring Elizabeth back to the show we would in a heartbeat. We love her.

My thoughts: I was definitely very surprised that the writers decided to have the season ending cliffhanger revolve around Schmidt, Cece and Elizabeth instead of having it revolve around the Jess and Nick storyline. I wasn't expecting that at all. I personally love what Brett Baer said about the relationship between Schmidt and Elizabeth, because that's pretty much exactly why I love their relationship so much. I love the different side that Elizabeth brings out in Schmidt, and I really hope that Merritt Wever returns for season 3. As for the way things ended between Jess and Nick in the season finale, I couldn't be happier, and I can't wait for season 3 to start, so I can see what happens next with Jess and Nick. I'll talk about my thoughts on the season 2 finale in more detail when I write my review for the season finale though.

New Girl: Nick, whatever you do, don’t tell Jess’ dad that you slept with Jess! (My thoughts on episode 2x24 “Winston’s Birthday (Part 1)”)

Given the way the previous episode ended with Jess and Nick sleeping together, I definitely had big expectations for this episode, and both the writers and the cast definitely exceeded my expectations. Elizabeth Meriwether had previously said that the last three episodes of the season would cover the events of one day leading up to Cece’s wedding in the season two finale (New Girl: Jess, Nick and Cece related scoop), and I have to say that I really like that the writers did that so the viewers can see everything that led up to Jess and Nick sleeping together, as well as the immediate aftermath of them sleeping together for the first time. I also think that also helps the other storylines that are going on as well, namely Cece’s upcoming wedding to Shivrang.

After working several different odd jobs and teaching a creative writing class to adults throughout the season, Jess was finally offered a job teaching kids. They apparently wanted her to get to the school right away so she could talk to the principal of the school and sub for a class, which was disaster, mostly because the kids were completely out of control.

That being said, the whole scenario of the principal wanting Jess to come to the school immediately because they wanted to talk to her, and they also needed a sub felt a bit ridiculous to me. They didn’t tell her anything about the class that she would be subbing for, such as what the kids were studying or show her the teacher’s lesson plans, they basically took her to the classroom and left her to fend for herself, which didn’t seem to go very well. Jess tried to tell them that she was supposed to spend the day helping a friend get ready for their wedding, but they basically ignored what she was saying and strong-armed her into subbing for a class. As weird as the whole scenario with Jess being offered the job and the school completely putting her on the spot to start teaching immediately, it was definitely great to see Jess teaching kids again.

On top of being put on the spot by the school’s staff, Jess was also having to deal with the fact that her dad, Bob, came to town rather unexpectedly for Cece’s wedding, while also trying to help Cece deal with the fact that she accidentally got an Indian tattoo that had originally been drawn on her hand for the wedding got smeared on her face and wouldn’t come off after she fell asleep on her hand. To me, both of those storylines essentially felt like they were primarily meant to serve as obstacles that kept Jess and Nick from being able to talk about the fact that they had slept together.

With Jess preoccupied with trying to sub for a class at the school that was offering her a job, while also trying to help Cece deal with her tattoo, Nick was forced to spend the day with Bob. Jess had specifically told Nick not to tell her dad that they had slept together, and Nick initially tried to dodge Bob’s questions about his love life by telling him that he was interested in a girl named Yolanda Winston and he described “Yolanda Winston” as being the exact opposite of Jess, but of course Nick ended up telling Bob that he’s interested in Jess after he mistakenly came to the conclusion that Bob would be happy about this news.

New Girl: Schmidt and Elizabeth related scoop from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on New Girl from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat for Thursday 5/2/13.

Sarah: Schmidt and Cece are totally going to end the season together on New Girl, right?!
Hmm…we don't know about that considering Schmidt's ex Elizabeth seems to be making a permanent return to his life! "We were really happy with her and that's a big part of the finale, their relationship and where that ends up. She's just so great and so funny in such a real, emotional way," Liz Meriwether explains of Elizabeth and Schmidt's connection. "I love them together. I love what she does to Schmidt. She brings out this other side of him. I definitely think she's going to continue to be in his life." Translation: Watch out, Cece!

Nurse Jackie: Scoop on Jackie and Frank's relationship from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Nurse Jackie from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat for Wednesday 5/1/13.

Lola: For Nurse Jackie: will she stay together with Frank?
Frank and Jackie's relationship develops quite nicely, despite her dysfunctional situations in the past with men. Dare we even say that Frank will make her…happy? One of our favorite scenes of the entire season is in an upcoming episode, where Jackie finally realizes in the middle of a very intense situation just how much she cares for Frank.

Nurse Jackie: Scoop on the future of Jackie's love life and more from Zap2it's Carina Adly MacKenzie

Here's some scoop on Nurse Jackie from Carina Adly MacKenzie's Monday Kickstart column for the week of 4/22/13.

"Nurse Jackie": Jackie as patient? Our favorite nurse finds herself on the other side of the hospital bed when she'd admitted to All Saints after an accident -- and she handles all the poking and prodding just as well as you'd expect. It's not all bad for Jackie though, as the situation introduces her to a new potential love. Look out for her to go on her first post-divorce date by the end of the episode.

Nurse Jackie: Coop and Dr. Carrie Roman related scoop from Zap2it's Carina Adly MacKenzie

Here's some scoop on Nurse Jackie from Carina Adly MacKenzie's Monday Kickstart column for the week of 4/15/13.

"Nurse Jackie": We've already seen that new resident Dr. Carrie Roman isn't shy about having sex in public places, but one of her upcoming partners could surprise you. She and Coop start hooking up on a regular basis, and there's even a sex tape involved (but it's not exactly what you would expect in a post-Kim Kardashian era).

New Girl: Good news, Everybody! Jess and Nick are going out on a date! Yay! (My thoughts on episode 2x21 “First Date”)

Let me start off by saying that as I’ve reflected on this episode in preparation for writing this review, I had a really hard time deciding exactly how I feel about it, which is one of the reasons why I’m several days late on posting this review. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this episode as I was watching it; it’s just that the way this episode ended was a major let down to a certain extent, and I also have several other issues with this episode that I’ll address later in this review.

While the writers took a break from focusing heavily on the post-kiss drama between Jess and Nick in the previous episode, they went back to focusing very heavily on the aftermath of their kiss in this episode, especially when it comes to the awkwardness that their first kiss as well as their subsequent make out sessions has created between them.

Personally, I found the whole thing with Nick randomly putting his hand on Jess’ breasts at several different points throughout the episode rather funny. It reminded me a lot of the character Dr. Fitch Cooper on Nurse Jackie and the whole thing with his sexual Tourette’s where he will randomly grab women’s breasts. For the record, Cooper is one of my favorite characters on Nurse Jackie, which is a part of why I thought Nick doing that in this episode was so funny, but I digress.

The more that I think about this episode, the more I realize just how mixed my thoughts on this episode are. On the one hand, this episode had a lot of funny moments throughout it, especially between Jess and Nick. However, at the same time the way things ended between Jess and Nick at the end of this episode is the main thing that makes my reaction to the episode so mixed. One thing that I find myself thinking about a lot is how poorly the ending of this episode was handled compared to the endings of the episodes “Cooler”, “Marriage” and “Quick Hardening Caulk” and how great the buildup to the end of the Jess and Nick’s storylines in those storylines were handled. With this episode, it kind of felt like the writers were trying to build up to some big moment, but once Russell looked at what Jess and Nick had written on the cards when he asked them what they thought their relationship was, I feel like this episode really collapsed.

Another issue that I have with this episode is that I don’t think the episode had a very good flow to it. If there’s one thing that I think really hurt the flow of this episode aside from the way the episode ended, I think it would be the whole thing about Jess and Nick repeatedly flip-flopping about whether or not they were on a date. Towards the start of the episode, Nick pretty much decided that he was going to ask Jess out on a date when he was talking to Tran (The silent old Asian man from the episode “Menzies”) in the park and he even practiced asking Jess out with him, and what he was planning to say to Jess was actually pretty sweet, especially for Nick. However, the writers immediately followed up the scene between Nick and Tran with Nick going to ask Jess out on a date, only to end up coming across as a total idiot, making Jess think that he was only asking her if she wanted to hang out as friends.
