In tonight's episode, Danny ends up getting a little close to someone who is definitely not Mindy. BUT before you riot, he does NOT cheat on her. Alas, there is something you will definitely hold against him after watching the episode: He doesn't know who Taylor Swift is. Cue gasps!

New Girl: It’s Cece’s wedding day, but will she get married? (My thoughts on episode 2x25 “Elaine’s Big Day”)

It’s hard to believe that this was the season finale, mainly because I feel like the season really flew by, but I say that in a good way. Now that season two has ended, I can definitely say that I love season two even more than I loved season one, which is something that I’ve been thinking for quite a while now. This episode was the perfect way to end what I think was an absolutely amazing season.

If the previous episode didn’t make me absolutely hate Jess’ dad, Bob, this episode definitely did. Thankfully, he was barely in it. At the beginning of the episode Jess, Nick, Schmidt and Winston were getting ready to go to Cece’s wedding, and Jess wanted her dad to take a picture of them. Bob very quickly tried to kick Nick out of the picture by telling him to move further and further out of the camera frame until he left the apartment. This quickly led to Jess, Nick, Schmidt and Winston fighting with each other before everybody but Jess stormed off. Once everybody else had left, Bob took a picture of Jess, and I have to say that I love the way Zooey Deschanel posed and smiled for the picture. I thought it was cute, and it definitely made me chuckle.

That being said, even if Bob doesn’t really like Nick all that much, I don’t think that gives him the right to be as rude to Nick as he was in both that scene and the previous episode. After all, he’s not just staying in Jess’ apartment, Nick, Schmidt and Winston live there too, so I think he should at least act polite towards each of them since he’s a guest in their home. Besides, it wasn’t just this episode that he acted rude to the guys. I also thought he was being pretty rude to Winston in the previous episode, calling him “Wilson” and making him feel guilty about eating the birthday cake that he had bought for himself. If I were Nick, Winston or Schmidt, I would definitely have told Bob to take a hike if he was going to act as rude as he was being.

This episode once again reinforced my belief that both the writers and Lamorne Morris have really found their grove the character Winston after having him come across as being rather forgettable in season one. If you ask me, this episode was probably Lamorne’s best performance yet on the show. After Schmidt accidentally walked in on Cece getting ready for the wedding when he was trying to find the men’s restroom, he came to the conclusion that Cece wanted to get out of her wedding to Shivrang. He was repeatedly insisting the Cece had told him this with her eyes. This prompted him to team up with Winston to play a series of pranks designed to sabotage Cece’s wedding. Naturally, since it has already been well established that Winston is terrible at playing pranks, this led to a series of disasters.

Here's some scoop on the season 2 finale of New Girl, episode 2x25 "Elaine's Big Day (Part 2)", from Zap2it's Laurel Brown.

1. Taylor Swift is indeed in "Elaine's Big Day," and she does have a speaking part. What she says and why she is there, however, must remain a mystery until the wedding itself.

2. Remember how Winston (Lamorne Morris) loves pranks but is incredibly bad at them (often with near-tragic consequences)? That comes into play in a big way in the finale. A badger gets involved.

3. Jess' (Zooey Deschanel) father, Bob (Rob Reiner), is still sleeping on that air mattress between Nick's (Jake Johnson) and Jess' rooms. He has trouble standing up when lying on it.

4. You may never experience the song, "Cotton Eyed Joe," the same way after this.

5. The traditional Indian wedding that Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha) opt for takes three hours to complete. This leaves plenty of time for antics, side-romances and second thoughts.

New Girl: Episode 2x25 "Elaine's Big Day" Promo (HD) (Season Finale) ft. Taylor Swift

Here's a promo for next week's season 2 finale, episode 2x25 "Elaine's Big Day". It looks like this is going to be another hilarious episode, but I hate that we'll have to wait until the fall for new episodes after next week. This season has been amazing. :)

Just that everyone that works on the show is even more obsessed with her than they already were! "She's a fantastic actress. She did such a good job," creator Liz Meriwether gushes. "Our set is a fun set to come to, but it's also a little bit crazy because there's a lot of improv and people shouting out extra jokes and she completely held her own and did such a great job with it."  And don't expect to hear any of her music in the finale, as Meriwether says that would have been "a little bit too on the nose" for the show.

(It has to do be with lube. A lot of it.) "It was f—king aggressive! We just went for it," Greenfield teases.

New Girl: Taylor Swift to guest-star in the season 2 finale | Inside TV | EW.com

According to  Entertainment Weekly's Dan Snierson, Taylor Swift will be guest-starring in the season 2 finale of New Girl. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Swift's appearance in the season finale:

Taylor Swift is guest-starring in the May 14 episode of the Fox comedy, EW has learned. The country pop star will play a character named Elaine, who is an “important guest” at the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha).


The singer-songwriter and  New Girl fan has been name-checked multiple times on the show this season: In one episode, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) sent Cece a text in which he said he was going through a “Taylor Swift-like range of emotions,” while in another, Nick (Jake Johnson) tried to cheer up a heartbroken Jess (Zooey Deschanel) with unfortunate dance moves while she moaned, “I just wanted to listen to Taylor Swift alone,” and “22″ played in the background.

Swift, who has hosted Saturday Night Live, guest-starred in an episode of CSI and appeared in the romantic comedy film Valentine’s Day, will be on set next week to shoot her part.

My thoughts: I for one think that it's really cool that Taylor Swift will be guest-starring in the season 2 finale of New Girl, especially considering the fact that they've made references to Taylor Swift on several occasions. Personally, I don't think that she's the best actress in the world, but she's definitely not the worst actress that I've ever seen either. I did think that she was kind of funny in the movie Valentine's Day. However, I didn't really care for Taylor Swift's acting when she hosted Saturday Night Live.

Honestly, I'm always a little leery when singers try to get into acting, because sometimes I think singers should just stick to singing and not try to pursue an acting career. The one singer who has surprised me the most when it comes to being a good actor is definitely Justin Timberlake. I've always been amazed at how great Justin Timberlake is whenever he appears on Saturday Night Live in some capacity, but I digress. While I'm not the hugest fan of Taylor Swift's acting, I do think it's very fitting that Taylor Swift will be guest-starring in the season 2 finale since she has mentioned on New Girl several times in the past. Plus, I do like her music.

New Girl: Sorry, Nick, you can’t “panic moon walk” your way out of this mess (My thoughts on episode 2x16 “Table 34”)

After the fantastic episode “Cooler” both the writers and the cast have once again outdone themselves with this episode. In my humble opinion, this episode was an excellent follow-up to the previous episode, and there’s definitely a lot to love about it.

For starters, I’m really glad that this episode picked up pretty much right where “Cooler” ended so the viewers could see the immediate aftermath of Jess and Nick’s kiss. The episode began with Nick lying in bed freaking out about the fact that he had just kissed Jess, while Jess was just lying in bed in a state of shock. The next morning Jess was still in shock over Nick kissing her and was unsure of how to tell Sam about it. Sam was being really cute, saying that she always looked so beautiful in the morning that he couldn’t even look at her. Jess tried to confront Nick about the fact that he had kissed her, but he simply “panic moon walked” away from her, because he apparently has a habit of doing that in situations in which he feels uncomfortable. The writers even did a cutaway of several other situations where he has done that. Personally, I thought the whole running joke throughout the episode about Nick’s habit of panic moon walking out of uncomfortable situations was hilarious.

Still unsure of what to do about the situation, Jess sought refuge at Cece’s apartment where she vented to Cece. Jess told her that she was mad that Nick kissed her because he breaks things that are just fine, while Sam fixes things. In order to illustrate Nick’s tendency to ruin things, they showed a cutaway where Nick was pulling apart something that Jess was knitting for her grandma until he pretty much completely ruined it. The fact that the writers do cutaways on the show in order to illustrate something that the characters are talking about is something that I’ve always loved about the writing for New Girl. It also reminds me a lot of the show Family Guy, which is something that I’ve both loved and found annoying at times when Family Guy does cutaways. Personally, I think the writers for New Girl handle that technique perfectly in the sense that they are short and always help enhance what’s going on in the scene. With Family Guy, sometimes I’ve found the cutaways to be more annoying than they are funny in the more recent seasons. At times I feel like the writers simply do cutaways now because they’ve always done them, and that they aren’t doing them in a way that enhances the episode, especially when they just drag on a bit too long, but I digress.

Jess wanted to spend the day with Cece, but she had plans to go to an Indian marriage convention, so Jess went with her to the convention. I have to say that I’m still not sure what I think about this whole arranged marriage storyline with Cece. It just seems like a pretty weird plot device to keep Schmidt and Cece apart, and I still have very mixed feelings about it. It’s had some pretty funny moments, but for the most part I’m ready for the writers to move on from that storyline.
