Ben and Kate: Scoop on Geoff Stults' role from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Ben and Kate from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat Daily for Friday 9/28/12.

Jennifer in Denver: The Ben and Kate premiere was hilarious! Is it true that the very hot Geoff Stults will soon be guest starring?
It is indeed! The Finder alum is joining Fox's promising new comedy in a recurring role as a single dad who becomes a love interest for single-mom Kate. But not everybody will be thrilled for the new couple, according to Nat Faxon, who plays Kate's bro, Ben. "He's a protective older brother," Faxon explains. "Ben wants what any brother would, which is to make sure that his sister is in good hands and that the guy's not gonna screw her over. [So] he's making sure the guy checks out. I appreciate that because it feels very true, very real." Look for Stults to make his first appearance in Ben and Kate's Halloween episode, which airs Oct. 30.

Bones: Scoop on the 150th episode and more from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Bones from this week's (Posted on 6/5/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Will Bones be doing anything special for its 150th episode next season? —Patti
Ausiello: I have no idea — those are Hart Hanson’s words, not mine. “We’ll do something fun,” the EP assures of the landmark hour, which will likely air at midseason. “But I haven’t thought that far ahead.”

Question: Any chance some of the Finder cast might land on Bones next season? —Joel
Ausiello: Don’t think the thought hasn’t crossed the mind of the man in charge of both shows. “I would love that so much,” says Hanson. “But you would have to make sure it wasn’t self-indulgent. And I don’t have a sense right now how much the Bones audience would like to see that. And I don’t know if the Finder audience would want it to happen. But I personally think it would be great.” Hanson concedes that he’s still “exceedingly depressed” about The Finder‘s cancellation, confessing, “It’s hard to let go.” He also says that after some “initial weariness,” the Bones cast warmed up to “the Finder upstarts,” adding, “They all became very fond of each other. David [Boreanaz] really liked working with Geoff [Stults]. They got along terrifically well, so it would be fun to have them on [Bones].”

The Finder: Scoop from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Finder from this week's (Posted on 4/3/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Love your column, thanks for keeping us all entertained! What I’m confused about is why no one is talking about The Finder? Great writing, all the procedural stuff without the heaviness, and don’t get me started on the eye candy! —Julie
Ausiello: You make a strong case, Jules. You’re timing is actually perfect because the Bones spinoff moves into its new Friday death perch this week with an episode that, ahem, finds Walter enlisting young Willa to help him cyberhack a DJ while Leo is off reconnecting with an old flame (played by Eureka‘s Salli Richardson-Whitfield). You’ll also see 50 Cent playing a gun-toting, angry music producer and Walter channeling his inner white rapper.

The Finder: Episode 1x07 "Eye of the Storm" Promo

Here's the promo for the next episode, episode 1x07 "Eye of the Storm". I haven't watched this show yet, but I really want to see it. It looks good. :)

The Finder: Scoop on tonight's episode from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on The Finder from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 2/23/12.

The Finder | Tonight on the Bones spin-off, young Willa gets a visit from her Uncle Shad (played by guest star Eric Roberts), and it is very much not “happy to see me.” As Maddie Hasson explains, “She doesn’t like him very much — and something definitely happened between them to make her have an aversion to him.” Not helping the sitch is Shad’s determination to lure Willa away from Miami and back into a life of thievery. That’s easier said than done, however. “She wants so badly to rebel from him because she is finding this life here with Leo and Walter, and finding how great it can be to have someone care about you,” says Hasson.”I think she resents [her uncle] for never giving that to her.”

The Finder First Look: Check Out the Official Poster For Fox's Bones Spinoff - TVLine

Is Geoff Stults’ professional locator Walter Sherman in way over his head? Or is he looking for someone’s missing pet shark? Or are we reading way to much into the following key art for Fox’s upcoming Bones offshoot, The Finder?

On the surface at least, the poster conveys all the key message points about the procedural: the setting is tropical, it shares DNA with Bones, and it centers around “a different kind of detective” — in this case, a brain damaged Iraq war vet who possesses a unique ability: he can find almost anything for anybody.

Oh, and most importantly, it premieres Thursday, Jan. 12 at 9/8c.

Fox Bumps Bones' Fall Finale To January-TVLine

Fox is cutting short Bones‘ already-abbreviated fall run.

The network has decided to move the show’s Dec. 15 midseason finale to Jan. 12, where it will lead into the premiere of new spinoff, The Finder.

While the scheduling move is sure to rankle fans already feeling cheated by the lack of Bones this season, from Fox’s perspective, it’s a bit of a no-brainer. A Bones lead-in all but guarantees The Finder will get a decent sampling its first week out.

After its special mid-January broadcast, Bones will head back to hiatusland until spring.

Reaction? I’m guessing it’ll fall somewhere between boo and hiss.

The Finder Casts Eric Roberts and T.J. Thyne for Season 1, Episode 9-TVLine

Looks like T.J. Thyne will have some interesting company — and an unusual mission — when he pops up on an episode of Fox’s Bones spinoff The Finder early next year.

Eric Roberts has been cast in Episode 9 as Uncle Shadrack, the revered head of a gypsy family to which Willa (series regular Maddie Hasson) happens to belong — and will attempt to prove her worth.

Meanwhile, Thyne’s Dr. Jack Hodgins will come to Geoff Stults’ Walter for help in finding “an object that no one in the government believes to exist,” according to a show source.

The Finder will air Thursdays at 9/8c beginning in January.

The Finder Casts Salli Richardson-Whitfield in Season 1-TVLine

The Finder has located an attorney for 50 Cent.

The Bones spinoff has cast Eureka‘s Salli Richardson-Whitfield as Athena Brooks, the lawyer representing the music mogul played by special guest star 50 Cent.

As TVLine reported on Thursday, the actor-rapper-entrepreneur will appear in a February episode as Big Glade, a successful, intimidating hip-hop bigwig who is desperate to find the lost tracks of a deceased rap artist on his music label.

Whitfield’s character — who shares a past with Michael Clarke Duncan’s Leo — is responsible for hooking Big Glade up with professional finder Walter (Geoff Stults).

Fun Fact No. 1: This isn’t Whitfield’s first brush with the Bones-verse. Back in 2006, she guest-starred on the mothership as Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Kurland.

Fun Fact No. 2: Kim Kurland is the name of Bones‘ longtime publicist.

The Finder Casts 50 Cent in Season 1-TVLine

The Finder has procured a pretty money guest star.

The Bones spinoff has tapped 50 Cent to appear in a winter episode directed by David Boreanaz, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The actor-rapper-entrepreneur will play Big Glade, a successful, intimidating hip-hop mogul who is desperate to find the lost tracks of a deceased rap artist on his music label.

He enlists the help of Walter (Geoff Stults) to find the missing property before it’s leaked and he loses millions in revenue. The dark twist? Walter quickly discovers that Big Glade will stop at nothing to get the material back.

The Finder will air Thursdays at 9/8c beginning in January. The Boreanaz-helmed 50 Cent episode is slated to air in February.

This marks an extremely rare TV detour for 50 Cent, whose acting work has been mostly concentrated on the big screen.

Bones Boss: The 'Bonus' Episodes Are a 'Real Pickle' for Us! Plus Scoop on Baby B's Nanny-TVLine

Bones executive producers Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan are as in the dark as most anyone about the four “bonus” episodes that will somehow be added onto (or into) Season 7, which was abbreviated by series lead Emily Deschanel’s pregnancy and will premiere next Thursday, Nov. 3.

“They do want to do ultimately 17 episodes, and how it airs is up to Fox,” Nathan told TVLine during a Wednesday conference call with reporters. “They could air before what we consider to be our last episode even. We have no idea.”

Yes, you read right: Though at one point speculated to possibly air as a “mini season” during summer 2012, Nathan and Hanson say the four episodes instead could be sprinkled throughout the originally commissioned 13, meaning they would likely have to be standalone hours. And that could prove problematic.

“It’s a real pickle for us because we don’t quite know where to place these four stories in our universe,” Hanson told me. For example, “If they air all in a row, it’d be odd because they would not contain any meaningful character arcs.”

Hanson says he is “hoping” that after Season 7 gets underway, Fox higher-ups will afford more clarity on how and where the four bonus episodes will land.

Hanson and Nathan also shared during the conference call some teasey quotes on the following topics:

MORE CROSSOVERS WITH THE FINDER | In addition to the previously announced episode in which John Francis Daley’s Sweets travels to Florida to perform an FBI psych eval on the spin-off’s titular character, Walter (played by Geoff Stults), Hanson says they are also closing in on an episode in which Hodgins (played by T.J. Thyne) heads south to rigorously bat around conspiracy theories with Walter. “We’re also looking to see if there’s a place for Stephen Fry to appear in a Finder episode, as Gordon Gordon Wyatt,” Hanson shared. (The Finder‘s freshman run will air during Bones‘ maternity leave hiatus, which begins after Episode 6.)

BEST. EPISODE. EVER? | Echoing that which TVLine previously reported, the Season 7 hour involving Booth, his grandfather (played by Ralph Waite) and by extension Booth’s father, “is maybe one of the best episodes of Bones ever,” said Hanson. “It’s certainly an amazing performance by David Boreanaz that I’m dying for everyone to see.”

WHO’S THE NANNY? | Hmm, good question — who will mind the Booth/Brennan baby after the little one enters the world? “We think we have a pretty good idea for who should take care of the baby” while the parents are off solving grisly murders, Hanson teased. ” Added Nathan, “That’s after the first six [pre-hiatus episodes], but it’ll be a lot of fun.” (We’re stumped over here. You don’t think Caroline will retire from the U.S. Attorney’s office, do you?)

Exclusive: BONES Plotting Bonus Mini-Season to Possibly Air Next Summer-TVLine

Bones‘ unorthodox approach to its seventh season just got even… unorthodoxier.

You’ll recall that Emily Deschanel’s pregnancy already forced the show to scale back its number of episodes to 13, six this fall (beginning Nov. 3) and seven in the spring, with its spinoff, The Finder, bridging the gap in the winter. Well, now comes word that Fox has ordered four additional episodes, possibly to air over the summer or be carried to Season 8 (assuming there is a Season 8).

Executive producer Stephen Nathan acknowledges that “it’s a very odd situation we’re in,” adding that Fox “has scheduled us for 13 episodes, but they want as many episodes as we can produce.”

Whatever happens, the four bonus hours will likely air apart from the original 13. “We’re constructing the season so that the finale is Episode 13,” Nathan says. “And then there will ultimately be four more episodes that we can play with. [Fox] could run them on a different night, they could run them in the summer, or they could hold them for fall.”

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the four extras, they will be written as standalones. “Because the show is centrally episodic, and we know what’s happening with Booth and Brennan, we can do four great episodes that are almost like a mini-season,” Nathan explains. “So we can do a four-episode mini season after the 13-episode regular season.”

“It’s weird, and it’s a challenge,” he concludes. “But we’ll do it.”
