Trisha: I heard my one and only Adam Brody is guest starring on The League this season. Do you have any details on his role?
Brody plays one of the out-of-towners in the guys' fantasy league, and he decides to host a destination draft in his city of Los Angeles. When the guys (and Jenny) arrive, Adam's character drops a huge bombshell on them. Hint: he has a serious disease. Also in the season premiere: somebody quits the league, a new Sacko trophy is revealed and a celeb who starred in This Is the End makes a hilarious cameo.

New Girl: Nick Kroll and Bill Burr to guest-star | Inside TV | EW.com

According to Entertainment Weekly's Dan Snierson, Nick Kroll, Bill Burr and Ellen Abertini Dow will be guest-starring in an upcoming episode of New Girl as three of Nick's relatives. They will be appearing in the same episode that Margo Martindale will be guest-starring in as Nick's mom, Bonnie. Here's an excerpt from the article:

EW has learned that comedian Nick Kroll (The League) will guest star as Nick’s dim-yet-passionate younger brother, an air conditioner repairman named Jamie. Meanwhile, fellow stand-up Bill Burr (Breaking Bad) will play Bobby, Nick’s loudmouthed cousin and a TSA agent at Boston’s Logan Airport who is always fighting with Jamie.

In the episode, which airs next month on Fox, Nick (Jake Johnson) and his roommates travel to Chicago, where he grew up, and his friends soon learn that Nick is somehow the most mature member of his family.

This isn’t our first time meeting another Miller: Dennis Farina recently played Nick’s dad.

UPDATE: Ellen Abertini Dow (The Wedding Singer) has been cast as Nick’s partially deaf aunt who is convinced that the other family members are plotting against her.

My thoughts: As I said in my post on Margo Martindale being cast as Nick's mother (New Girl: Margo Martindale to play Nick's mom ), I'm not exactly thrilled about her playing his mom. I'm definitely very excited to meet other members of Nick's family though, especially after reading this news. The descriptions of Nick's family members sound hilarious. In terms of this casting news, I'm only familiar with Nick Kroll and his work on The League. Nick is very funny on The League, so I'm sure he'll do a great job on New Girl. I can't wait to see this episode.

FX has renewed its fantasy football comedy, The League, for a 13-episode fourth season.

In a statement Tuesday, FX’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Nick Grad, said, “The League continues to be one of our most successful comedy series both creatively and from a ratings standpoint. [Creators] Jackie and Jeff Schaffer, along with our terrific cast, are doing wonderful work each week to make one of the funniest shows on television, and we’re excited to order another season.”

The League – which stars Paul Scheer and Nick Kroll, among others, as old friends in a fantasy sports league — is currently in the midst of its third season, and has welcomed a slew of guest stars this year including Seth Rogen, Jeff Goldblum, Sarah Silverman, Ray Liotta, Will Forte and Eliza Dushku.

Production on Season 4 will begin next summer and is slated to premiere in the fall.

Network Orders 13 Episodes for Fourth Season

Production Will Begin Summer of 2012 and Season Four Will Premiere in the Fall

LOS ANGELES, December 13, 2011 – FX has picked up a fourth season of its comedy series The League, ordering 13 episodes, announced Nick Grad, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, FX Networks.

Currently airing its third season, The League is averaging series-high ratings across the board. On a first-run basis, the show is averaging 1.7 million Total Viewers and 1.5 million Adults 18-49, up +25% and +32, respectively, vs. season two. On a multi-run total basis, season two delivered 2.9 million total viewers and 2.5 million adults 18-49.

This season has featured an all-star lineup of comedic guest stars including Seth Rogen, Jeff Goldblum, Sarah Silverman, Ray Liotta, Will Forte and Eliza Dushku.

“The League continues to be one of our most successful comedy series both creatively and from a ratings standpoint,” said Grad. “Jackie and Jeff Schaffer, along with our terrific cast, are doing wonderful work each week to make one of the funniest shows on television and we’re excited to order another season.”

“We are thrilled to do more shows with a cast that makes us laugh hard everyday, on a network that actually lets us put those jokes on air,” said the Schaffers. “In the words of Taco: The League on FX on Thursday nights is a law, like water or dinosaurs.”

To be a fan of The League, you don't need to know much about fantasy football, or sports at all. You just need to have friends that you hate. FX's ensemble comedy follows a group of old friends in a fantasy football league who care deeply about one another - so deeply that they use every opportunity to make each other's lives miserable. It was created by the husband-and-wife team of Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) and Jackie Marcus Schaffer (Disturbia, EuroTrip) who serve as executive producers and directors. The ensemble cast features Mark Duplass, Stephen Rannazzisi, Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Katie Aselton and Jon Lajoie. The series is produced by FX Productions.

There are three episodes of The League remaining in its third season. Episode 11, “The Guest Bong,” airs this Thursday at 10:30PM E/P. Pete's new girlfriend wants to help him with his line up; Kevin's past at the DA's office has him running scared; Ruxin runs afoul of his company's email policies; and auto-correct gets everybody in trouble.

• In ratings news, October gave FX its highest-rated month in network history, thanks to strong performances by Sons of Anarchy (up 22 percent in the demo year-to-year), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (+32 percent) and The League (+39 percent). What’s more, SOA, It’s Always Sunny and The League are delivering their most-watched seasons ever, while American Horror Story is on pace to become FX’s most-watched and highest-rated freshman drama.

• America’s Most Wanted’s 25th season is slated to premiere Friday, Dec. 2 at 9 pm on Fox Lifetime.

• Desperate Housewives baddie Mark Moses will play a “powerful, savvy trial attorney” on a Season 2 episode of USA Network’s Fairly Legal, EW.com.

• Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Jessica Tuck (Megan!) was spotted shooting scenes on the set of One Life to Live last week. The daytime staple is nearing the end of its run on ABC and will (hopefully) relaunch on The Online Network in January.

• ABC’s new six-episode do-gooder reality show You Deserve It will launch Nov. 21 following Dancing With the Stars’ final performance show. Chris Harrison and Brooke Burns will co-host.

• Andrew Dice Clay — who recurred on the final season of Entourage — will make a cameo on the Nov. 29 installment of Fox’s Raising Hope. According to TV Guide Magazine, the comedian will act as a celebrity judge of an amateur inventors convention.

• Fox has officially pulled the plug on In The Flow With Affion Crockett, the Jamie Foxx-produced sketch comedy series that premiered in August.
