Boardwalk Empire: Scoop on Nucky-centric flashbacks in season 5 from TVGuide's Adam Bryant

http://cdn.hbowatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/final-season-5.jpg

Here's some scoop on Boardwalk Empire from TVGuide's Adam Bryant's Mega Buzz column, which was posted on 9/2/14.

Any hints at what to expect this season of Boardwalk Empire? — Philip
Expect to see a lot of young Nucky via flashbacks to his days working for The Commodore in nascent Atlantic City. It will become pretty clear how Nucky became the man he is today. (He sees plenty of things a kid has no business seeing.) It'll also underline just how alone Nucky is in the present day. Speaking of being alone, if you thought things couldn't get any worse for Chalky at the end of last season, just wait until you see how he's spending his time this year.

Greg: I got my dad into Boardwalk Empire and have yet to break the news to him that it's ending. Perhaps a little scoop to share with the news will lessen the blow?
Perhaps you are right. The final season of Boardwalk Empire will introduce US Attorney Robert Hodge. He's a confident crusader who's very put-together and will recur.

Here's some scoop on Boardwalk Empire from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat column, which was posted on 2/19/14.

John S.: Boardwalk Empire is the best show on TV and I can't believe it's ending! What will we see in the final season?
A flashback to a young Nucky! We'll see the gangster when he was a pre-teen and learn that he didn't exactly grow up in a warm and loving home. Of course, we'll also get to see that he had his street smarts even at a young age.

Boardwalk Empire: Scoop on Kelly Macdonald's future on the show from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Boardwalk Empire from this week's (Posted on 9/10/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Please tell me you have something about Margaret’s whereabouts this season on Boardwalk Empire. Kelly Macdonald is still in the credits yet her character wasn’t in Sunday’s premiere. Anything? —Michael
Ausiello: She’s not in Episode 2 either. Beyond that, my lips are sealed — although you can probably glean something from the fact that Macdonald attended the show’s big NY premiere last week (see photo, right). And the opening credits thing is also a pretty big tip off.

Here's some scoop on Boardwalk Empire from this week's (Posted on 8/13/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: So is it too soon to ask about the upcoming season of Boardwalk Empire? —Denise
Ausiello: Not too soon! I screened the first two episodes of Season 4 (bowing Sept. 8) over the weekend and here’s what I can share: [Spoiler]‘s whereabouts remain a mystery, [Spoiler] developed a major drug problem, and Jeffrey Wright makes a solid and rather unsettling first impression as Chalky’s quietly intense new nemesis, Valentin Narcisse.

Boardwalk Empire: Scoop on the season 3 finale from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Boardwalk Empire from this week's (Posted on 11/27/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Seriously, dude, what’s up with TVLine snubbing Boardwalk Empire? Give us some scoops on the finale, please. Is Kelly Macdonald (Margaret) gonna be in it? —Diego
Ausiello: One person’s snub is another person’s there’s a lot of TV to cover so cut me some freakin’ slack. Having said that, I’m loving Boardwalk Empire this season and I feel a little rotten for not writing about it more. Let me begin making it up to you by A) confirming that yes, Margaret will be in Sunday’s crackling finale (during which she makes two pivotal, life-altering decisions), and B) warning you that the episode contains one of the most disturbing televised sex scenes I have ever seen. (And I saw Hannah’s parents go at it in the shower last May on Girls.)

Question: Anything on Boardwalk Empire‘s season finale? RIP Owen. —Nina
Ausiello: There will be blood. Lots of blood. (And we’re so on the same page regarding Owen. A more devastating loss than Jimmy, IMHO.)

Here's some scoop on Boardwalk Empire from this week's (Posted on 10/31/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Anything on Boardwalk Empire? —Eric
Ausiello: This is going to sound like the world’s lamest spoiler but I promise you it isn’t: Van Alden is going to do some ironing in the near future. This next scoop, meanwhile, is going to sound like the world’s juiciest spoiler but I promise you it isn’t: There’s a funeral for a major character in this Sunday’s episode.

Boardwalk Empire: Jimmy Darmody related scoop and more on season 3 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Boardwalk Empire from this week's (Posted on 9/4/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Will Jimmy Darmody appear on Boardwalk Empire during Season 3? Maybe in flashbacks? —Olga
Ausiello: Early into Season 3, Nucky’s late protégé turns up in a flashback, but it’s old footage not new. Jimmy’s presence is mostly felt whenever his demarbled mother Gillian (now the proud co-owner of a brothel!) sashays into view. The incestuous menace has hired Richard Harrow to help rear little Tommy, but he’s under strict orders not to regale the orphan with stories of his late parents. Margaret, meanwhile, continues to channel her inner feminist trailblazer by spearheading a women’s health initiative with the aid of a cute doctor. Bonus Scoop: Empire boss Terrence Winter gets a gold star for casting Bobby Cannavale as Nucky’s new scary-ass nemesis, Rosetti. The psychopath makes Gillian look like Mother Teresa.

Sons of Anarchy: I'm thinking about checking this show out

I've been thinking about trying to get into watching the TV show Sons of Anarchy for a long time now. I've read a lot of spoilers for the show in the past several years, and it just sounds interesting to me. However, the last thing that I want to do is spend thirty dollars to buy the first season on DVD only to discover that I don't like the show like I did with Boardwalk Empire.

To anyone who has watched Sons of Anarchy, could you please leave a comment in the comment section of this post saying whether or not you would recommend that I take the time to check this show out? Depending on people's responses, I might buy the first episode on iTunes, but before I do that I really would appreciate feedback from people on what you think about the show, regardless of whether or not you like it. Thanks!

Boardwalk Empire: Scoop on season 3 from E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos

Here's some scoop on Boardwalk Empire from Kristin Dos Santos' Spoiler Chat Daily for Monday 4/2/12.

Shannon: I know it's way early but anything on Boardwalk Empire?
Clearly you weren't watching the Game of Thrones premiere last night and shame on you! But you also missed the first teaser for the new season of Boardwalk Empire. It's pretty clear that Nucky's (Steve Buscemi) shocking acts in last season's finale will affect him going forward. He's not messing around anymore!

Spoiler Chat: Scoop on American Horror Story, New Girl, Pretty Little Liars and More!-E! Online

American Horror Story, Revenge, Pretty Little Liars, New Girl

Television is a fickle beast this time of year. Some TV shows are on hiatus, and some are hurtling toward their midseason finales. And even better, some series are coming back from being away for far too long, like say, Pretty Little Liars?

Yes, we've got scoop on the first episode back of PLL, as well as some good news for fans of Tate and Violet on American Horror Story. And is the dreamy sheriff from Once Upon a Time really gone for good? All that, plus scoop on Glee, Supernatural, New Girl and more in this week's Spoiler Chat…

Sully716: Tell me anything about Pretty Little Liars please!
The new year starts out with a bang—and more than one brawl—when PLL returns Jan. 2. Ezra walks out of a disastrous coming-out party at the Montgomery's with a split lip, and two of the pretties (who make even orange jumpsuits look glamorous!) get in a very ugly catfight. Is "A" winning after all? Maybe the girls should switch to a limited texting plan.

MichaelGDuff : What are we going to see on Pretty Little Liars???
How about a first-hand glimpse of "A"?! If the girls somehow had a restraining order against their stalker (they wish!), "A" would be in clear violation by venturing closer to the fab four than ever before in first post-hiatus episode.

Yas: Any True Blood info not related to werewolves? I'm a fang-banger for life!
Prepare for a flashback to the 1950s. The city: San Francisco. Now who could possibly have business in San Fran during the '50s?

BrunetteNoel: Revenge spoilers, please! I'm obsessed!
How about some scoop on everyone's favorite billionaire Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann)? We chatted with Gabriel who teases that we haven't seen the last of "TyeNol" aka Tyler (Ashton Holmes) and Nolan. "There's definitely a future to the relationship, whether it's going upwards or straight to hell will be a good question that will be answered very soon."

Sarah: Obsessed with Revenge! I love Nolan and Emily and they broke my heart last episode. Tell me what's in store for them!
We'll let Gabriel tackle this one: "The fun of playing that relationship is that it evolves every single episode." While he teases that Emily (Emily VanCamp) may try to pull Nolan back in, Gabriel says, "There's only so many times I can get thrown out, or not! We'll see the depths of Nolan's desperation for companionship and the Clarke family." Dare we even think that he could be Emily's sibling?!

Nicki: What's coming up on New Girl?!
An epic smackdown between Nick (Jake Johnson) and Winston (Lamorne Morris), that's what! Yes, the roomies get into a fight while grocery shopping after they realize they might not have enough money and have to put some things back. Things get real when Nick touches Winston's ham, let's just leave it at that.

Collin: Schmidt is easily my favorite TV character. Got any scoop on what's ahead for him on New Girl?
Well since his 2008 dating profile has "leaked" online, we bet that the ladies will want to feel the rain on their skin and get their hands on some Schmidt, right?

Sila: I love Tate and Violet on American Horror Story! Is that weird? And do you have scoop on them?
It's not weird to love those two together. Evan Peters somehow makes Tate a lovable sociopath on AHS, and he's really sweet with Violet. So…maybe we're all nuts for wanting those two crazy kids to end up together. As for scoop, here's something Violet and Tate fans will enjoy: even though they are the exact opposite of a traditional couple, Tate will go above and beyond to show his love for her in a very traditional way.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY

Mitch: American Horror Story! I need to know if there's hope or the Harmon's!
Hmm, it really depends on your definition of the word "hope." We have a feeling that fans will be split on how they perceive the outcome of the family. But based on this photo from "Birth," there will some smiles ahead, right?

Gina in Los Gatos, Calif.: I'm so bummed Marg Helgenberger left CSI. Is there anything good ahead that'll cheer me up?
Make no mistake, Willows will never be replaced. What can we do to make you feel better? How about news of a possible love interest for one of our favorite law men ever, Nick Stokes? When Nicky (George Eads) tries to help a car crash victim find her memory and help piece together a crime scene, he finds help in the form of a beautiful nurse, Lauren. Rumor has it that her role could go beyond one episode. Lauren and Nick sitting in a tree. I-n-v-e-s-t-i-g-a-t-i-n-g!

Hannah: Really upset about the Sheriff's death on Once Upon a Time! Does this mean Emma won't have a love interest for a while?
You're upset?! We were crying into cartons of cookie dough ice cream while listening to Joni Mitchell last night. Moving on…Emma (Jennifer Morrison) is going to be a little too busy for romance when the show returns in January, as she's battling it out with newspaper editor/Magic Mirror Sydney (Giancarlo Esposito) to replace our beloved Graham (Jamie Dornan) as the town's sheriff. Also, Morrison live-tweeted last night's episode and says, "It will be hard for [Emma] to ever open her heart again" after losing Graham. All the tears!

Jamie Dornan, ONCE UPON A TIME

Jessi_RS: I love that Graham is the huntsman. Please tell me he isn't really dead and gone?
Hate to break it to ya, Patti, but Graham is in fact dead and gone. How do we know this? Dornan told us himself! In case you missed it, check out our interview with the Irish hottie, where he talks about possibly returning to the show as the Huntsman.

nomesterz: any hints as to what Lea Michele and Cory Monteith were talking about with the most epic Finchel scene ever?
What makes the scene so epic is the fact that it's not a big glitzy and glamorous song and dance number. It's the intimate nature of the scene that will make Finchel fans melt with delight. And what's even better is the fact that there will be more than one Finchel scene to freak out over in upcoming episodes.

Stefhanie88: Any info on Klaine? ;)
The evil Sebastian (Grant Gustin) will be back in a big way, and he'll definitely try and make good on his promise to have Blaine (Darren Criss) by the end of the school year. And Kurt (Chris Colfer) will not sit idly by and let that happen! It's gonna get messy.

Chasi23 Any Happy Endings scoop?
Everyone has been hearing the rumors that Max (Adam Pally) is finally getting a more serous boytoy played by Lonestar's James Wolk. But did you know that Max is going to have to share his new man? In episode 15 a lovely lady named Enid wins a date with Wolk at a bachelor auction, but we have a feeling their date is going to involve an early bird special and a game of shuffle board.

One Tree Hill, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Galeotti

Jessi_RS: The OTH promo was light on Haley/NH. Any spoilers you can share about them?
We're assuming the "n" in NH means Nathan "Perfect Biceps" Scott (James Lafferty), so here's what we can tell you: Prepare yourselves for some tough times on the Nathan and Haley (Bethany Joy Galleotti) front in One Tree Hill's final season. "She is finding out the depth of what she is capable of as woman, as a mother, as a wife," Bethany tells us. "She's being challenged in ways that you hope to God that no one will ever have to be challenged. [She's] finding out if she is going to come out on the other side as a warrior with scars or if the circumstance is going to swallow her whole." Yikes!

Vanessa: You've been holding out on us Supernatural fans! Give us some scoop to make up for it please!
Fine, but only because you asked so nicely. The show is currently looking to cast the role of Nora, a well-meaning and hardworking Wiccan who's a little bewildered by the darker side of evil. Bonus scoop: They're also casting a troubled postal worker who has something in common with Transfomers: There's more to him than meets the eye. Get it? OK, that wasn't our best, but you get the idea.

CastleBuffySVU: Castle scoop!
It was recently announced that Jennifer Beals has landed a two-episode guest stint as a CIA agent on Castle, and now the show is looking to cast the role of Martin Danberg, a fellow CIA agent who is at odds with her. Perhaps her former Chicago Code co-star Jason Clarke is available?

Charlotte, Raleigh, NC: I'm obsessed with 2 Broke Girls and anything you've got would be amazing. Please!
Well we already had Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs personally show you around the set, but I guess since you asked so nicely we can give you a lil' more. In episode 15 the girls come across an Abercrombie & Fitch model who is tall, dark and completely unconscious. So in an effort to be heroic, Caroline gives him some pretty intense shock therapy by punching him in the gut as hard as she can! But is this the making of a modern-day fairy tale? Nope, he just gets super pissed. And rightfully so, we think.

Violet in Toronto, Canada: 2 Broke Girls makes me so happy!
Uh-oh! We don't wanna burst your bubble, but when the season returns next year, there is one episode that might bring your happiness waaaay down. Someone close to Max ends up in the hospital and while she is busy threatening anyone near her with physical violence, Caroline is flirting with the doctor (and old fling from back in the day) into getting the patient V.I.P. treatment. Let's hope that [spoiler alert] is going to be okay!

Steve Buscemi, Boardwalk Empire

Josie: The Boardwalk Empire finale blew my mind! Is it too early to ask for scoop on next season?
No way! In fact, we just got some casting scoop that could hold you over until season three. Boardwalk Empire is looking for two new recurring characters: One is a New York gangster, who doesn't like when he's not taken seriously and will go to great lengths to teach people a lesson. The other is a Department of Justice investigator, but we're keeping the rest of his character details under wrap because they are too cool to spoil!

Tyler, in Redlands, Calif: I love me some Modern Family.
Oh, and so do we! Our sources tell us that they are currently casting for two very important upcoming roles: Chuckleberry and Bubbles! Just who are these weird-os going to be you might ask? Clowns, of course. We're thinking that Cam's (Eric Stonestreet) alter-ego Fizbo might be having a little clown-college reunion and that sounds both hilarious and slightly scary.

Tracy: CSI: Miami scoop, please!
Ryan Wolf (Jonathan Togo), you best start preparing for some competition! CSI: Miami is currently casting a potential rival for Ryan named Josh, who just so happens to be Samantha Owens' (Taylor Cole) new boyfriend. Described as athletic and extremely handsome, Josh is the new assistant state attorney.

Grimm

Lizwritesbooks: Gaga over Grimm! Spill!
The show is casting a beautiful and tempting fire dancer named Ariel, who is a Daemonfeuer—aka a dragon-like creature. Five bucks says she breathes fire!

Trisha in Brea, Calif: Any Raising Hope info? I'll be your best friend forever!
Oh, hey there! So we're all set for mani and pedis at 3 on Friday and then we can discuss this new casting scoop for Raising Hope. In episode 15, Virginia (Martha Plimpton) agrees to look after a nerdy 16-year-old named Natalie while her Dad is away on a business trip. But when Virginia catches Natalie and her boyfriend trying to get down and dirty, she decides it's time to give the angsty teen some much-needed words of wisdom.

VisualFiction: When the HELL is 30 Rock coming back, and is anything real going to happen this season?
Well, If you'd just sneak a peek our Midseason Finales and Winter Returns post, then you'd see that 30 Rock premieres on Jan. 12. It's only a few weeks away, so we suggest you take a large chill pill and start getting excited for the Jimmy Carter look-alike and couture supermodels that are set to appear this season. And the speculation begins right... now!

Boardwalk Empire: The Real Story Behind [Spoiler]'s Departure-TVLine

[The following story contains spoilers from Sunday's Boardwalk Empire finale. Proceed at your own risk.]

Back in October, our sister site Deadline.com reported that Boardwalk Empire co-lead Michael Pitt was fired by his longtime agent “because he’s really difficult on set and otherwise.”

Cut to this past Sunday: Empire fans are reeling from the shocking death of Pitt’s character, Jimmy Darmody, in the show’s Season 2 finale.

Is there a connection? Did Empire whack its second biggest star because of backstage problems? Or did the storyline simply demand it?

Exec producer Terrence Winter says it’s the latter, maintaining in an interview with EW.com that Pitt’s ouster was a creative decision.

“[It's] absolutely not true,” he says. “Michael is a total professional. He’s intense, of course, but I don’t think you can do that job without being intense.”

Winter said the decision to kill off Jimmy was made “at the beginning of Season 2,” adding, “The idea was to try and push things to their absolute limit, even if it makes it difficult for yourself and your writing team. If you take things to their logical extreme with the situation we created, Jimmy has betrayed Nucky, he tried to have him killed. You want to be honest about the storytelling… Anything short of Nucky [killing Jimmy] wouldn’t feel real, it wouldn’t be real. And it would be a cheat for us to say, ‘We want to keep our beloved character Jimmy Darmody alive.’”

For his part, Pitt shrugged off the rumors surrounding his behavior on set. ”I’m confident that I will be judged by my performance,” he told EW.com, “and not by the ‘he said, she said.’”

Boardwalk Empire Fall Finale: Ready, Set, React!-TVLine

If you have yet to watch the season finale of Boardwalk Empire, hit the nearest exit. And I repeat: If you have yet to watch the season finale of Boardwalk Empire, hit the nearest exit.
Everyone else, read on…

Wow.

That was no doubt your reaction after watching Sunday’s game-altering Season 2 finale of Boardwalk Empire. (It was certainly mine.)

In short, they killed Jimmy! And by “they” I mean Nucky, who shot his rival dead in the closing minutes of the mind-blowing episode —bringing Michael Pitt’s two-season run on the HBO drama to a shocking end.

“Jimmy, throughout this episode, realizes that it’s over for him,” concedes exec producer Terrence Winter in an interview posted on HBO.com. “And I think he knows his end is coming. But before that, he at least wants to make everything right, say his goodbyes, repair what he can and move on. There are a lot of emotions — he’s angry, he’s greedy, he’s bitter — he’s really a mess.

“By the time we pick up Jimmy in the last scene, he’s essentially said his goodbyes to everybody and it’s very telling that Jimmy comes to this meeting… unarmed,” Winter continues. “He was well aware of the fact that he was being set up and he willingly walked into this. I think Jimmy knew this was his fate. And as he said to Nucky, this was really the only way this could’ve ended for us… [Jimmy] was sort of ready to move on into the next world.”

Boardwalk Empire: Season 2 Episode 10 Recap-TVLine

If you have yet to watch Sunday’s Boardwalk Empire, hit the nearest exit. Everyone else, read on…

Jimmy (Michael Pitt), who had been slowly losing it in recent weeks, suffered his biggest loss to date – and so did viewers.

In a shocking twist in the final minutes of this week’s episode, Jimmy’s innocent wife Angela (played by the luminous Aleksa Palladino) was brutally murdered by one of her husband’s enemies, Philly crime boss Manny.

Here’s how it went down:

Already suspecting Jimmy of ordering a hit on him, Manny became further agitated by the new boss of Atlantic City’s lame idea of a debt repayment. So he set out to kill Jimmy, but, in a tragic twist, bumped off his wife Angela’s new girlfriend Louise instead — while Angela herself looked on. As a horrified Angela begged him to let her live, Manny aimed the barrel of his gun at her, sneered, “Your husband did this to you,” and then pulled the trigger.

Not once but twice.

It was a haunting image and easily one of the most pivotal — and heartbreaking — deaths in show’s two-year run. It’s also a homicide that will likely reverberate through the final two episodes of the season.

(Note: This was the major female death I’ve been teasing for weeks.)

Other highlights from the Dave Flebotte-scripted hour.

* Van Alden received divorce papers from Rose.

* Teddy, tired of his polio-stricken sis getting all of Mom’s attention, feigned paralysis. Margaret punished him with a slap across the face and later expressed concern to Nucky that, “He’s got his father’s cruelty… his sister is lying crippled in the hospital; he knows that.”

* Jimmy offered to drop Chalky’s murder charge in exchange for an end to the workers strike, but he was having none of it.

* Esther “I’m Sure I Don’t Know What You’re Talking About” Randolph (an unrecognizable Julianne Nicholson) started sniffing around about Nucky’s possible role in the death of Margaret’s abusive hubby, Hans.

HBO Renews Boardwalk Empire For Third Season-TVLine

Take a shot if you saw this coming: Boardwalk Empire has been renewed for a third season, HBO announced Wednesday.

“Following a triumphant first season, I was eager to see what Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese and the rest of their stellar team had in store, and they continue to surpass our highest expectations,” said HBO president Michael Lombardo. “The response from the media and our viewers has been extremely gratifying.”

At last month’s Emmy Awards, Empire — which is three episodes into its second season — picked up eight trophies, including one for best director Martin Scoresese.
